- In the year since the Robb Elementary School shooting in Uvalde, Texas, much of the blame for law enforcement’s decision to wait more than an hour to confront the gunman has centered on the former chief of the school district’s small police force.
But a Washington Post investigation has found that the costly delay was also driven by the inaction of an array of senior and supervising law enforcement officers who remain on the job and had direct knowledge a shooting was taking place inside classrooms but failed to swiftly stop the gunman.
The Post’s review of dozens of hours of body camera videos, post-shooting interviews with officers, audio from dispatch communications and law enforcement licensing records identified at least seven officers who stalled even as evidence mounted that children were still in danger. Some were the first to arrive, while others were called in for their expertise. All are still employed by the same agencies they worked for that day. One was commended for his actions that day. .556, .223, 7.762 bullets were made, tested, and designed specifically for combat operations. (Just another reason to ban .223, .556 and 7.762)
Anything below a .556 (hunting caliber excluded) was made for civilian use.
The AR15 was made for civilian self defense. BUT the platform is a watered down military grade M4 and we both know that lmao.

If course it is! But over 100 police officers were on the scene. It's a symptom of a much larger problem. The second amendment needs to be severely modified, it was designed for tyrannical governments oppressing the population. But let's just be realistic, do you think that the disgruntled Americans stand a chance against the US military? The way that the second amendment was written is pretty much obsolete, Americans vote to put politicians in office that closely reflect the views of their constituents. The NRA is an organization that is really not your friend, I hate to tell you, they are an organization that is in place to help the firearms industry. They don't care about the carnage that the product that they are here to protect causes. The NRA has convinced a large segment of the United States to believe that the government is here to take their rights. The fact e, that the right wing ideology is actively taking rights from women, minorities, LGBTq and other so called undesirables. If Americans could wake up and start thinking critically, we as a population can advance from this stagnant state of government.

I couldn't believe he could say this with a straight face. After so many school shootings, even a loud balloon popping in a school would be interpreted as someone in there killing children. Maybe a few decades ago you might be excused because the killing of innocent babies was unheard of. But after Columbine and especially after Sandy Hook, you know who is dying after the sound of each gunshot. If you didn't have the balls to risk your life, fine. But don't insult the families by saying you could never even imagine he was shooting kids. Just plead the fifth and shut up.

To be fair whoever was in charge of their training/certification needs to be fired too. In the military, trainers know you will be scared, that's why training is so important. Just seeing the fat officers waddle around huffing and puffing tells you all there is to know about their training standards. You won't find a fat firefighter anywhere is the US because they actually have standards.
The parents were trying to charge through the police perimeter and save their kids but guess what... They were arrested.

As a two tour combat veteran of Vietnam I can honestly say that this was a classic case of cowardice. There is not one of those officers that I would have on my team in combat. I wouldn’t trust any of them with my, or my men’s lives.

The SCOTUS ruled that a LEO does NOT even have to stop if they see you getting beat up on the side of the road. They have Qualified Immunity and are not forced to defend or protect anyone if they dont feel safe to do so. Again, thank the SCOTUS.

The one true hero that day was little angel Kloie Torres. She’s the little girl who covered herself in the blood of her dead friend to try and stay alive by playing dead. AND she is the child who made 3 or 4 calls to 911 during the 77 min LEO circle-jerk pleading for help, advising there were dying victims and other kids still hiding, she even told them to send an ambulance. What a truly remarkable little girl, such bravery…the image of her sitting on the school bus covered in blood is absolutely heartbreaking! I hope Chief Pete sees it every time he closes his eyes !
The mother who battled to get into the school to get her kids out, ended up letting two classes of kids out!!! she sowed the cops up that day!

I was a commissioned officer in Houston.... the level of incompetence laziness and cowardice was astounding. they could fire all those officers and hire the 10 year old girl to replace the entire police force... she was the only one with an ounce of integrity (besides the teachers) trying to protect the students in that school that day.

That is why Scott Peterson in Florida, the ONLY officer on scene at the Parkland school shooting, was tried and found guilty for failure to act. They said that he should have gone into the building, before backup even arrived, to attempt to neutralize the shooter. A mother runs in and saves her kids and more - the cops with shields, vests etc did nothing hearing kids screaming and crying. They even stopped a father who was an off duty border officer from going in.

It's heartbreaking knowing that with all these officers none of them had the bravery like the mother did.

There was also an officer who’s wife was one of the teachers who were killed, he was the one who checked his phone in the hall because of his wife, he tried to rush in but other officers pulled him back, what a failure this whole department did, those poor children

He asked her if she was hurt, and she said she wasn't hurt, but her friend had died. When he asked who her friend was, the little girl said his daughters name. This fucks me up. I can't imagine arriving at a scene only to find out my own child was one of the victims. Maybe this is the dad you're thinking of?

This is a hard video to watch, not because it shows the children, but because it shows the total inaction of over 200 law enforcement personnel from 5 different branches of law enforcement. This demonstrates the confusion and total lack of communication between local officers at the scene and the lack of interagency communication. It also shows the total lack of balls needed to execute the training that all of these officer have received to take down one shooter. All I see and hear in this video is 77 minutes of excuses by officers not to go in and take down the shooter.

Bottom line - for 76 minutes, no one wanted to be the one that MAY have been killed entering the room first.
That first officer was on scene for over an hour and did nothing. Tears fall as I watch this. Those officers, agents, constables and troopers needs to be charged.

The cops were scared! They don't like when someone else is welding the power that they have. We need to have brave,men, women, and anyone in-between, to handle these situations. I'm an advocate for police officers to be as qualified as doctors or lawyers. I believe that we could get more production from a smaller amount of highly trained individuals. They should all be experts in human behavior, they should also be exceptional physically. We need people that are the equal of a navy seal. I believe that when we get these types of people to be our protectors and servers, the American public will have a better relationship with law enforcement. We as Americans are not even close to that.

they didnt know kids were even there. i dont blame them for that. i blame them for not CHECKING to see if there were kids there in the first 10 minutes of being there. instead it took 32 mins before they started to look.

This breaks my heart every time I see these videos. I’m a police officer and I have always ran towards danger because I chose this job. But what makes me even more angry is these coward cops stopped a university police officer and took his gun from him because he wanted to go inside and save his wife and the children! As a soldier it mortifies me that they refused to move in. I’m not gonna sit here and pretend I have the training these officers might have (war and policing are different animals) but I think I speak for a lot of us that we’d charge in, no matter what weapon, what armor, whatever we may possess, with the mindset of “either he dies or I do”

Im an irishman, who has been living in the US for 7 years. My wife is American, and my children are American. The day this happened, I came home from work and my wife looked at me and said, "We are moving to Ireland." The US police are filled with cowards and monsters. It is their job to risk their lives to save innocent people. Nobody asked them to do that, they signed up for it. Every member of the force that day should be fired, pensions withheld and barred from holding a government job, and never allowed hold a fire arm again.

Actually unfortunately, the supreme court ruled that the job of a Police Officer is not to protect the civilians, or to protect property, their job is to protect themselves, and to enforce the law, by supreme court ruling, police officers are not required to help you, even if your being assaulted, by law police officers don't have to do anything, they can watch it happen, and leave you to die.

A little girl gave her life to give 911 operators a message that some of the children were still alive. She was then killed. The police waited another half hour. They still have badges.

Right after this happened, I saw a news report with Brett and Nikki Cross. They had been raising their nephew, 10 year old Uziyah Garcia, and he was more like a son to them.
Brett Cross said, "We shouldn't have had to have 21 funerals. We should have been having a parade for the fallen heroes that took care of our babies."
That statement has stuck with me and I think of him everytime I hear about Uvalde.

I don't think older cops are ready for the madness that we live in these days. I mean the fact that he didn't expect the gunman to killing the kids is telling. But that said him holding back other people is messed up. younger officers wanting to engage couldn't.

I’m all for supporting cops out there and when I first heard about the shooting the cops’ response to it, I just thought everyone wanted someone to blame since the shooter is dead. But after watching this and several other videos, I can now see why so many people are upset with them. They really fucked up. Truly. And the fact that most of them don’t see what they did wrong is just scary! I can only imagine what the survivors and the victim’s family must feel like. Watching this and several other videos was so frustrating. So much miscommunication, no one taking charge, and absolute cowardice is what screwed these children and teachers over that day.
Thank you, Washington Post for doing such an amazing job on investigating this horrific tragedy of this botched police response. I just wish somebody would of had the balls to take a bullet to try and save those kids
