  • What is D-dimer test and how it is useful in assessing conditions like thrombosis and embolism? When a clot is dissolved , it produces fibrin degradation products and among them D-dimer is a protein that can be elevated in conditions like Deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.

So basically d dimer is a measurement of waste coming out of broken clot. If that's the case, what if there are too many clots but due to any unknown issue clots are not being broken proportionally? The d dimer value might show positive value but may not give the true picture. Is it a true scenerio? If yes then how it can be tackled?
