This Rack Solves 2 BIG Issues when hauling E-Bikes

  • The Saris Door County rack is specifically made for E-Bikes. The two most common problems with E-Bike racks are 1. Older E-Bikers can't get the heavy E-Bikes onto a rack. 2. E-Bikes are so bulky they block the taillights on almost all vehicles. This rack addresses both issues and will make it easier for you to transport your E-Bikes. It's a strong, well-built rack, made in America!. Go to saris.com/products/door-county for additional information and specifics.
    If it is not available on the Saris website, they also sell them on Amazon: amzn.to/3BqtuAp

    Great review. Just clicked the link to Saris for the price: $1300.. Yikes!!! For that amount of money, it should come with a person that loads and unloads your bikes from the rack!!!

    Tremendous presentation...This rack is almost perfect.... But, who's gonna lift it up and mount it on my trailer hitch???? If your able-bodied enough to lift a 60lb rack into the receiver, you might as well just lift your ebike up onto a regular bike rack... I do love this setup though! Thanks for posting!

    Bike racks here in the EU have taillights as a mandatory equipment. I think the tow bars we use over here (with the ball design) is much quicker to handle. But the lift function is really great.

    I really like this, considering I spent almost 1K for the Thule E bike rack which works great. However this has not only integrated lights, but the lift also. Well worth the price for a solid ebike rack, wish they made it when I bought mine 2 years ago oh well. Thanks for the video and great explanation.

    Great instructional video. I knew it was just a matter of time before these hydraulic e bike racks come onto the market.
    I have issues loading my heavy bikes. So I bought a super light weight hybrid e-bike under 38 pounds. Does the trick.

      That's pretty light for an E-Bike for sure. Anything that doesn't make it tougher is helpful and just means you'll get out and use it more often.

  • @loopedrevo

    Nice vid, Tom and thank you. I like the electric feature but for a 4in fat tire, those channels simply look too narrow. Did you sell your Thule?

    • @evolutionaryTom
      @evolutionaryTom  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for the nice comment, loopedrevo. No, I did not sell my Thule. The channels are narrow on both racks. The straps though make it really solid. The channel ends up being more like a shelf and a guide one they are strapped in. BUT, you can never be too careful. When I use to carry my motorcycle on a hitch rack, it took 6 months before I finally believed that it wouldn't fall off on the first bump. LOL

  • @mecoonie
    @mecoonie Před rokem

    How much do your bikes weigh? We have two fat tire e-bikes that with battery removed would be 67 lbs.

  • @patricksquires77
    @patricksquires77 Před 2 měsíci

    You think one can hook up the 7 pin then activate the lift THEN slide it into the hitch? Idea being getting it to raise itself… Trying to figure out a system for dear mother in law to not have to lift the 60 lbs to slide it into hitch…
    Purpose was to not have to lift anything😂
    Was hoping to find a system that would maybe have a bracket bit that more permanently stayed in the hitch then the lift more easily attached and detached as needed.

    • @evolutionaryTom
      @evolutionaryTom  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Whoever makes the easiest system is going to do very well. The E-Bike manufacturers need to understand who their customers are and many of them are older and not looking to be a weightlifter. I completely agree! -Tom

      @evolutionaryTom  Před 2 lety

      Thanks Tyler. With the lights and the ease of loading, I'm going to answer YES to your question. I'm not familar with the destination rack. I'll have to Google that and get up to speed. I hope you like your RCS XL as much as I love mine. It just took me to lunch on the island today!

      Ron, My 4" tires on my Juiced Bike RCS fit just fine. My opinion is that it sits in the tire rail as well as it does on the Thule EasyFold, maybe a bit better. The straps are very secure.

    Thanks, Tom! Regarding wiring, did you have a 7-pin system already set up on your car, or did you have to adapt/convert from a 4-flat to the 7 system? Is a conversion even possible given the Saris seems to require more than a 4-flat can provide. If you did convert from the 4 to the 7, how did you manage it? Thanks! Sam

    • @susanbergeron929
      @susanbergeron929 Před rokem

      I’d like to know this answer as well as I’d have to have the wiring installed. Expensive to have done?

    • @reevesproductions877
      @reevesproductions877 Před 4 měsíci

      @@susanbergeron929 I am guessing you have already had something done by now. A 7 pin must be wired into the vehicle separately as it has a constant voltage. Its not cheap and best to have the dealer do it as it can be tricky where the wires are.

    That rack seems severely undersized for your bike. The rails too thin and the straps too short. Saris could have done a lot better on this.

  • @jimji2774
    @jimji2774 Před rokem

    Really nice explanation thank you. That rack is just too much for me. Electric up and down maybe a foot pedal would have been cheaper and those lights look too big and easy to break when moving that monster around. The chanels should just have been wider since it was designed for heavy ebikes that often have these plus sized tires like yours. Plus the price of $1300 holy crap just too much.

  • @do-ineedtosay723

    Wish it wasn't $1,200. That cost more than my ebike. I might just mount a bright ebike brake light to my cheap [200 lb rated) bike rack. 🤔 That is all I can afford.
