Thanks again Eric! Yes, all of the barber students have bare forearms from testing the blades...the good old days. Great advice.

Thanks Erick(sp) I sharpen knives to a mirror polish but I know enough to know a razor is not a knife. I’m new to straight razors and have been enjoying this series.

I gotta wonder how often a blade should be honed...I'm interested in buying a full on straight razor since right now I use shavette straight razors where I just have to replace the blades. I'm the only one using the dang thing and it's not like I'm gonna share the razor so I've been thinking of going more old school. But if I get one I'd like to be able to hone it myself once I can get everything together since there's no local places to take them to or send them to for them to be honed...

sorry but i am looking forward to the answer. I'm a big fan of vintage things, especially about this vintage razor. it fascinates me and makes me want to create something special but Vietnam is nothing but the stories told by my ancestors. I am missing information about steel process and material (steel type). I tried consulting some people like LEWIS RAZORS. but that's still not enough, I failed several times.
PLEASE . WHAT IS THE BEST MATERIAL FOR 1 Razor. And IMPORTANT INFORMATION? I REALLY THANK YOU.

Finally got this spray . I stropped on 3" strip of balsa wood with CBN .25micron spray actually CUBIC BORON NITRITE 1step below diamond hardness , under 200 X the blade looks extremely polished like WOW the shave is awesome no tugging i use a boker celebrated and a 1940's German vintage NOTE ;BOTH razors pass the single hair
vertical cut which tells me hey " THESE GUYS ARE SHARP"
i pretty much follow the Lynn Abrams sharpening sequence . His sequence is perfected.

MICKIN310 where do you get the spray from?

You can get the diamond .25 spray from straight razor place or chef knives to go. Chef knives to go has the cbn spray and the diamond. Great stuff!!!
