  • You asked, we listened! Based on comments from our previous Top 5 videos we had an overwhelming amount of requests for us to cover intakes. So today, we’re going to cover our Top 5 Intakes for the 2015+ Subaru WRX.
    Contrary to popular belief, a cold air intake doesn’t add a ton of power by itself. Similar to a cat-back exhaust, you’re looking at around a 5-10hp gain. However, one can’t ignore the awesome change in sound from under the hood!
    Here’s our top 5 intakes for the 2015+ Subaru WRX! (In no specific order.)

    AEM Cold Air Intake: bit.ly/2J1gSmU

      I love my MAPerformance intake. The sound is amazing, but can see it being a bit much for some people. The power when coupled with a MAP Stage 2 E30 tune makes the car a completely different beast.
      Mine came with the green filter which I wasn't a fan of at first due to how large the gaps were in the media. It'll block larger chunks of sand, but fine dust can get through without issue. However, I did my first Blackstone oil analysis and while silica was very slightly higher than average, it wasn't enough to be a concern per the tech so the oil filter did it's job if anything. This was even after driving around after cone came off the velocity stack for a while due to not tightening it properly.. Completely my fault.. :[
      I will likely swap out the filter down the road though just for peace of mind. With the new filter I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the intake as I've heard good things about K&N filters.

    Can you use the Cobb access port tune with the grimspeed intake ?

    • @a1praz0
      @a1praz0 Před rokem

      For those wondering yes Cobb access port will work with any part. The pre programed tunes work with Cobbs line of parts. A shop or someone who can learn how to use programs easily can tune it better than the pre made maps. Cobb AP is an awesome powerful tool I would recommend to any wrx owner. However after the AP fiasco that has since been fixed I would recommend tactrix open port 2.0 it's a lot cheaper and in many ways more user friendly with more options. The Cobb AP is nice since it is small and easy to connect. Once it is married (paired to your car) tuning can be done fast and easily on the go. Tactrix open port 2.0 is a bit harder to set up with the user needing to download several programs on a Windows based laptop before they can start to tune.

I absolutely love MAPerformance as i used them for every purchase of my mods but they definitely need to have a box with their intake IMO. The AEM intake is trash and dont know why anybody would want that intake.. this isnt the 90s where AEM was the best back in the day. The two best intakes for the FA20DIT wrx is either the overpriced cobb or the Grimmspeed stealthbox which i have and i absolutely *LOVE* it. I wouldn't imagine so. Unless they can prove that the failure occurred due to air induction issues. However, since they require a tune, you may need to ask some questions about the tune and Subaru's handling of them.
      Minor modifications don't just void warranties entirely, and as far as I know it's on Subaru to prove that the failure occurred due to the modification and not an unrelated part of the vehicle. But they are a car company so their initial response would be to blame mods outright
