- Every once in a while, I have to step back and take literal inventory of what's occupying my time and resources in my car collection and make strategic decisions about what stays and what goes. That's part of the fun of being an enthusiast and getting to experience a lot of different cars. Here's an update as of today, September 1, 2022.

If you think about it, being a car collector isn’t easy. Keeping up with maintenance and spending time to drive each one to keep it in tip top shape is a lot of work.
I really like how you have a strong connection to a lot of the local Acura dealerships. It’s really cool!
You are absolutely right. And thanks!
I'm always intrigued by your Acura collection. The amount of love and care that goes into them is humbling. I say that because you're a rare breed. A lot of people just don't care for their cars like they should. I'm reminded at the sheer amount of absolute turds driving around everywhere. It's nice to see someone who actually takes pride in what they drive. I would love to visit your garage someday and be in awe. Great video as always.
You would be welcome any time! Thanks CJ!
Tyson needs Acura Rehab 💊 🚗 🚘 💉
awwww, thanks for the shout-out. I love love LOVE the teggy. You and a handful of Acura peeps did 335 miles in 13 months, the next 1921 miles happened in 77 hours! I'm super excited to bring it to cars & coffee this weekend and be parking in the VIP section. It probably won't get the love the McLaren and GT3 regulars get, but I can't wait!
REPRESENT. Love it! Can't wait to see some pics :)
Whenever I go to cars & coffee events, I look at the supercars and stuff, but they don't excite me. I get excited about stuff like the teggy lol
awesome collection, Tyson. The garage looks great. I like your thinking around a limit to the collection and your respect for other Acura/Honda enthusiasts. holiday greetings from Boston.
Hey thank you! I appreciate that. Greetings to you as well.
Adding “buy a car from Tyson” to my bucket list! 😅
Haha it’s an experience, let me tell you!
One of our favorite collections! Always refreshing to see a true enthusiast and fellow addict/obsessive caring for the fleet.
Absolutely! I know you can relate :)
Tyson, thanks for mentioning the National Acura Legend Meet (NALM) in Wichita, KS September 14-18, 2022. Looking forward to welcoming you to Wichita, and thanks for all your help in planning the event.
You bet! Looking forward to attending.
Wow, I had many Honda/Acura products (1984 to 2004 MYs). There must not be too many of you collectors, but for me it was avoiding the malaise as much as possible. Memories.
Thanks Jay, yes that's the era of choice for me.
For sure keep SLX that thing is a beauty
Thanks, I love it!
Just got new axles on my Legend Coupe today. Enjoying the ride and what's to come.
Glad you are giving your Legend some attention. Thanks for watching
Thanks for the update Tyson! It’s always a Joy to checkout the fleet.
Hey thanks for checking it out
Love them glad to see the legend with the ACURA license plate and the Integra. I have seen them at the Tempe Dealership. The Preludes are awesome too. They are why I fell in love with Honda my uncle had one.
Great cars for sure. Thanks for checking out the channel
Awesome collection of engineering gems. Now that you got it down to the whole 9, hopefully you can focus on preserving them with the "Tyson touch". All the cars you get your hands on become more valuable ;)
Hey I really appreciate that!
Thats amazing how your able to keep mileage records and maintenance costs records for all your cars, i think thats very impressive 🔥🔥🔥. Also at the same time its also motivating to see alot of vehicles with high mileage because it helps us see 1st hand that just because its been driven alot doesn't mean its time for an upgrade👍👍
Agreed, thank you!
Tyson got to say u inspire people who love cars like urself. Been a fan of urs since 2019 if im ever in AZ id love to see the collection and finally meet the legend of the acura legend
Thank you, I really appreciate that. Come visit any time.
@@TysonHugie id love that when i get a date and time ill keep u posted
SLX is truly an Izuzu Trooper 😂
Yes!
Acura Man - It makes sense the decisions you are making, the great thing you found good home for those Acuras. One of my favorite is the Prelude, Beautiful, had one similar but white, drove that Beauty through Pacific Coast - Loved it. Great Job buddy - Enjoy your trip road 66.
That's the plan! Hope your week is going well.
The NSX and S2000 I'd keep as permanent
Agreed
Just saw your appearance on Jay’s Garage. Last month, I donated a red 1989 Acura Integra coupe, w/ 205k miles on it, to a charity, due to it’s numerous issues, although, it still drove fine & still got over 30 mpg in it. Wish I’d known about you before I went & did that.
I think I saw it pop up for auction on insurance auto auctions and I was actually watching it but didn’t bid. So clean for 205k!
@@TysonHugie Wow! I’m honored you replied to my little comment. I was floored! I don’t know what auction you were viewing, but my old Integra was donated to a charity (local NPR station) & has already been sold off for an astounding (in my opinion) $1525! Apparently, someone saw more value in the car than I did, or was willing to jump thru all the hoops to search out a buyer. It looked good at a distance, but up close, the rusting out rear wheel well sheet metal (car spent the 1st 13 yrs or so subjected to ILL winters), drivers seat patched together ‘cause the material was so thin & prone to tearing, & it was still running R12 refrigerant in the A/C, so, basically, non-functional.
Thanks for letting me bid farewell to 1 of the best cars I ever owned…mikez, Mesa, AZ
Difficult decisions to be made but sometimes must be made for various reasons. I sometimes feel overwhelmed with 2 vehicles let alone 13. As care takers of these machines we do our best to preserve and keep them running in peak condition but it can be a burden at times. Great video!
Thanks, tough decisions but I think I went about it in a logical way! Hope you are doing well.
@@TysonHugie Doing well thank you Tyson.
Two take-aways for me - first you drive the half-million mile legend more than I thought and I need to find out where you post your vehicles when they go up for sale ;)
Yes! I try to drive the Legend coupe a lot to keep things going. I've sold cars through a variety of avenues. Most recently, they went out to friends, to auctions, and my TL sold within a day on OfferUp.
Man you are SO organized, I bet you never spend any time looking for that tool that was JUST in your hands a second ago.
Lol!!! Oh trust me, I’m not immune to losing stuff.
Legend!!!
Gotta love em
@@TysonHugie yes they are really good looking vehicle's!!
Ah, geez, what a great way to start off my Labor Day weekend! This is awesome. So cool that you don’t just sell your old Acuras/Hondas, but make sure they have a good home. Very excited to see the Legend coupe getting to stretch its legs on the way to NALM. Have you given any thoughts to a destination for the 300k ILX rollover? I hear Cape May, New Jersey, is a decent spot. 😉
Haha Cape May is on the list! The ILX is taking a while to rack up miles, now that I work from home.
And I was just about to send you some killer plans to expand that garage to fit 10-12 cars easily! :)
Haha, I'll still take the add-on! With a lift this time.
I'm curious about the story of your garage. At what point did you decide your hobby/obsession needed a 6 car garage, assuming you had it built for that purpose and it didn't come with the house.
It came with the house, but I bought the house because of the garage. Does that help?
@@TysonHugie yep! Nice find.
@@TysonHugie , That's an awesome collection. Your very fortunate to own these beauties. I hope one day to own a classic Acura .
Thanks for the update. You still got the modelcars on thr roof? Maybe you can put 1 or 2 new ones up there to see how they turn.
Yes I do. I need to get a new video of those.
This is one heck of a collection. You look young. How many years have you been at it? Do you have multiple battery tenders? Do you have regular Geico or collector insurance? Sorry for all the questions you have me thinking of picking up an old school.
I’ve had multiple cars since I was 17. I have 2 battery tenders. I have GEICO on some cars and collector insurance on others.
At least you don’t have to deal with snow with any of your cars in your fleet.
That's for sure
LMAO I’ve got 3 now and I feel I’m at my limit I might be able to pull off a 4th since I was caretaker of one of my sisters cars for a few years and had to juggle that one with parking and maintenance as well as my 3. The big issue is parking I only have one garage spot 1 driveway spot and both of those have sizes limitations my mid sized truck doesn’t fit in either and my TSX barely squeezes into the garage with both mirrors folded and just barely fits in the driveway without overhanging the sidewalk everything else is street parked and can only sit for 3 days at a time, I have street cleaning every other week so gotta move it or it’s a fat couple hundred dollar ticket (same with the 3 day thing)
Glad you can totally relate!
0:00 i would love to see the history you have with every car on those pictures!
Each one has a story!
Tyson - If you could only keep one, which would it be? Recognizing this is probably like asking a parent who is their favorite child....
Haha, exactly! The high mileage Legend coupe
Hi Tyson you should post another video like this to update your collection
Wow your timing is perfect. That’s coming up on a video this month
Just hit 200,000 miles on my 2009 Acura TL SHAWD 👍 👌 🙆♀️ 🆗️ 🆒️ 👍
Awesome, congrats Patrick
Should have kept the Vigor! Also you need another CL but the second gen type S
Agreed!
Love you collection and your channel, What are you bringing out to Radwood socal this year?
I was just thinking about that. I don’t know yet! What about you?
94 integra ls, paradise blue green pearl with 98 front end
Awesome update. Tyson what is the finish on your garage floor? Can we get the details?! It shines!!
there definetly is a video ducumenting this on channel😉
czcams.com/video/x5Y2-LIyxjk/video.html
Yes it's a 3 stage epoxy with polyurethane top coat.
I wanted my 13 ILX tech to have all the dealer goodies but it was hard to get that stuff, the new owner trashed it 😞😞
Sorry to hear about that!
I still think you should manual swap the SLX!
Haha that would be awesome for sure.
Tyson do you have any plans to maybe one day pickup a 4th gen tl awd or are you not a fan of that body style?
That's been a goal car for a while, especially with a 6-speed
Do you know of any Honda/Acura meets near Chicago coming up?
No, I don't, sorry about that!
There's a "southeast" Acura Legend (& others) meet usually in Maggie Valley, NC every spring - sometimes in NE Georgia. But a guy comes from Maryland and 1 from Michigan regularly.
Do you only purchase manual drives?
Mostly
What would you recommend to someone who is just starting to collect cars in a similar fashion?
Love seeing your collection and watching these videos. Hope to have a similar setup for Toyotas some day
What I'm learning is to avoid getting cars as "placeholders." I've lost money on most of my recent project cars. So if you are going to invest in restoring and preserving a car long-term, make it be one that you are saving for a specific reason and not just to check a car off your list.
