I second this! I am planning on moving to FL in the spring when my lease is up. Choosing between Miami, Jacksonville, and Tampa is a little difficult from the experience and feedback received in those areas.

Finally, an accurate representation of "East" and "West" with I-95 being a realistic dividing line.
...also, there's a big difference between "N" and "S". With Flagler being the dividing boundary.
    ...and Traffic? Yah. Right-On.
Hurricanes & weather: Just a fact of life. Respect Mother Nature.

Hi Hans, I’ve checked a bunch of your Videos on CZcams. I’m born & raised in NYC. Seriously thinking about a Condo in Brickle or Edgewater, however you just popped my bubble saying a budget of $300,000 won’t get you in the best Neighborhood. I’ve been checking Zillow and Googling checking reviews and see nice spots.

@@LivingInMiami Yes, thank you for your video about Miami. Having been down to Miami many times, I do like the warm weather. All of you cool guys and girls enjoy that warm weather. Having been in North beach many times and have gone down to South Beach for a little party scene is very cool. But I know I am older so I need a little bit of a slower area to live.. So, I do Santa Monica and San Diego in Cali and Miami as I get older. Thanks for you cool advice about living there.

This is probably one of my most favorite videos you have made. Lots of good information and your perspective is very helpful. I want to love where I live and I also hate commuting. I have children, I am most likely going to be working in Miami Beach, I’d like to live close to work but how would that work with kids? Is there a public school system in that area and are they good schools? What do other families do living in Miami Beach?

    • @LivingInMiami

  • @SuperRip7

    Here is my answer.
Of course, you have to speak Spanish in Miami but there is one exception I will come back to it later. Modern Miami is founded by Cubans and from that day forward Spanish has become the prestigious language all over Miami Dade. All major private companies in Miami do all their business in Spanish. The City National Bank of Florida is an example. The cultural section of Miami, known as Calle Ocho is definitely Spanish speaking. All the Hispanic churches, clubs, and bars speak Spanish. To be a police officer or firefighter you have to speak Spanish and English. Notwithstanding Spanish is transmitted from one generation to another as a first language. In all of Miami Dade, there is not one Hispanic person who does not speak Spanish. By the way, to suggest to newcomers they have to speak a little bit of Spanish is preposterous. Hispanic people, whether immigrants or those who are two generations removed speak Spanish often and publicly. Would Miami be the “capital of Latin America” if Hispanic people spoke only minimal Spanish? That is why white and black young people don’t move to Miami, because the language barrier would be an issue. English does not have the same meaning like other American cities unless there is an emergency medical attention. For those who do live in Miami and are not Hispanic, the neighborhoods are Little Liberty and Overtown. These are depressed, dangerous places that people stay away from. Coconut Grove is the only block with substantial English-speaking people who do business in real estate. There is glamourous, beachfront property like Venetian Islands, but that’s for private, rich people so I ignore them.
