Young Michael Jordan vs Young Clyde Drexler - MJ puts on Superman cape for another epic comeback!!

  • Michael Jordan, Clyde Drexler... two of the best athletes to ever pick up a basketball, in their athletic prime! This was a match-up everyone always looked forward to, because of the athletic ability each legend unleashed on the NBA. Michael Jordan would often leave Clyde Drexler shell-shocked by his performances because Michael was a relentless competitor and at times you'd see Clyde get frustrated and Michael would break his will through sheer competitive fire.
In this ballgame in particular, Michael Jordan was on absolute fire... one problem, for a good portion of the game, it wasn't enough, and the Blazers were dominating the Bulls. Michael kept the cape on and willed the Bulls to a win in a fashion that no man before and no man after has been able to consistently duplicate, and that's why we call MJ the GOAT.
Hope you enjoy the edit of this epic NBA contest!

Blitz Sports Network PSA: Always remember, the individuals who say "Michael Jordan didn't face great competition in his era" are trying to tell you something IMPORTANT. They are trying to tell you that they didn't watch the Michael Jordan era, and there are much better things you could be doing with your time rather than listening to their takes on an era they didn't even watch. Would you go to someone for an opinion on Shakespeare if they had never seen the plays Macbeth, Hamlet, or Othello? Of course you wouldn't. Consider the source. Nobody who watched that era would trash the talent all around the league. Michael Jordan played in a great era with a great blend of fierce competitors, awe inspiring athletes, lock down defenders, knock down shooters, and ultra skilled ballers.

Exactly! His first brush with fame was a NCAA Championship winning Jump Shot!! The Olympic Gold was primarily MJ shooting Jump SHOTS! In the Olympics was when I first said to myself, he is releasing that shot higher than I have noticed anyone else release their shot. He always had a sweet stroke. Maybe 🤔 he improved, But it was always there.

The statement as usual was said by one person and snowballed to others who never watched or understood Jordan's play. Also keep in mind jumpshots back then didn't sell tickets MJ spectacularly posterizing other NBA players did. MJ with his instantaneous leaps over his opponents in his early years were just insane. MJ usually shot MR when he couldn't get to the basket..now ask yourself how often could his Airness at will NOT get to the basket, Lol. Even against the BB Pistons MJ average was unreal while being triple teamed and brutalized yet he still had just as many dunks against them as any other team as expected from the GOAT.

This is the age, before the titles, that he was ridiculous and there has been no one close to the 86 to 91 Jordan. Not even close. What he did on the defensive end was almost as amazing as he was offensively. Anyone who compares people to him have no clue. If the lebrons and kobes played him at this age range, they would quiver like everyone else did.

Michael Jordan. The total package. Skills/athleticism/agility/talent AND the laser focus/will/killer instinct mentality that very few NBAers have. Kobe had it. The current era of NBA players don't have it. Not just the talent but also the mental fortitude to end NBA lives! Earvin "Magic" Johnson is my favorite player, I'm a big fan of Kareem, Larry, Julius, Bill Russell, Jerry West, Shaquille, Tim Duncan, the rest of the Original Dream Team roster (maybe not Christian Laettner so much) and others to include Steph Curry, Jayson Tatum & Jaylen Brown. None of them and no other NBAer has displayed what Michael Jordan displayed on the basketball court. NOT the total package, night in/night out for the full 82-plus. Jordan's entry into the league was in the middle of Magic & Larry. Those 2 breathed life into the NBA and nobody beat them. Hell Magic won championships at the high school, college & NBA level in a span of 4yrs. Who does that? Not even Michael but after seeing Michael play you understand the difference. LeBron can be a fan's favorite player but more total package than Michael? That would be Kobe next and that's distant at best.

He easily could have expanded his range to the 3 point line if he played today. He's one of those really good players from that era you tend to forget about sometimes. 2nd I have never seen a player play with the amount of energy on both ends as a young Michael Jordan. Great video. These are the games that showed why MJ refilled the entire arena and added more value to his team and to the NBA than he ever could be paid.
He put the league back onto the newspapers and into the television coverage. He was a key link in a relay with that Wilt, Kareem, Dr J, Magic/Bird and on through the chain that every player and owner and broadcaster since owes such a big debt. But he was probably the biggest catalyst out of all of them. I don't think there was a more famous athlete or one that was famous for a better reason.
Going back through the stats now shows what everyone could see with their eyes at the time. This guy was head and shoulders above his league. Someone will eventually get by each of his stats, that's the way of the world. But it will be a rare person that gets past most of them at once, particularly the per game (not the overall) stats and I doubt even those rare people will get past the impact that he made.

I don'k know that LBJ was a better all around player. LBJ is not a better defender (not even close, actually), definitely not a better scorer, maybe a better passer (I would argue that point because, when asked to do that, MJ delivered), he certainly turned the ball over better, missed more shots, lost more finals, but he has scored more points (he should, he's played in six more seasons than MJ).
