Great stuff thank you. I noticed recently after cleaning my Carerra track with a damp microfiber that the cars suffered new found traction issues. I run urethane tires on the rear of all my cars but all the fronts are rubber. After a couple weeks the traction and car performance came back. Next time I believe I will just “dust” my track and not clean it with any liquids.
love this guy, when the wife turns up I love it! top man, he is slot car man in the southern hemisphere, top dog!!!
Beuatiful.....magic. ....The best
Aye, i enjoyed that, very inciteful. Just like a green circuit like you hear F1 commentators talk about - the fastest lap is the final lap of the Grand Prix, as opposed to the first lap on friday FP1.
tires make racing interesting and its crazy to see the carrera track turn gray over time with rubber buildup.
Do you have a video or series how to change out the old blue guide from a Scalextric to a modern guide?
Hello,
I like very much the drive of Pioneer Camaro (grey/blue). Could you type the setup of this car?
Thank you
Interested in changing to Carrera from strombecker. But how well will cox/revell/monogram 1/24 cars run on analog Carrera track?
What exactly is the “treatment”? Thanks for your time?
The final test should have been swapping the lanes the cars were running in, to see if it was the 3 days of tire treatment giving the tires better grip, or if the track itself is more grippy. I would expect that the treated tires will still run well on the "untreated" lanes, while the untreated tires won't see such a marked improvement on the "treated" lanes. I think it takes more than 3 days and a couple hundred laps to build up proper/measurable grip levels unless you're OVER softening tires that really shed material.
Hello, I am new to slot cars, and am wondering if 1. Different cars can work with different tracks (carerra with scalextric) and 2. The same with track. THANKS
Analog sets are compatible, but sometimes the guide needs filing down depending on the slot depth as they vary a bit. Digital cars can be interchanged with a chip swap out. It is fairly cheap to make a Scalextric car Carrera compatible, but a degree of hobbyist skill is required to do the modification. (soldering, small mechanical mods required to relocate the small parts)
Is your track analog? (i.e. simple type with transformer and power resistor hand controller) If so I have heard from others that they will work without much modification if any. If you are talking digital you best to visit a hobby shop and ask for some advice, or hit the forums like slotforum or auslot for specifics. But to digitise a Scalextric to fit Carrera system its a small board, a little bit of soldering and drill holes for mounting the board and an LED which communicates with a track sensor. Some of the cars don't have enough space to fit the board, e.g. F1.
Is it possible to connect scx tracks with scalextric tracks? And is it the same? hehe so confused!
SCX track & old Scalextric track have the same design & mate up just fine. Modern Scalextric track has a different joining mechanism which won't mate up with old Scalextric track or with SCX track but is the same as the other in all other respects. Special track pieces which have one mating system on one end, & the other mating system on the other, are available which allow the two types to be used in the same layout.
I wish I could find a shop like this near leeds
I have a feeling I chose the wrong scale. HO parts and accessories are virtually non-existent in this end of the world, and those 1:32 digital sets look like a lot of fun.
Alex Paulsen
The scale chosen only boil down to one thing and that's space.
If I had space, no question about 1/32 scale.
With not so much space, 1/64 ( HO) glued and screwed on to plywood for easy take away and storage against a wall then not in use is the choice.
My track doesn't take much space in that way. Only 180x80cm.
Track you buy is Tomy AFX. They have all track sizes and curves you need to customize your own track.
Another advantage is you can run all brands of 1/64 (HO) cars on that track.
Tracks and cars you buy from US. Either via AFX directly or a US retailer, Amazon or Ebay.
Just Google for it and you will have track and cars in no time.
I buy bulk lots from local auctions for track and cars etc, but new parts to keep the cars running are drying up supply wise, and even the currently available cars are hit and miss for spares.
Alex Paulsen
Sad to hear that.
May I ask what you are currently using?
What brand?
Or is it a mix of different brands?
And in what country do you live?
I'm in New Zealand, I've collected only Tomy AFX over the years. I've seen the USA has better supplies for these, but it's just not worth it for me. Up until very recently a Turbo chassis tune-up kit cost almost as much as a new car, now the Turbo chassis is discontinued and parts supplies are drying up. I tried a couple of Mega G chassis (long and short) and hated them, I also haven't found them to be terribly consist, reliable, or easy to repair.
HO is dead here as far as I'm concerned. Fewer and fewer model shops are stocking anything HO related, but 1:32 is still available everywhere.
If there's no supplies of HO parts, then there is no demand... if there's no demand, there's no point supplying it. I totally get it, and can't do much about that at all. The only way to make it feasible is to find an oversees dealer and make a huge order to make it worthwhile, which is not of interest to me.
Alex Paulsen
Right.
That situation doesn't sound to good.
So now is the time to be friend with Damien at slotcar.co.nz above and switch to 1/32?
As you earlier wrote, digital looks fun and it is! ( and expensive).
But the old analog tracks and cars are not so stupid either and you can get them quite cheap both in new and in second hand form with loads of spare parts.
Anyway, good luck with you!
its a matter just keep them them clean and oiled they will rip for years
Wow... That second scalextric car with no mags is extremely noisy
Dear, really interesting video. I have perceived that you are running analog cars on a Carrera digital, correct? If so, how do you do that? According Carrera manual we should remove all digital components when running analog. Please let me know, as I'm asking this question to a lot of people and nobody was able to respond me. I have a 22m longo Carrera digital track, but also I have a lot of analog cars that I wish to run on it. Tis Best Regards. PS - take a look on our videos in our recently inaugurated slot channel. Also we have a blog (unfortunately so far only in Portuguese) at www.poconoslotcar.blogspot.com.br. Thanks!
