  • This weeks video I discuss how Offsetting Momentum will benefit your golf game.
Offsetting momentum helps you not only control the arc of the swing but can also add effortless speed to the swing.
The bodies roll in the swing is not only to stabilise the swing but also control the path by offsetting momentum. This is done by continuously pushing away from the clubs momentum.
Momentum is a straight line force and it needs directing to create a circle, imagine a Hanmer thrower and how they continually push back away from the weight.
The best way to feel this yourself is ask a friend to grab the club head and play tug of war as soon as they apply force and pull away you will instinctively pull back and your body/hips will push away to add stability. This is the feeling you need in the golf swing.
Doing this you will be able to control the clubs path and create effortlessly speed. The faster you push away the faster the club will swing.
Thank you for watching I appreciate it. If you like this video please give it a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel.
Happy golfing and I’ll catch you next week.

    Hi Matt,
I follow every reel of yours. Thanks for doing this.
When we are constantly pushing away then do we still need to think about timing the club head in the downswing with the lead leg pushing the left hip back ? Won’t it happen on its own as long as we are constantly offsetting the momentum by our pelvis rotation/moving in straight lines ?
One less thought in the down swing to consider will always help.

Hi. Thank you for your support I really appreciate it 🙏
Essentially they are the same move. If you can do it by the feeling of pushing away you’ve hit the jackpot, better still feel the pressure in your feet. Some golfers struggle with the left hip more than the right hip (feel of pushing away) so isolating it to the left hip is needed sometimes, hence left hip back drill.
I hope that explains it 👍

Can’t believe how this creates more speed in the swing 👏👏
