Update: Got my intake date for AFC Harrogate, 17th September
What is terms and conditions of service?
@@tamarasamuel9489 Stuff like minimum 4 years, DAOR window during training and more 👍
@@lukedavies3307 is there a link where I can find information on this?
that’s when i’m going 👍🤝
@@qwesianointing1750 Unfortunately I am not clued up on the commonwealth application as I am not a Commonwealth citizen. However it may take a few months after you submit your medical until the assessment centre. Again, for more info talk to your recruiter they will have more information 👍
Good info, I went to Glencorse and passed too some two weeks ago. I start on 3 September at Pirbright.
Thank you Luke, very helpful
Changed a lot since I went through there. I was there in 93.
I received best recruit. A lot has changed since. It is a beautiful place and Country.
Best times of my life.
I still go up there often to visit my Grandkids and Son.
Good luck on your army career
Very Educative ... waiting for my assessment my application is still on hold from common wealth#Kenya..wish you the best
I hear commonwealth applications can be tricky! Good luck with everything 💪💪💪

@@dylnewc9033 it was the 28th april. you would’ve been the ones just after i left aha. the staff were really good.
@@lukedavies3307 innit
@@lukedavies3307 I passed that time going to AFC Harrogate in September!
Very Educative..so there is no 2km run its only bleep test?
yeah just bleep test
how long did it take from applying to get to the assessment centre
about 4 months
Hi,
Please what does it mean when your recruitment detail reads "candidate support manager"
your candidate support manager is the person attached to you to get you through recruitment. ask them any questions you have
@@lukedavies3307 how do I get in touch with him because with my case it is only his name on my recruitment portal. No contact details of him
Hallo I have a eye vision of 5/6.Can that hinder someone from being recruited?
Hi, i’m not actually quite sure on that but i was fine with 6/5 eye sight which i don’t actually know what it means 😂 i j think my eye sight is fine though
What was your rooms like how many people did you have to share with?
it was a large room with lots of bunk beds and normal beds. i think i had about 12 in mine
can you use calculator during the cognitive tests ??
not the normal ones but i think the guys doing the maths test for the trades got one
Does a man need to cut his hair before going to the assessment centre?
i don’t think it’s a requirement and you don’t need a bald head or owt as you’re still a civvi, however id personally recommend having neat and tidy hair/ short hair to prove that you’re hygienic and smart etc. I personally get a hair cut before anything important and it’s a bit like a long job interview and generally you want a hair cut before a job interview to look tidy.
Hi mate! would next month ish be too late to apply for Harrogate? Thanks and congrats!
Hi, it took me about 4 months until i got to the assessment centre but that was due to problems with my doctors sending my medical records. If your doctors can send them fast then it would be shorter. But i don’t think it would be too late as there is an intake in March as well as September. Might be worth asking your local careers centre
@@lukedavies3307 Thanks for the response, best of luck for your sep intake!
Did you do the Jerry can run at the AC?
nope
@@lukedavies3307 okay thank you
Got mine Wednesday pal if i pass i will see you in harragote sept 17 to getting 12.6 on bleep going for paras who know u could be in my room
very true hope to see you there mate
lmk how you got on
@@lukedavies3307 got in only para candidate that got through
What did you wear for your interview ?
I think i just wore sports wear 😂 I was told that it wasn’t imperative to bring smart gear. Some wore suits though so i’d recommend wearing summet smart either way. Don’t think it sways their decision as long as you know some info about the military and training.
@@lukedavies3307 that's hilarious I took a suit 😅
@@jacobs3031 Yeah 😂 i shoulda but i think my knowledge helped me
What role are you going for?
Guardsman
Hi l am kevin l have araedly apply the British army bt their have reverted to me bt l have not given me the go ahead please can give me the go ahead
mate no 😂
i’m not a recruiter
is the BMI test still part of the medical?
Yes
They take your Height and Weight
Was the Bleep test on concrete ? Thanks
For me it was, yes. And I think it usually is done on a hard surface.
Cheers, my son is setting off to Edinburgh today 😬🤞🏻
Please when are they inviting me to the Assessment day.
How far along is your process?
After your medical is checked and all is good, hopefully within a few months 💪 However i do not know your personal situation as i am not a recruiter so talk to your recruiter.
@@tamarasamuel9489 6 months ago
@@lukedavies3307 I submitted my medical form 3 weeks ago and wanted to know the duration it takes before the invitation for the assessment.
Been there ten year ago a lot easier than expected. Regret not joining but wasn't offered my original job choice. Back then it was a 2.4km run along a resurfaced train track. We didnt do the barb test neither all that was done in the careers office. There was none of them pulling strength tests neither we had to pick up weighted bags. The team tasks look the same we had to use planks across barrells and things. I remember crawling through a concrete tunnel and throwing a dummy grenade. If you get the job offer take it I should of done looking back but was talked out of it.
Aye i’ve seen videos of the old assessment. I believe the dummy grenade throw is still sometimes done but it’s not that popular now.
@@lukedavies3307 did you do the dummy grenade throw mate? Was your run outside on the resurfaced train track?
@@lukedavies3307 one of the biggest challenges harder than selection is dealing with capita 😅 they were shocking.
@@jacobs3031 I didnt do the grenade throw and we did the Bleep test not a 2k run. I think i woudve done better on the 2k as that’s what i was training for
Also what Job role was you going for?
What happens after the assessment centre?
After the assessment centre, if passed, you receive a call from your recruiter who will explain your results (A or B etc) and you will be given your start date for your training within the coming weeks. With this you get a kit list of what to take and all your instructions.
@@lukedavies3307 Can i join British Army if i got Special Needs Learning Disability ?
@@user-pj6uk8zr7n Things like Dyslexia,Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia and Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome are all recognized by the army and are not a bar in recruitment. I’d talk to your local careers centre for more info 👍
@@lukedavies3307 I got learning Disability so would I be able to join
@@user-pj6uk8zr7n I’m not too sure on that, try talking to your
local careers centre they know more.
was this for harrogate?
same for normal entry too mate
Got kicked out because of being overweight
Damn! sorry to hear that. if you don't mind me asking what is your BMI pls ?
@@A_SHamza 35
ah sorry to hear that. work hard and be determined so that when you reapply you’re ready to smash it.
@@henryoseimensah1897 You can do it, as Luke said work hard and be determined never lose hope. mine was 33 when I started my process but now it is 27. still working hard before my date.
