- SpaceX launched Starship atop of its Super Heavy booster from their Starbase facility in South Texas on March 14, 2024. Full Story: www.space.com/spacex-starship...
The gleaming, stainless-steel Starship rocket and its Super Heavy booster, which together stand 400 feet tall (122 meters), were filled with more than 10 million pounds of liquid methane and liquid oxygen propellant during the recent launch dress rehearsal, which was performed at SpaceX's Starbase facility near Boca Chica Beach in southern Texas.

the fact they could record live reentry is incredible
I want to know more about that. It would seem like anything you hang off of the booster at those speeds will cause drag/friction etc. And further it seems like it might compromise the booster's structure. I know zilch about how these things are constructed and I don't even play a rocket scientist on tv, but I'm still intrigued.
What reentry?
The whole thing cuts off at 43minutes (T+ 11m25s)
Where is the "reentry"?
I know! None of my friends are impressed but i keep telling them how much they should be. :P
They literally did not. Several times they even said how it’s not currently possible.
Okay, what's a more accurate way of describing the giant ass blanket of plasma coating the whole ship that formed from the friction of it reentering the atmosphere that was broadcasted live?@@cooperhedger
A big thank you from me to everyone who makes this possible! Absolutely amazing!
Excellent test mission. That reentry start might've been the first one seen live in history.
really? Timestamp please.

Where is the "reentry"?
@@SuperAd1980 What they mean is that they got to see some of the glowing plasma (which was really cool to see) and 𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 it reentered the atmosphere, just didn't make it down in 1 piece.
Edit: Oh my bad I should looked at the video, idk why it didnt show it
good profile pic
@Little908 thanks to Scott Manley for his short video and commentary.
Looked awesome.
Молодцы ребята. Душа инженера радуется вашей удаче! :)
That first stage is always BAD ASS
Imagine watching it crashing from sea lvl 🤯🤯🤯
Like Rey Misterio from the top rope
Fantastic! Also, at 39:52, there was a pretty rare supersonic water landing!
I'm 70 and my inner little kid could watch this all day long!!!
🙏❤️
Brings back memories of those heady Mercury, Gemini and Apollo days, well done SpaceX Team!
This is my Super Bowl
Fuck yeah!
Haha lol me to
Landing men on the moon and returning them safely is the Super Bowl of rocketry. The last Super Bowl was 1969 🤦♀️
@@mrsmartypants_1 No, landing on the moon is like the USA winning the World Cup than the Superbowl.
@@jamestavella1398 There’s lots of world cups. Which one lol? I’m sticking with Super Bowl. It’s a violent, athletic one and done thing. Lots of over all World Cup wins are made up of accumulated points throughout a season.
If it has double to triple saturn 5 thrust that's crazy if you ever seen that rocket in person it's mind boggling how large one motor is! Wow so Starship must be crazy!!!
Absolutely incredible. Congratulations to everyone at SpaceX. Making history. Your names will be spoken for all of Earth's future history
No. This piece of junk isn’t going anywhere
@@shortaybrown maybe. Maybe not. SpaceX is still making history
@@shortaybrownit is a revolutionary piece of technology, explain how this is “junk” and how it’ll never go anywhere?
“Thank you for flying SpaceX”
"Thank you for flying Ryanspace" :)
Thank you RAINX
It crashed, going 3x the speed of sound.... your hypothetical astronauts are all dead. 🤣
@@burninintexas7597 When people still can't understand what "test" really means... Jeez!
@@Vasy2310 At some point you have to stop with the tests and admit you are just not cut out for this...
Congratulations to the whole SpaceX team! This is remarkable!
Remarkable how they edited the first 45 minutes and lost the last 30 minutes of this video...
Well done spaceX.
This is amazing how huge this rocket is ,Space X is doing some really cutting edge stuff here in rocketry science .
I'm sooooo proud of SpaceX team
The only bad thing I have to say is that we have to wait another 2-3 months for another launch and to witness MORE!!!
The booster might have had a successful soft splashdown if it came in through the atmosphere at a more shallow angle. This would’ve created more atmospheric drag, thus slowing it down more. I’m sure SpaceX already has plans on how to do it better next time. Amazing footage and incredible job by SpaceX!!
Congratulations Space X. Stoked for you all. 🙌👌
This video "Replay" hate to say it.....super proffessional and way easy to understand Thanks Space X team!! Very Intense Yall
Watching that reentry as it happen was one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen. Almost as beautiful as the fairing reentry video from a few years ago.
to get these type of results on only the third try is amazing.
This will be the talk all week Starship successfully launched & Oh the views from onboard Cams perfect SpaceX
So fantastic!!! I get emotional watching the success of this mission. Well done to all at SpaceX. Can't wait to see the next flight!
Congratulations to the SpaceX team for a job well done in lifting such a giant rocket!🍾🍾🍾🍾🥂🥂🥂🥂🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀
The engineering team is the freaking GOAT! Way to go, lads!
Nah, NASA Apollo is still the GOAT.
@@philipthecow Well, I can't discredit decades of technological advances made by them. But they still didn't solve the very problem that made the government cancel space programs: reusable boosters and rockets to diminish costs. That was something that SpaceX pioneered for heavy loads. All I am saying is that I am very happy with the return of said programs through Artemis, but that wouldn't be possible with the current budget, if not for SpaceX's little boost.
...Who am I kidding? The US has far enough budget for space programs, they just prefer to dump it all in the military.
@@philipthecow you're not smart stfu
congratulations to SpaceX team.. huge milestone accomplished, I wished we had another view of the 1st stage re-entry and splashdown of the booster
so fking sweet!!! :D Congratulations for this mega performance!!!! GO Starship GO
Greatest success of SpaceX and human civilization! Goog luck ahead.
Not Bad Space X, Not Bad at All !
Congratulations To the Entire Team.
Looking forward to a sustainable future for humanity. Great leadership, great team . You give me hope🚀 ⚓️
Starship making history yet again! 🚀 So proud and excited to see where we'll go next!
We? 😂😂
Great views [ just excellent ]. Go SpaceX - and Great big congratulations to the SpaceX team. You go guys..!!
Incredible and impressive. Congrats and well done❤
That reentry was incredible to watch! I was so excited when I watched it reenter the atmosphere!
Except it burned up in the atmosphere. Lol
1:19:26 onwards was probably one of the greatest views of reentry ever caught in space. AMAZING!
Are watching the same video? The video is only 43min long, man.
@@Hikaru-Makimura it must have been edited then. That’s a shame

@@ToussaintProductions ah I see.
Congratulations on your successful test flight.
It exploded...I don't know how successful that was. Better than the previous flights, but it still exploded.
@@louisianaguy2661still a success since the ship made it to the reentry
@@louisianaguy2661 shhhh.... shut up the smart one's are talking now
It’s not a success, still no controlled burn landing..
@@madsam0320 do you want the biggest rocket in the whole world to work flawlessly with just it'd 3rd launch?
Incredible and impressive. Congrats and well done
Heavy precision space ballet !
Congratulations 👏👏
Great job!!!
Glad I finally found the real space x channel!
Amazing feat of human endeavor. A true epitome of resilience and innovation.
What!? We landed on the moon in 1969!
@@QuantumEX Another great achievement.
One of the most satisfying things I've ever seen. ❤❤😊
This launch was absolutely stunning!
Congratulations SpaceX !!
i am so lucky to be here for this.
I see the earth is indeed a sphere!!
We have started “the final frontier” at a whole new level
Congratulations it's beautiful
Very cool launch. Sorry it was lost coming back but it was a successful test.
Achei incrível…
Maravilhoso, parabéns para vocês , espero ter a oportunidade de ser uma das primeiras pessoas a habitar está planeta que sempre achei ENCANTADOR …
I'm so excited for the day we can all get into a rocket ship and just go into space even have small personal ones like Star wars. 🚀🙌🔥

Awesome footage
what an impressive group of people
Awesome team effort
CONGRADULATIOINS ON A GREAT LAUNCH!!! PRESS ON!!
Congrats guys!!
Great job I love watching it I hope NASA make a model kit of it I want one
Good job Arron for his crew with the super heavy booster
woww looked a lot more fast than previus
Booster made over 4000kmh on descent, I think they need to find the way to start slowing down gradually a lot earlier, this should reduce the overall stress on the crafts structure, if they will be reused obviously.
Well, given that Space X has been doing this for 20 years now, I would assume the rapid descent was allowed on purpose to test the overall stress on the structure and it's control systems. It's a golden opportunity for it. Since its a throwaway prototype (with more launches in the pipeline), you want to expose and learn all the extremes you can.
Congrats SpaceX team!
🎉go space X Go Starship congrats on a beautiful feat of technology and innovation from Ngapuhi with inspiration and success
Looks like still engine restart issues on 1 st stage when deorbiting and on descent, and engine restart in orbit on the ship… but amazing progress and success on this test!
Well done to the entire space x team. Mars it is
Congratulations space X 🎉🎉🎉
So, did anyone register a Tsunami from the booster hitting the ocean at 2500 km/h?
Congratulations watching from Melbourne
Saw it in Flordia a while ago how was your view, if you'd like to come here for another launch we'd be happy to help sponsor your stay (not a travel agent)
The images from this test mission, The Raptor' performed fairly well, up until it didnt unfortunately. The data is what can be gleaned and the studies can help to build an even better starship with all safety concerns are for the eventuality of a manned crew aboard.
👏 An amazing display of power, speed and best was the pix of Mother Earth..Just, wow! ❤
Best takeaway: Kate's new bangs really suit her! 😂
Wow, that thing took off quick!
Not slow like Apollo 11.
@@codetech5598, nor like the first two flights.
If the door works I want to see a test dispense of dummy starlinks. But, where would it safely be able to do so?
Is it just me, or did Starship/Super Heavy get off the launchpad much faster after ignition than IFT-2?
Yeah.... not too shabby... as far as flying machines go.
Esto es increíble 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wilber and Orville would be most impressed. You'll be with them now son. Congrats.
starship spitting out starlink satellites like Pez
It was dreamlike 😂we are so impressed and loving your prowess ❤
amazing
Looked like the heat tiles were coming off on reentry
Excellent lauch😍
太帅了,
So it no longer blows up when they test the pressure at full power like before?
I really hope they had control of the booster up until the time it hit the water. It appeared as if it had excellent responsiveness. I'm so stoked for them! Way to GO! It looked as if somebody was intentionally trying to shake it. Left, right, left, right, HARD LEFT, HARD RIGHT, spin it baby.
Assuming they had positive control, obviously.
It flys itself, all rockets use onboard computers and pre programmed flights
That violent shaking is and happens to long tubes falling in air, especially ones that are filled with liquid ( because the liquid moves slightly slower and changes the inertia )
@@lachy6645 I get the physics of reentry. I graduated as a mech eng and understand fairly well. The grid fins have the ability to affect attitude. I wasn't referring to the violent shaking. I was attempting to point out the ship's responsiveness to input from the grid fins. If it were me, I'd be testing bounds, at this "stage in the game."
Stunning! I just can't believe how much junk is out there in the background...
SpaceX: better than a kick in the balls (but not by much). Amazing how many people can be duped by a project that will never work.
His cult followers will be here soon unfortunately
I know, ridiculous to see them keep trying to land a rocket, on a barge no less. They should learn from the real rocket companies like ULA.
What happened to john insprucker?
Is this live
Amazing to witness this great journey beginning of humans
But why cut out the ending?
Because it burned up on re-entry. I mean they did great but that's not good to cut it out.
Well done! And we wholeheartedly wish your team further success in this work! With sincere support - from dreamers from Russia 🧐🔭

SpaceX Moving you to the caverns of space in Time. Fly the Friendly
My brother David was up at 4am and drove about 60 miles to South Padre Island from Weslaco for the launch, it's Dave's 3rd mission. Hundreds of cars with grid lock after the launch, be patient. He said it was worth it again! If you are into this you must see it LIVE. Go to SPI and take a right after the Bridge and head to Isla Blanca Park very early and pay about 12 bucks then find a parking space and walk towards the famous SPI jetties. Bring a jacket it's always nippie in the early morning and stand in awe of the beautiful water, the salt in the air, and the Rocket only 5 mile away.
A tad bit Nippley you say, yes it is a sight to behold in person
This is what we live for. We live for mankind.
The last video of 1st stage, it seemed to be acting rather squirrely. 2nd stage DID splash down, just not seen.😅
Crashed. Lol
Я очень рад что ваши технологии и ваши будущее проста жест супер спасибо ребят
