LDV Maxus is a British brand under the ownership of SAIC motors, the 7th largest car company in the world. They are known for commercial trucks, but this time, Maxus Philippines brought in the 2021 Maxus G50, a multi-purpose vehicle that looks like a van, with an interior of a crossover. The 2020 Maxus G50 is meant to go head to head against the Toyota Innova, the current king of MPVs. It presents a viable option with it's feature set that is at par with the Honda Odyssey at the price point of a middle spec Toyota Innova. The G50 can seat 8 passengers, and has a lot of cabin features and tech that will make a lot of people happy. How about the aftermarket sales service and parts?
Currently, the Innova 2.8E DSL is priced at 1.32M. I used the DSL variant since more people purchase the Dsl than gas. And it has an interior of plastics, no touch screen head unit, cloth seats and drum brakes at the back. But this Maxus G50 with ultra loaded features is priced at 1.288M so it made the Innova so expensive. Only thing Innova brings in the table now is its long term reliability. And this baby also made the Xpander Cross expensive to buy. The only deal breaker with this Maxus for me is the gas engine and the DCT which I hope won’t be a pain in the ass for future buyers. Let’s hope Maxus makes a Diesel variant of this G50. And watch out for their upcoming kick ass crossover as well
Or get a 6mos to a year old Innova for 1M to 1.1M and sleep soundly everynight cuz you know its going to be dependable. =) Diesel rules!hehehee

It's a nice car. But that turbo gas engine won't last long as a diesel. And the dry type DCT? That's going to be a pain in the ass in the long run.
Maxus G50 is not a direct competitor to Innova, because it targets to rival the same category of 1.5 liter, 7-seater MPVs like the Mitsubishi Xpander, Toyota Rush, Honda BR-V and the Suzuki XL7.

There are no special taxes and duties for Chinese cars. They just sell it at a low markup than established brands. The typical Chinese style of doing business sells it cheap hoping to sell a lot of units.
There's an ASEAN-China free trade agreement if I'm not mistaken
Imported cars normally carry a 30% tariff in the Philippines. However, free trade agreement remove that. That plus logistical savings on parts procurement and a lower manufacturing overhead means more competitive pricing and features.

For me Innova... more parts and after sales support... although maganda rin naman tong G50 so depende na lang sa preference ng buyer.
Honestly napaka ganda ng G50! But I won't be satisfied until I see at least one of these with atleast a 200k km. mileage. Coz I've seen new models of innova, who've ran more than 300k kms. and still going strong with just proper changed oils and such.
Rattles from suspension? Common what can you expect from a brand new test vehicle? Is not it obvious?

this is better than gas inoova even not the top of the line leather sits in more luxurios interior the innva gas maybe can climb atb stif roads like in chocolate hills in bohol but you need to prees more gas...

You don't have to sacrifice your cool ride. A great family car that you can get, if you can find someone to sell your soul to, is a Land Rover Discovery.
