I have a large Cuisinart and a small Black & Decker multi from 30 plus years ago. I use the small one several times a week. Easy to get out, use, move, clean. Very practical for little jobs. I use the big one for bigger jobs like shredding cabbage, slicing lots of onions, making large batches of hummus, etc. If you love to cook and can afford and have room for both sizes, get them both!

I learned to drop in the garlic cloves while the blades are going. A very efficient method. Stop when everything is stuck to the sides. To the person who commented why use a FP for a few cloves of garlic, it’s for the beginning of a recipe, such as hummus, pesto, etc. The garlic chops up much better than with all the ingredients together.

I bought the small Cuisinart ages ago. How long ago? It was 29..00! Finally, had to get rid of it because of cracks ... the blades started to crack, the plastic started to crack ... I worked the hell out of it, to be honest. I subbed it for Kitchen Aid "medium" 6-cup processor. I'm very happy with it. In fact, I have two. As a single person, I simply do not need nor would I use or shell out money for a large food processor. Small ones are too small. 6-cup is just right.

I can see getting a large food processor if you have a large family, but I live alone with my son. I think my food processor is medium and it's adequate for my needs. By the way, I've had it since1997, and have had it repaired. It works just fine for my needs. I think the size of your food processor depends on the size of your family, among other things.

On the contrary if you are making garlic hummus you wont want and choped pieces in it but 1 close of garlic pressed would just do the trick. Even better if you roast the whole garlic clove in the oven and use it. To summarize, short cooking time = chopped

I have both the small chopper, and the 11 cup model, both Cuisinarts. Definitely a need for both as the little one as Adam says is great for small jobs, and indeed, it is for that, but for grating etc, the 11cup is great. Good for a single guy who enjoys cooking.
However, have had older versions of both, the older chopper is the same model as my current one, but in white, the lid had the locking tang break off when it got dropped, so got the red one just like it. The 11 cup, I initially bought used in 2010 for $30, complete and it was fantastic for years, until the lid broke on that one while grating mozzarella cheese, the locking tab at the front of the lid broke, causing it to flap about during use. Was replaced by the current one, same DLC-8 model, but with slightly different bowls that are BFA free and clear instead of the amber of the older one that dated back to 1982. BTW, tried to get replacement bowls, but alas, they redesigned the bowls so the current ones will not fit older models, thus had to replace it entirely.

I have a large Cuisinart, but not the one ATK always recommends, because their recommended unit does not have an adjustable slicing blade. An adjustable slicing blade is an absolute must for me. @@lemonz1769 I've had my unit for almost 5 years now and have had no problem with the adjustable blade. Single thickness blades last a lifetime because no one ever uses them because they are close to useless. Too thick for potato chips, too thin for most other things like slicing cukes to make pickles. Now, if a company wants to include 5 or 6 blades with the processor at no extra charge, I would consider it. But I am more than happy with my 11 cup Cuisinart Elemental processor, it does everything I need it to do, and can do things I would never consider doing.
Now, it is not a matter of being able to afford it, I am currently equipping my new condo with Miele appliances, which will cost me close to $75k, with installation, by the time I am done. But I will not spend money on something that cannot do the job I am purchasing it for.

The “bowls” of Cuisinarts all break down. Before the motors break down, the replacement parts have become unavailable over time. And so, time to throw it all away. What a waste.
A rounded bowl bottom ought to often be better; somehow those machines are always inferior to Cuisinart for most jobs. Why? IDK.

Isn’t it cheaper to put your stuff on CZcams rather than create your own site and pay for all that hosting cost

I enjoy using my knife. I can use my whisk. No need to waste $ on glorified gadgets.
