    Nice video. I have used both brands and some other brands also, and pretty much everything you said is true. I would add that Scalextric is working to improve their products, so some small details may change from this car to other models in the future. Also, I would recommend using a plastic-safe, light oil to lubricate the axle bushings on either brand, even the brass bushings on the Carrera. It helps keep the car running smoothly longer. Good job!

      It's not a good video. He starts off saying there's a problem with the size of the display case, and shipping. Well that's not actually a problem at all. Most people are still buying from shops. This vid maker isn't experienced at this game. Both games are unique. They seem to be the same to inexperienced operators. If you want to experience smashing the cars, you'd buy scalextric product, cause that's built into the product. If you want to experience sliding the car around corners you'd buy product which isn't these 2 brands. Your cars need to have the pin guide instead of the sliding guides. You also DONT MODIFY these product. If you do, you're saying that you know more than ferrari do, for example. So you know when you see a CZcams vid maker modifying the slot cars, they're bullshit artists. They can't possibly know better than ferrari or Lamborghini. Those vid makers shouldn't be commenting. For example, 'trueing wheels' is ACTUALLY cutting out the engine sound of a slot car. The engine sound is actually the sound of a gearbox noise of a full size car. These are the elements a slotcar manufacturer gets to play with. If you cut the lumps off the wheels and tyres, you've ruined the engine rumble sound designed to be there from the slotcar makers.

    • @edteach3r
      @edteach3r Před 4 lety +2

      symbian1530 : long answer to a quick question :) My thoughts, subjectively of course ...
      While I love Scalextric, I think Carrera has the digital thing so much better organised. They evolved into digital format seamlessly, as indicated by their 132 racing track system. Apart from a variety of lane changers, the functionality of their cars and CU have been designed from the ground up. In comparison, Scalextric have been scrambling to catch up, experiencing endless delays with their ARC system. Everything still smacks of digital being an “add-on”. The contrast is quite stark when viewing videos of both systems in action. The Carrera cars, with the ability to turn lights on when stationery and brake lights (essential for accident-free racing IMO) just seem so much more real. The variety of track designs, including corner lane changers that simulates racing lines, are seemingly endless.
      I have loved Scalextric since getting my first set in 1967, but they let their advantage slip for too many years and now are scrambling to catch up. It is difficult to find certain pieces, even simple ones such as straight track borders (apparently produced only in limited runs whenever they are able to do so).
      Scaley had fantastic track pieces in the past (such as that glorious Goodwood chicane that I had save up for monts to be able to buy), not to mention endless track-side goodies. While I race only ARCPro now, I still own all my tracks (including the Goodwood chicane) and 52 cars (most in mint condition) collected over the past 60 years. I applaud Scalextric for trying its best to get back to where it once was ... I just hope it is not too late. I support them whenever possible by buying new cars and following them on social media, but they are facing an uphill struggle.

    I adapted a few Carrera evolution cars to run on scalextric digital set up. It's not that difficult, taking about 10 mins if you are proficient with a soldering iron. Maybe you should just focus on you and disregard any videos posted by anyone else that you think is trying to control your life. Either that, or you’re just the oddest CZcams troll ever.
      Oh, and thanks for the very detailed and drawn out explanation of how the apples and oranges metaphor works.

      The only thing the same is they're slot cars. Everything about them is different. 1 car runs on AC, the other is built for DC, the guides are different lengths, the display boxes are totally different to display the items and protection. Just looking at the cars in the different display boxes cause you the viewer to experience a different image. From the first time you see a carrera product you experience something you'll never experience looking at scalextric product. If you buy only 1 brand you only get to live that lifestyle, you don't get the other brand lifestyle too. You don't look at a red object and Imagine it as being blue. You're saying that you can imagine the carrera slot car being exactly like the scalextric product, even though everything is different about the cars, including the display boxes. 1 car has a hand controller operated by a trigger. The other brand deliberately uses a thumb controller feature. EVERYTHING BEFORE YOUR EYES tells you the cars are all different and are impossible to compare, yet you puny humans keep trying to compare and so you can dismiss paying for another race track system. Admit you're a cheapass idiot and stop wasting everyone's life trying to argue scalextric is the same. It's NOT, they're both totally unique.

      That doesn't stop them from trying to force us all to think like they do and live how they're living. The west treats citizens as if they're all born yesterday and have no knowledge and no social credibility.
