- Square Enix has a new multiplatform plan that will focus on FUN and multiple plaforms which include new Nintendo systems, PlayStation, PC and Xbox. This proves what I've been saying for years now.

“If it isn’t fun, why bother?”
This quote needs to be on the doors of every development studio.
Agreed.
"If it isnt profitable, why bother?"
“We’ve sucked recently. Let’s not suck anymore.”
I’ll believe it when I see it.
Yeah...Square Enix has had a habit of saying one thing and doing another lately. I'm gonna have to see some actual effort put into getting back in line for more than 1 or 2 games before I believe it.
@@ShinKyuubi They had plenty of well-received games though.
When Square took the exclusivety deal, they thought that was the safe bet for them because Sony gave them a paycheck upfront, but they found that the payout wasn't worth it if no one buys the games
Kind of like esg front check…
Square Enix is going back to Nintendo exclusives, nintendo will beat them like a wive coming back from their sony ex. They haven't forgot what squaresoft did with the ps1, they will force SE to have exclusives on the nintendo for a long time.
Nin fan : just give us kingdom heart. Full collection no cloudly edition
SE : 😅
Kh3 was the only title I would've justified being a cloud game.
But literally all other titles were on previous generations. And them also being cloud games screamed laziness
Those being cloud, I've never been so hype and immediately disappointed in my gaming life.
i'm good i can do without kh lmao
@@israelruiz8706I have a theory that S-E could've ported KH I, II and 3D natively to the Switch, I mean, we're talking about remaster of two PS2 games and a 3DS game, but a higher up at S-E or Disney said, "No, all of Kingdom Hearts games must run natively or cloud, you can't make an exception"
@@LRrealestSame bro, when I saw Resident evil Village "cloud" version, I lost all interest.
It's really funny watching all these companies see how insanely profitable Nintendo is and realize they f'd up. Now they're all backtracking when they should have listened to Nintendo in the first place.
eating their words. Nintendo gets so much disrespect for releasing underpowered consoles yet soars above the clouds every time because their games are a heck of time with tons of replay value
@@phoenicia1313 KEKW as always Nintendo fans blinded by their love for 3 franchise with outdated , stuck in time game design. We won't talk about graphics since at least your are not delusionnal on this point.
Let's make it simple, companies are looking for profit not customer approval . Nintendo sells very well games that require 0 efforts in the making and ports of other consoles so they don't have to change good for them. Sony and companie tried to cancel Nintendo by not selling their top game on it. Seing that it has absolutly no negativ impact they change of strategy " let's make a maximum of sales on our game" which means re release on every platform possible.
@gabrielgallix1377 what are these 3 franchises?
@@gabrielgallix1377you already ruined your statement when you mentioned graphics.
People primarily buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games. It's that simple.
As for the ridiculous sales of the Switch, we'll, Nintendo has THREE models on sale. You think that parents with multiple kids, who have the money, aren't buying 3-4 Switches alone? Of course they are. The Switch sales numbers only indicate how many total units have sold. It does NOT indicate the number of people who own a Switch.
Hell, I bought the Zelda OLED Switch for my daughter's boyfriend last year. He already had a Switch. I already had a Switch. My kid already had a Switch. Three Switches, three people, then we added another one. I'll be buying an OLED for myself if the price drops enough and then I'll have two Switches. My current one which will stay glued to the TV, and the OLED which will be my primary handheld. At that point, I'd imagine within a year or so, three people will have FIVE Switches. This is the demographic for Nintendo.
Another example: Sega making the Like a Dragon (Yakuza) series multiplatform just four years ago or so, especially on PC, was a godsend
Just hope that the Yakuza games will be available on Nintendo's next consoles, because it seems Nagoshi was against Yakuza's games being on the Switch after the failure of two previous games on the series on the WiiU and because he and his team said that the there isn't an audience for their games on Nintendo's consoles because it's not and underground system
@@pablocasas5906 I'm pretty sure it was Yokoyama who said that. Either way, I hope it does come to Nintendo soon
That would be a day-one purchase for me. I think the series, especially 7 and 8 being JRPGs, would do decently well
But making a Valkyria Chronicles 4 multiplatform was a massive failure, thats probably why they go back with Sakura Wars 2019 and Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Shodown (both games also directed by Nagoshi) back to the Playstation 4 ekslusives, and also failed (like any non Sonic and Yakuza game outside of Japan). Even Bayonetta 1 floped so hard, and this title was multiplatform, after that Sega licensed IP to Nintendo.
@@nr2676 I hope that SEGA considers porting the latest Sakura Wars game to the Switch's successor, perhaps the game could find an audience on Nintendo's console, though I'd love to see a remake of the original Sakura Wars
Remember when Square said that people don't play games for fun anymore?
Yup I remember
What's the actual wording with context?
Said it when FF7 remake was first announced and this just confirms it. Not making it for the switch or developing it with the switch in mind for a port later was a huge mistake. Star Ocean 6 and Valkyrie Elysium are other examples.
switch 2 will def handle games like that there will be no excuse anymore and they know it
I don't think a Final Fantasy VII Remake for the Switch would have worked, at least not on the scope S-E wanted the game to look
If the leaked specs are genuine, perhaps the next Nintendo console would be able to run FFVII Remake, but I have my doubts regarding Rebirth and the the third part
@@pablocasas5906They could've ported the PS3 version to the Switch.
I'm not surprised that they are now going multiplatform and focusing more on Nintendo. Sony and Microsoft are now in a worse situation than Nintendo was during the Wii U era. Now it's not just that their consoles and games are selling poorly like the Wii U. Something like 20 or 30 thousand Layoffs. A Bad Reputation. Games cost way too much to make. And Nintendo's biggest competition is now so successful that it can't get any better
I had feeling they do this every game will be on every systeam
Square needs to just admit they messed up on FF7 remake/rebirth. The story is not as good as the original and milking one game into 3 has proven to be too much.
Finally! Good Lord, Square. It's time to get up with the times.
That's such a meaningless phrase.
@@NuiYabuko What?
Yep I would be a day 1 buyer of rebirth and ff16 but I simply ain't buying a Playstation. I have a switch and pc and buying another console is not in the cards.
Same. They missed out big, especially now while the switch is quiet
@@IntrovertMaxxing I will get the eventual PC ports but by then the hype cycle dies down and they lose out on sales from a multiplatform launch.
Same here
Didn’t they renew the exclusivity deal with PlayStation recently? Wouldn’t there be legal implications?
@@The3rownie Yeah they would probably have to pay a fee but if said fee is less than the losses they would make then they would probably still just do that anyway since it's less losses than keeping the agreement in place.
“Chadley’s not fun”, is gonna be my new “No Diddy.” 😂
Persona 5 is also turned based something OG final fantasy fans liked when they moved away from that they lost a huge part of their fanbase
what do you think about a triangle strategy 2 and octopath traveler 3?
i could get into a octopath 3
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
2:20 fun and personality trumps graphics and power and performance that’s what made Pokemon good
The haters will never get that tho it’s always graphics this graphics that
Nintendo’s next console could have the power of a toaster and as long as I’m having fun idrc
What about both
There's no doubt the Final Fantasy ip is tarnished, it used to hold prestige, but after FF12 they really began dropping the ball.
I agree, but feel that FF slumped even earlier. FFX was the last game that really felt like a proper FF to me.
And FF wasn't pristine beforehand, many people disliked FF2 and FF8 because of significant gameplay problems, and while FF5 and FF9 are better received - they have weak stories, characters, tone, and pacing - and both games lack the emotional rollercoaster of most FF games from FF4 onward. FF12 started off great, before it fell apart into a half-baked Xenoblade Chronicles. Really, it's FF4, 6, 7, Tactics, and X that are the universally acclaimed games.
last good ff i played i think was 9 that game was lit
whoa xenoblade is waaaaaaaaay better than ff, let's pump the brakes here for a min
After Hironobu Sakaguchi left Square the FF games took tremendous nose dive in quality, and it didn't help that Tetsuya Nomura took over the creative role which has been a disaster for the IP.
FF definitely took a nose dive in reputation after XII but we can't really continue this narrative that FF sucks in good faith anymore. XIV is extremely popular in the MMO space and it's last two expansions both sit at 90+ on Metacritic. 7 Remake and XVI also rated high and were in GOTY discussions. Rebirth is the highest rated game this year full stop.
This should have been Square’s strategy from the very beginning and I expect them to aggressively pursue switch 2 because why would you skip the launch of the next Nintendo platform especially when that platform will still dominate Japan
A lot of people who enjoy JPRGs are on Nintendo platforms now so they would be stupid to not release their top titles there.
@@raskolnikov6443 I think that was pretty evident with the release Eiyuuden on the Switch. Yes, it has plenty of performance problems and it's not the ideal way to play the game, but looking at the sales numbers, the Switch version outsold the PS by a huge difference
I believe some Japanese developers are holding some of their titles for the Switch's successor, but I think it's going to take a while for the console to amass a huge install base, just hope that those later versions sell well
Future of Square Enix is bright. Can't wait to play Final Fantasy on the new Nintendo console.
I'm still having my doubts regarding the possibility that the next Nintendo console would receive a brand new Final Fantasy game alongside the current gen (or next gen, if FFXVII takes a while to develop). The Final Fantasy series has always pushed for having the highest quality graphics which are only attainable on consoles with the most cutting edge graphics, but seeing how now it was confirmed that FF XVI and VII Rebirth failed to meet S-E's sales expectations, I don't know if they will consider reducing the scope for the next mainline FF game
@@pablocasas5906 oh yeah I think ports are much more likely. Frankly I would settle for just being able to play FF7 remake/rebirth and maybe FF16 too.
I feel like Square Enix and falcom are like two sides of same coin, both have questionable decision when supporting switch. But with square Enix, they bank too much on PlayStation and rely too much in their flagship ip like FF, whereas Falcom yeah they still bank much on playstation, but they have slowly shifted by porting their games to switch and pc and also focus just on a couple of IPs like ys and trails series. The result is falcom is having positive financial results this year.
Falcom is very dependent on Japanese game sales, the moment they saw Kuro no Kiseki dip to 50k when they sold double that number in the past, and the Playstation software sales getting worse, they were quick to change focus on developing for Switch. Square on the other hand is focused on western sales and Rebirth not even having good sales in the west probably shift their focused on multiplat.
@@raikenninja4843 true but no falcom weren't quick on shifting to Nintendo switch. Heck initially falcom ceo kondo even try to downplay Switch. It wasn't until theur latest trails from daybreak being underperformed in Japan is where thry start to have an in house Switch development team nayuta being their first in house developed Switch port.
@@Mario123007 I meant quick as they just decide to develop for the Switch after Daybreak low sales rather than giving excuse like they always do. I've heard that they bought Switch dev kit after Daybreak and use Nayuta port to learn to develop for the Switch, with YS X as their first big day and date game.
They have parasite Eve. Can we get this back in like remake?

What square needs to do is get rid of their ethnic department. Disney keeps talking about quality yet they produce nothing of value SE need to do is control the budget and make good games.
Happy to see Square Enix is finally going support Nintendo systems more with the Switch successor. Lets hope this means native and not cloud only like KH. Hope Sega/Atlus....let's be real here. I hope Atlus fully supports the Switch successor from the gate as well and not pick and choose which game to release. Namco as well; because I'm getting tired of them as well. 😑

FF should also be party/turn-based. Stop it with the action nonsense 😌
Imo, turn based combat is kinda boring except in tactical/strategic games like fire emblem, UFO, civilization etc. But good for you that you like it. Have to admit I'm a Zelda fanboi though.
@@ErkkiPalmu I like it but I also think it’s part of what makes a FF game a FF game. It’s like trying to implement turn based gameplay in a Zelda game and still making it feel like a Zelda game. Next to impossible:)
I've been saying this for years: Make a turn based spinoff targeting the Switch hardware. Classic FF in every way. It would sell more than Octopath, Live-A-Live, Bravely Default etc. combined.
@@maharaja101 I agree
they sound like nintendo
Is that a bad thing?
Making a JRPG and not releasing it on a Nintendo platform is just self-sabotage at this point.
Square Enix and Final Fantasy has become graphics over games. Games are not fun.
It's because they've been following Sony's model since the PS1
I am sure the sales of Forspoken and Rebirth on PS5 were a big catalyst to this desicion along with new mindsets. Took them 20+ years to realize, but hey! It is never to late. The first step is to admit your mistakes, then work on fiximg them. This applies to life as well (y). SE games used to be be about fun while pushing the hardware but fun was first and foremost. Some games are still great like Rebirth but exclusivity has killed it. In the case of Nintendo, the fault has been on Nintendo with the below average hardware as those great titles SE has created recently cannot run there. I hope that is rectified with the new system and SE can port most of their stuff. Meanwhile, PC is there to cover up for it along with XBOX. Getting the money bag from SONY to get those games console-exclusive was a mistake they now see since we are not in the early 2000s anymore
Looks like Square is finally learning. I guess that Sony money is finally not seeming worth for those declining FF sales.
they making it sound like they're hemorrhaging money, i doubt they lost that much but they do sound pretty desperate lol
The SONY money bag was just quick cash that probably ran out quickly. The sales of those games (Forspoken, 16, and Rebirth) did not provide the return they hoped for.
I can picture a slightly lower res version of Rebirth coming to switch 2, also I think they should make a Mario rpg 2 with Nintendo
This approach is fine I just hope their big games won’t get held back game design wise by making them on the switch 2 because for exampleI don’t think a game like ff7 rebirth would be possible to be made on a switch 2 but I don’t know we’ll see what happens.
They will have to build their games with that in mind. Makes more sense financially anyways.
All games are "held back" no matter the hardware.
If these companies listened to OJ, they'd be making money instead of firing executives and canceling games.
Naw. He's not that smart nor business savvy.
Saying something like "Make your games multiplatform." isn't exactly difficult to come up with.
@@NuiYabuko, and, not to mention, his horrible pronunciation of the word "fiscal".
Really good news. I’m looking forward to Square-Enix’s future output!
They absolutely need to port the newer FF games to Switch 2 and X Box
Sony literally single handily bankrupt square enix
The leash sony put on them finally broke. Thank God. That exclusivity deal is part of what's destroying final fantasy.
Nintendo: *You could not live with your own failure. Where did that bring you? Back to me.*
I think SMT V was originally exclusive because Nintendo footed part of the development bill. It was by far the most ambitious title that Atlas has ever made to that point and it was in a series that typically has lower sales than its spinoffs
What is the action game with blonde girl with a sword?
Final fantasy?
valkyrie elysium
Mythra From Xenoblade 2 in nintendo’s fighting Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
As someone who loved FF as a kid especially 7, the remakes would be great to have for Xbox hell I got og 7 and the crisis core remake so just hoping it happens
Real big brains at these companies... 🤦🏽♂️
You mean that the game develoent philosophy that Nintendo has ALWAYS stuck to... Actually works?!
And you're telling me that it's a good idea to aggressively target EXTREMELY successful platforms that has been financially rewarding across all major territories?!
Who knew! 😮
The incompetence among these big publishers is utterly astounding. They could have hired anyone that frequents this channel for financial and marketing advice, and probably made a decent amount of money. I'm not even joking...😐
Have you seen this for a long time Sony's just not as profitable as a standalone platform as it used to be think about how successful 16 and Rebirth would have been if it wasn't locked on to just Sony alone
I can't believe how right you was, FF7 rebirth really disappointed me, i was expecting the best game in the world and ended up with an okay game. I do think it's a problem with square enix though not that their games are exclusive so hopefully they can sort it all out.
I don't recall whose video it was that I commented it on but I remember saying that Square Enix should have a little bit more action RPGs on the Switch alongside their turn-based ones and people went ballistic on my comment saying that the action RPG format isn't suited for portable play or that the Nintendo fans are more used to Fire Emblem so slower games benefit that system etc.
Now, I'm seeing the same folks that flipped out on my comment saying the EXACT same thing that I've said a few years ago. SMH.
“Fun is the flavor!”
Don't expect the next mainline final fantasy go multiplatform. Sony would probably fund development and market the next installment to keep it exclusive.
is all about install base, even if the PS5 is selling well, FF7 remake did well was because had the combined base of PS4 who was at the end of its cycle and the PS5 early adopters, and still a lot of people decided to wait for the pc release, for rebirth given only the PS5 install base, being half of the PS4 install base and people rather getting a new GPU than getting a PS5 yea...
we wil lsee how rebirth does once they open to pc, hopefully by the end of the month
I get that they should put FF xvi and vii Rebirth (as well as Remake) on switch 2; but that wasn’t an option with Switch one. That wasn’t about exclusivity, I really don’t think those games could be put on the current switch. The games are all going to pc eventually, probably. So, we’re really talking about bringing the games to Xbox. Xbox only has 25 million or so units sold. Almost none of them in Japan. Plus if you develop for series x you also have to develop for series S which is a bottleneck. It’s like developing for TWO extra platforms, one that is underpowered, in the hopes of what? Getting another 1-1.5 million sales? And getting those sales at the expense of losing the money Sony paid them upfront??
I really don’t think getting their games on Xbox will change their fortunes. The switch 2 will help. Getting these games on pc should help. But there’s a larger problem. Audiences in Japan aren’t connecting with Final Fantasy. If they don’t deal with that, they won’t pull out of this nosedive. Maybe you could make a game with an option to play action and an option to play turn based. OR make two versions of the same basic game. Maybe have an action rpg following one character and a spin-off turn based game following a different character. The games would stand alone, BUT if you want the full story, you can play both.
Or, if you have to pick one, I think you need to go turn based. Clearly, the Japanese market has a problem with action based FF mainline games. I also think the medieval setting was a poor fit. I know that’s not what I like in a FF title. I think the lukewarm Japanese reception of xvi carried over to Rebirth.
releasing a AAA game exclusively for the PlayStation 5 is not a good decision for Square Enix, because the PlayStation 5 has been very problematic from the start, especially the price issue which has soared very far from the price tag it should have due to the actions of resellers in several regions, making PlayStation 5 sales being low and losing momentum, as well as their decision to sell exclusive first party games to PC, I think in the future PlayStation sales will not be as good as Nintendo, or even Xbox with their Game Pass
FF xvi deal expired in december still no where to be found.
True because sony gamers are not the same as those of yesterday year. They argue with xbox but literally play xbox type games. They are not actual sony gamers. Many sony gamers have picked up a switch instead and so many of those that would support Jrpg’s no longer have a PlayStation console.
I think the business focus isn't so much the problem, its 100% the Game Design and Story department. Final Fantasy was synonymous with quality because they didn't take themselves so seriously with all this over the top anime crap (and I like anime), its because their action games SUCK, their ATB Turn Based games were and still are fun. FF 1-9, & Chrono Trigger were all ATB and NO ONE TALKED JUNK. Yes multiplatform is a help, but its a bandaid if no one wants to play Tetsuya Nomura story garbage that can't even keep a storyline together much less be a cohesive satisfying it experience. Also bring back character development which Persona does in spades, and THATS why Persona outsells Final Fantasy.
Chrono Trigger!
Chrono Trigger!!
CHRONO TRIGGER!!!
All I want from SquareEnix, right now, is Chrono Trigger!
Bringing Nintendo in would help them with the sales.
Will there really be that much of a change, though? Most of their exclusives are timed and they do release a bunch of games, especially the "smaller" ones, multiplatform anyway. The only difference would be if they target Nintendo platforms first and then up-port the games instead of down-port.
I hope they bring all the tales of and Ys games to Nintendo now.
That's up to Namco and Falcom, but I'm pretty sure Namco will port Tales to Arise to Nintendo's next console
Part of the problem is that I don't think they can do much with the 2 current FF games. They probably got more money from Sony than what they would have made on Xbox, and there is no way those games would run on Switch. They had every intention of having them on PC, but they wanted to focus on PS first. Which makes sense, but could be a mistake. So they kinda only cut out Xbox. Also they would be dumb to not port games over to Switch 2.
Current FF games no, old FF games yes. Hell they could've ported the old PS3 FF 7 to Switch, I mean another company got the freaking Batman Arkham Trilogy to run.
They're most likely being worked on right now for the release of the significantly more powerful and capable Switch 2 that will release in the next year sometime
@@MikeTheEnforcerthe old ff games are all on switch though
I think they need to be on Nintendo Switch 2 for just about everything, I think they need to be on Xbox but maybe not gamepass cus that thing is a trainwreck in the making. The PC and mobile thing is also interesting because they're thinking about putting more mobile stuff on PC but not on Switch? I feel like stuff like an offline version of KH Union X or Nier reincarnation would go crazy on Switch but they just aren't investing. I think missing link could make its way to PC though according to this new strategy though which would be cool.
To be fair, going exclusive on PlayStation seemed like a safe bet in the height of the PS4 days and the Wii U’s blunder years. Who knew it would be such a screwup decision. It’s impossible to ignore the Switch’s massive 142+ million install base.
Tidbit about the relationship of Sony and Square, they have a very strong relationship, you can see with the Final Fantasy animated movies produce by Sony Pictures. When FFVII for the Playstation Classic, Sony helped them funded the game. When PE said it's not the PS1 and PS2 era, yes during the 32-bits era, Playstation was the leading market and Square games sold well on the PS1, and then Square heavily supported Sony when the PS2 was out because most of the games sold well there, thus there is a reason it's called the PS2 Era, other consoles couldn't compete. Only the HD Era and beyond Square went multiplatform, I still remember when PS fans got mad at Square for making FFXIII multi-platform. Kind of weird why during the PS4 Era, Square decided to make some exclusive games on certain consoles.
Whether you like it or not, FF16 and ReBirth making it only for PS5 was a mystery, unless Sony gave them a lot of money, can't blame them, I mean remember GTA3, Microsoft paid a lot of money to make some exclusive DLC. Bottom-line, it's not working, especially those 2 games. At the same time, not gonna lie, it's irritating when Square makes games only on Switch, especially Octopath Traveler 1 still not on PS. Hopefully moving forward, their games will be multi-platform, no more console exclusives, especially on the Switch.
FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE AND REBIRTH COMING TO THE NINTENDO SWITCH 2 HEEEEEYY!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Rip Square. Rebirth will be the last game i will buy from them
I want rebirth on ps4 and kingdom hearts on switch or at least on the switch 2.

Switch has Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Smash Bros, Street fighter 30th anniversary, No Man's Sky, FF 1-10, 12, Mario Kart, and independent games like Shovel Knight and Shantae. Who said Switch doesnt have high quality games?!
You can do a niet automata port but no a kh3 port? Wtf square enix
What we have to understand though is that ff15 sold only 9% of the total sales on the Xbox. We have seen since last generation that PlayStation sale at times are 80% of all the sales of any given game. Mana is not going to sell 2 copies on the Xbox so that’s not going to move the scale. They need to focus on the ps5/switch mainly
Hogwarts legacy has sold over 20mil copies and the break down is almost 70% of the total sales on the ps5/ps4.
On top of that ff7 remake and ff16 have only a 6month exclusivity deal yet square didn’t go ahead and release the game on the Xbox we all know why. Nobody was going to buy it on it and the switch is not powerful enough to run those type of games. For the next 3 years SE is going to release ff16 and ff7 remake on the switch2 I hope but on top of that we all know ff17 is going to be exclusive to PlayStation again. SE is saying it themselves this is a 3year project for them not a company wide shift.
just make fun games , haven't they said this before lmao we'll see, they have so many fun IPs they needa just pick 5 or 6 and make em huge
I’m loving this!!!! Square Enix should put more games on the Nintendo Switch, all we get is 2d 3d games. 😒
PC multiplat is hurting PlayStation brand.., just knowing it will come to PC later or even it could come to PC later, slows the PS5 version sales (as PC versions can be modded too...)
They don’t really have a choice. PC has gotten bigger and easier and anytime a device of theirs has had to compete with the PC or PC equivalent (PSP and Vita vs. iPod/iPad, they ALWAYS lost both in multimedia, and in market reach.
@Darknight0681
PC was always spread thic, but it hurts the PlayStation / exclusivity brand.., if Nintendo did the same, even if only releasing 1 year later officially on PC, it would hurt Nintendo badly too on the long run
...
Playstation is still the best place for SE, besides Switch.., hurting the platform you could make the most money on is not ideal..
... but Playstation shot themselves 3x in the knee, 1st too long cross-gen releases, 2nd PC ports of exclusives, 3rd too much DEI influences
Good. Now if only we can get them to stop censoring games.
hi OJ
I was interested in the ps5 when it released but now honestly I just don't care enough to buy it even though I can afford it. I'm actually just waiting for the switch 2 and see what releases on that
They are so exclusive that they kept the game away from possible new fans. 😂
Hopefully this means the news mana game will come to nintendo
FF7 is a mistake. Should have been a faithful remake, not some stupid reimagining. And it shouldn’t have tried to go more than 2 parts.
Port Xenogears, thanks.
*Nintendo will capitalize off the death of console gaming* 👍
Console gaming had been died. The moment Microsoft and Sony turned it into a gimped PC in a box and started getting a huge influx of those titles, the console as most people knew it is LONG gone. At least outside of Nintendo. The reason those PS and XBOX consoles sold how they did at one point was because of how inaccessible PC gaming was. The moment PCs became easier like now, was the moment Sony in particular was in trouble. Why do you think Sony puts titles on PC now? Why do you think Microsoft has more or less UNIFIED the PC with XBOX?
Sony could also be pushing for the last ff7 to require psn even if single player like ghosts of tsushima.
Yeah ghosts has multiplayer but its a single player game first and foremost
The recent fallout of helldivers and ghosts probably accelerated this as while square has upset the ff base at times, having sony force psn to play the last game in the trilogy would ignite an open rebellion of the ff fans against square and it wont be pretty
Sony is trying to force Sega's hand on turning Persona into an exclusive series.
Let's see if Sega / Atlus isn't brainrot as Square, past and present.
That's false. Sega Atlus has been announcing alot of their games to the Xbox platform.

Share buybacks should be illegal. Its an artificial way of raising stock prices. The stock market itself is such BS.
This is nothing but a fat W. As a PC gamer, I hate having to buy Sony's latest console to play the latest Final Fantasy & Kingdom Hearts. Bought a PS4 for Remake, and it didn't drop for another 5 years
Hopefully, this means FFVII Remake Part 3 and Kingdom Hearts IV come to PC day one
Another to note Square have been making their PC ports exclusive to Epic Game Store timely and, in some cases, permanent. With them dropping exclusivity on AAA projects seemingly all together. Hopefully, this means all of their games come to Steam day 1
Yeah they're probably only doing this after Rebirth failed to live up to the hype in terms of profits. Paid more to make it then they got back in revenue.
Would have avoided this altogether had they just remade the game as a whole instead of over splurging on graphics as a justification to rip the customer off with three parts of the same game for almost three hundred in total... no wonder Atlas has completely shamed them with Persona; they made a COMPLETE game!
It's a lot more than FF7 being disappointing. They lost over $160 million, and profits are down 70%.
@@Droogie128 Yet they put so much of their faith in the premise that they neglected everything else. VII has definitely been the wake up call but it's too little too late. If they don't deliver on their third part of the same game now, the whole thing will have been a waste. As if it hasn't been already.
Down so much; I'm not bloody surprised.
@@The_Phoenix_Saga It's a much bigger problem than FF7. It wasn't their wake up call. This has been in planning for a long time. FF16 didn't do great. Avengers, Forspoken, Babylon's Fall flopped hard. Their stock has been in free fall since September.
This isn't something they just do on a whim. They've been anticipating this for a while, and they have to tell shareholders something as the fiscal year ends. It also just so happens to coincide with their exclusive contracts ending
@@Droogie128 You're telling me what I'm not disagreeing with. But you would have thought with how XVI failed in how Forspoken failed and in how Babylon failed that they'd have taken the hint - clearly it's taken VII to fail to make it sink in or at least admit it.
@@The_Phoenix_Saga they had to wait for contracts to expire to do anything major
Poor Chadley hehe.
but now the xbots will ask are there games going on game pass day one lololol
game pass day one 5,813 fps and 7,120p 60k dlss blah blah
People get upset over you saying PS games have to go multiplatform because when they do there’s not much left that’s exclusively on the console now that Sony is putting games on PC
new switch hardware being able to play ff16 and ff7 remake
I mean, if the leaked specs for Nintendo's next system are true, I think it could run Final Fantasy VII Remake, since that game was a PS4 title. But regarding XVI and VII Rebirth, I'm not so sure. But who knows, Square-Enix ported games like Dragon Quest XI and NieR Automata on the Switch
PS5 & Switch multiplat is ok.., they complement eachother well (handheld but weaker grafix or high-end).., but PC versions hurt PlayStation brand..
... SE won't care, but PC sales will never be great (unless its multiplayer..)
Not true at all. Games like Persona 3 Reload, Yakuza LoD and Tales of Arise were all the fastest selling entries in their respective series and also the first to release on PC day and date with the consoles. There's a market for these types of games on PC and I'm happy that Square Enix finally got the memo as well.
@@maharaja101
there is definitely a market for them.., but it ruins PlayStation & gaming as a whole
@@VampireNoblesse I agree it's not good for PlayStation, but it's definitely better for Square Enix. FF sales especially have been stagnating hard because of the PS exclusivity.
They need to limit their game release to just Nintendo and Sony platforms, Xbox isn't doing much for them since none of their games were on GamePass. Not only that they sell worst on Xbox compare to on PS5 and Switch.
About damn time.
Yes sirree
XBOX, NINTENDO NOR PC DESERVE FF GAMES!! ITS PLAYSTATION PROPERTY & SONY WILL MAKE SURE TO PUT THEIR FOOT DOWN ON SE!!
@@WhiteBoyJimmy 🤔 I always thought it was bots that made comments like these lol. U gotta be in Lala land to say some nonsense like this bruh.
@MassiveRican
U won't be getting FF16 or FF7 REBIRTH & that's just facts now deal with it!
@@WhiteBoyJimmy uh huh. I already 100% FFXVI minus the DLC and currently running through Rebirth. I want SE and the FF brand to have a ton of success and reach.
Multi-platform is how SE achieves that. A ton of the user base has shifted away from PS when it comes to RPG’s. I own all systems so I don’t need to simp for any one corporation.
Just because you think multiplatform will somehow be better. Not exactly... Because it cost more money and the sales have to be there. Nintendo hasn't gotten FF because of the hardware. Sony doesn't have exclusive rights to FF. They soent money working with Square to make the gajes bigger.. People are tired of games just being a coat of paint.
It’s so crazy how things have changed. I remember a time when it seemed like Square and Nintendo would never even speak to each other again. But over time they mended their relationship to where Sony is the one being stupid and Nintendo has their head on straight. I do hope Sony is paying attention to what’s going on and takes the right lessons from it. As much as they can make baffling decisions sometimes the playstion itself had stil always been a great console and I’d hate to see it go.
I actually find it very fascinating how after Squaresoft decided to develop games exclusively for the PSOne, that they practically abandoned Nintenod. While many Japanese third-parties ignored the Nintendo 64 for most of its run, they published some titles here and there, and some companies like Konami actually gave the N64 some decent support. But the thing is that those Japanese third-parties still kept supporting the Game Boy and Game Boy Color, all of them except for Squaresoft, they were that bitter against Nintendo that they didn't even considered making some Final Fantasy spin-off for the GBC, despite the fact that during the Pokémon boom it seemed like all companies were trying to make new RPGs for the Game Boy, even Atlus and Enix game the GBC a lot of support
What? Nintendo and square have been cool since the GC and GBA days. They've also been Nintendo's best 3rd party partner during the Switchs life
@@joed5150 Nah not really it was'nt like it used to be between them and it was easy to see. What's going on right now feels much more like how their relationship was before the nintendo 64. Remember Nintendo would've needed their permission to do the mario rpg remake and let's not forget almost every single final fantasy game is now on switch along with them having four charachters in Smash. If you had told me that would happen during the Gamecube and Wii Days I would'nt have thought it was possible.
@@joed5150 well yeah, but it always seemed Square (not Enix) only supported Nintendo's portable consoles. The only major Square title on the GameCube was Final Fantasy: the Crystal Chronicles, a spin-off title, it was the Game Boy Advance the console that got things like FF Tactics Advance, Mana games, remakes for FF I, II, IV, V and VI. Things didn't improve in the Wii era, the Enix side did release Dragon Quest IX on the DS and DQX on the Wii, but the Wii only got FF spin-off, they didn't even bother porting mainline games like FFX or XII, but the DS got plent of support, as well as the 3DS. I find it very difficult to believe that Square will bother to develop a major AAA game for a Nintendo console
Okay but when will Konami make a new Parodius. ... I've been waiting.....
Persona is not bigger than final fantasy stop the cap
Perhaps Persona, and most of Atlus games in general, aren't as successful as Final Fantasy, but I said they are growing in popularity with each new installment and they dominate the discussion in various gaming circles
