The Shot Links guy by the green ended up tweeting that Kang cheated as well. Basically his shot was trying to cut the corner and he pulled it left. So it crossed the hazard 220 yards from the hole and never made it back into play. Kang argued that it came back in play and crossed the hazard again up by the green.
I'm hesitant to call someone a cheater over one incident... I don't think Sung has had any other accusations of cheating. One incident does not make someone an overall cheater. But I'm definitely here with Joel on this... he did the right thing to call him out.
Why is there no video footage of the shot to put the whole thing to bed once and for all?
because there were no cameras, if you follow the shotracker for Kang he really did cheat.
DrkViol801 These shot trackers are not as accurate as advertised. I see all the time on tour where ball doesn’t actually end up where shot tracer indicated.

DrkViol801 there are people on every hole at a certain position with a range finder and a map of the hole gridded off. The stats come from those folks. You shoot the ball from your position and report the yardage and the grid coordinates it’s in. You put it in a handheld device setup for your hole. I’ve done it for the RSM in St Simons. You have a radio as well. Let’s say someone hits a bomb. Guy comes on radio and asks you for the details. He then slips the yardage to the guys on tv so they can tell the tv audience DJ just hit it 330 etc .

I remember this incident. You'd be surprised how common stuff like this is on tour. Players don't want to call others out. Go watch Brooks Koepka talk about it. PGA doesn't want the word cheating to come out because there are players who cheat, like Patrick Reed. Other players don't want to call others out because they are too focused on what they are doing, and it shouldn't be their job to police other players. Good on Joel for stepping up.
I totally get the idea of cheating in golf. Whether its blatant or overly hedging the rules of golf in your favor. The thing that blows my mind the most, especially in Reeds scenario, is that its all on CAMERA! How do you think you're getting away from stuff when there is a camera crew watching you hit and you're basically mic'd up?

The most egregious drop that didn't receive hardly any backlash was when Eldrick chunk hooked one dead left on 14 at Sawgrass and dropped it 230 yards up the fairway and went on to win. Casey Wittenberg didn't say a word against it when the entire golfing world that was watching on TV could see it never crossed land except for the 10' in front of the tee box.

You are unbelievably dumb the shot tracker doesn’t follow the ball flight it only tracks where the ball ends up. The line you see on shot tracker is not the actual flight path, it’s just a line connecting where it started to where it ended up

Mad respect for Joel Dahmen for standing up against cheating.
How do you know Sung actually cheated. This incident wasn’t like the Patrick Reed one that was on camera, nobody else saw the shot and both Joel and Sung were 200+ yards out when the ball dropped. Plus there has never been any other incidents where Sung was accused of cheating nor have you heard any other player call him a cheater... At most there’s probably 50% chance Sung actually cheated.

There was no certainty that Sung cheated - Joel was possibly ruining a player’s reputation by making an allegation based on a somewhat speculative incident. If they want to discuss players who clearly are cheaters, they should discuss Patrick Reed.
All parties who were there say Kang cheated. Not discussing Reed, who is always discussed, doesnt make this untrue.
