- In this video we do more sanding on the 1949 GMC Roadster pickup, then switch it up to work on getting her all running and wired up properly to be able to pull her out of the shop. Deciding to take the Roadster for a short little drive doesn't end so well !

Pipes out the back, for sure! Don’t mess with the body lines, looks great!! Man, what a bummer!!!
I absolutely love the way you stay so positive even when things go a bit bad. Thanks Brent for being you!
What an inspiration you are Brent, no matter what happens your attitude is always positive.
The thing I like the most about your channel is that you, unlike so many other, always finish your project.
It's great how you can laugh at yourself, it's one of the reasons your channel is so fun to watch, not to mention your ability to make cars out of junk!
You know you are probably the most humble person I’ve ever seen on these Internet, CZcams stuff you just crack me up and you take things with grain of salt love it
Stuff happens, Brent! You built it, you can fix it. No one died 😊
If the loose wheel is the only shakedown bug, call it a major win. Love the positive attitude.
Brent you are the bright side man!! ,anything goes down you just laugh and get on with it ,just the way it should be thanks man for soo much positivity
Pablo is such a good ole boy! He really enjoy's taking rides with you even if he can't get in without a little boost. If he wasn't 120 lbs he'd probably be riding on your lap!
After all the hard work , a simple thing like missing lug nuts brings about an accident and more body work and more sanding . You take everything in stride and continue on which shows you are resilient and prepared for whatever cones your way . Thanks for the video , God Bless you and yours , keep on keeping on , Stuart in Ontario ..
Put the exhaust out the back - better for long trips and keeps the side of the truck clean looking.
Your optimism and ability to laugh at adversity makes this channel hands down the channel on CZcams, don’t get me wrong, the fact that you build awesome creations also plays a big part, but I haven’t watched a single video of yours that you didn’t say something that made me smile.
Elio, I'm an old body man, and I kinda like sanding. Except around louvers, and 59 caddy quarter panels! Brent, any time you're gonna have a sanding party, invite me! I'm only 200 miles or so away, in south Canada (Minnesota)!
❤ what they say ...ca-ca happens...lookin sooo goood...happy kleen up 🤠
That sucks such a sweet ride
Wouldn't that be great if you had 6 bodies that build their own cars but as each project progressed the group would go to that individual's house and all chip in with new developed skills And make the thought process easier the solution's better and the effort divided. When you realize that you never start by painting your Resto car project you always do it at the end That's one of the smallest factors for motivation LOL it's done after the fun stuff is
Truck is looking great!👍
I like the switching around a bit. I love the honesty about the bodywork, who likes everything about everyhing?
Brent, I'm 69 and been working on old car projects all my life. Still have 3. I've yet to finish one. In my mind I know what I want to do but time, money and other interpretations have slowed my progress. Carry on sir and enjoy
As I have often told myself (and my kids) after one misadventure or another, "If you're gonna me dumb,, then you better be tough". That and " Eat dessert first" pretty much sums up my life philosophy.
Haha
Oak Swamp is a beast! Love his videos! Music is always top notch as well. The stuff he does in that little shed is amazing!
Love the exceptional attitude to what happens. I used to go out of my tree when things went sideways, but your approach is a much better path. The work still needs to be done whether throwing wrenches or laughing at the challenge. I need to follow your example as much as I can when playing with cars ..... and many other things in life. Thanks for the wisdom, Brent.
They have nothing better to do than criticize rather than get off their asses and do thier own thing. Brent just keep doing what you do. You never cease to amaze me. Your incredible dude
Poor old Pablo nearly had a heart attack there!
love the way you handled a real bummer situation, and were able to shrug it off and see the brightside and stay positive. entertaining as always, keep it up!
What a team! My favorite CZcamsrs all there making it happen. Love you guys. Billy J..... Queensland, Australia.
I like sanding videos. On a few of those videos, I got side tracked and watched all the videos on the general. You should be on Net, Felix, I think there's like 50. I'm in central Florida. I also have 2 cars needing body work. 70 years old and too lazy to go outside in 93 degree heat. Thank you, Brent. For being the teacher.
Dragging on? I’ve watched guys take 2 years to finish a project.
You’re as fast as they get! Plus I love the projects so take all the time. I’m as grateful as can be for anything I get from my CZcams favorite guys.
Love watching you work. 😊👍👍
I love the dynamic you and your pals have that helping you send that to little Truck and have an Esther there putting in her two cents which is cool. Makes it really pleasurable to watch you guys. Thanks again.
It's a common theme for every vehicle you drive. There always seems to be a "loose nut" behind the wheel! 🤣
All of us😂😅😂 that’s why I named my chevelle - leftnut
I love those sponge sanding blocks! I use them for wood working, fishing lure builds because they conform to the shape you're sanding! The rust blaster sounds like something out of an old '50s science fiction movie!
Brent rectangle out the side 3 or 4 holes. Old school NASCAR. Doddle it up I think you will like it even more. Also love simply love your channel. It's honest. It's true to life. Struggles and success. Thank you .
My heart sunk when I heard that noise I thought that's going to need some Sanding... Before that moment I was never more pleased to watch you and Pablo cruise along in complete Bliss he actually stuck his head outside of the window gave you a kiss and said thanks the best part was when he Was getting in the car and he only made it part way and he indicated to you if you don't help me you aint going anywhere either I will choose the most beautiful moment was your 2 faces cruising Most every negative has a positive Opportunity A possible outcome could be that you could build the coolest and lowest wrecker To create your own so to speak insurance I love this channel And I'm sure I agree with Pablo that you're the man
Brent you will get it done. I like anything you’re working on. Amazing how no matter the problem you will figure it out and always happy.
You’re amazing how you keep smiling through everything! I love it!!! I would have lost my mind when that wheel fell off!! 😂😂 Don’t ever change!!!
The Custom pickup is looking good !
Glad you latched on to Brian at Oak Swamp. I reckon he's a sorta Pommie version of you;
He's always up to something interesting.
You can tell Pablo has already made that HIS truck 👍
My dad's 54 chevy truck had the exhaust running up through the step and down the side of the bed rail. it was a 5 window. I sure am loving this build! Thanks!
Most defiantly helps when you have a team sanding and keeping good company while doing it.
I love the look of your truck Brent. Yup it takes a whole lotta time for a pretty paint job.
Wow! I thought you blew an airline and was dragging the tail end and then you got out. Lug nuts! Kind of important 😂 awesome build! Love your channel
Always enjoy sanding. It's one of my favorite therapy sessions.
Haha I need more folks like you closer to me.
Brent if I were close to you I'd just keep a cot in the shop. Lol
You handled the mishap like a champ! Like you said it's a good thing it was close to home and just idling along. My Boxer Zuki watches your videos with me which is pretty awesome.
I have been watching oak swamp for over a year awesome stuff
See that's true Brent's spirit always looking at the positive side of thing's 👍🏽
Brent, you cannot rush protection and never scrimp on quality. I realise you already know this. I don't mind seeing the steps it takes to get your idea from your mind, to reality..
Esther, it is ALWAYS GREAT to see you in these videos!! Buddy & Pablo as the shop manager/ assistant shop manager and treat inspectors!!
Glad Ryder is in on the action too and getting into the world of building rides!!!!
Looking good Brent! Just take your time and work on it when your ready. It will get done soon enough. I have a 1973 Plymouth Cuda. I pulled the engine and rebuilding it and repainting it. I thought it would take a month but 5 months later with interruptions, bathroom remodel, truck repairs and helping family and friends it just gets pushed out. "I love this channel"
thanks for the sticker at the 2024 BTTF car show in Minnesota. I wish I had gotten to talk to and look at the General.
You mentioned how some people think your project is dragging. Well I for one think you are flying with it! I've been working on a project for several years now and you get more done in an evening than I do in a month! Keep up the great work, love your videos.
Brent, it really doesn't matter about those who criticised the project or any you do, most of us are here to see your creativity and what your mind gets up to you have done a fantastic job on the 49er (it needs a good name something like
"ghost of 49" on maybe Brenster, it needs something with classic elegance to it you should be extremely proud of your achievements on this Brent well done mate
Tony from Western Australia 🇦🇺
Love sanding body work its therapeutic you just shut your mind off to everything around you, plus your getting close to putting the paint down.😊
I enjoy everything you share with us. A high point in my day. Given your humility, I am not surprised you shared with us the lug nut goofup.
I love the body lines on your little project, and I think the extra work will pay off in the end. To see it outside and driving around was cool until the tire.
Keep on trucking ,Brent...the Jimmy is looking sweet! Outside in the sunshine it's beautiful 😎👍
I appreciate the perseverance, Brent. You’ve got a lot of beautiful stuff, take the time to put some gems in your portfolio
Great video !!!
That’s what friends are for !!!
Having ,Karl “ The perfectionist” help work on a Half Ass Custom ,is an extra bonus !!! ❤👍😁😎
Good job Brent !!!👌
Glad you had minimal damage! Can’t say I haven’t done stuff like that 👍🏻🇺🇸
Cars can be replaced. There's only one of you Brent and we like you just the way you are. Please be careful.
I like that you’re doing a great job !!! Take the time to do it your way!!
Oak swamp is great been watching it for 6 months or so he does some really neat things that little car's for sale.
Great to see it moving under it's own power. Patience always pays off.
Well it might take a long time but it's you that's going to have a cool looking GMC. Like no other.
That was a bummer. But no one got hurt, and stuff happens to all of us! Hey Pablo😊
I rarely am critical of the you tubers i watch all the “experts” as one guy I watch calls them love being critical and probably they don’t create anything, you do you and I love this project and how it is going.thanks John from Arizona hey to Pablo
Brother that is bada$$ .well worth the wait. Keep being you and people will keep coming back.
I'd be laughing too. People forget way too quickly what you just went through with the fire and everything. You have to laugh - the alternative ain't fun. Cheers to a great guy with a phenomenal attitude!
Brent. Looking and sounding great. Until the catastrophie
Look it's your baby you can fix it. Love your constant enthusiasm.👍
The truck is looking sweet, and Pablo certainly enjoyed the ride!
WINNING!
Brilliant.
Keep on keeping on Good Sir!!!
You need to finish it properly Brent youve worked so hard to get it this far it's a cool build
Bummer on the fender but I love your positive attitude. Thanks again for sharing your work with us!
Sanding sucks but is it very therapeutic. The finished product is the big win. Love you guys and ty.
If you can't laugh at yourself once in awhile, you'll go mad. At the very least, you had an adventure and you have a new story to tell. Your positive attitude is very contagious!
I just love the trick truck. I'm not impatient, I just want it done and in my driveway.
MAN !! Great look !! I love the lines. When you were doing all that on the side I wasn't sure I liked it but WOW ... really looking good. Too bad you just increased the workload on it. As for the exhaust ... I like the idea of going out the back. I agree that the line is too good to mess up. Very nicely done. Congratulations. Also, I have to comment on leaving in the catastrophe. Most would have cut that out. It takes a big man to allow that boo boo in the vid.
That's fixable. Whoops. Thank God you weren't going fast. Thanks for the video Brent
Never get bored mate, I’m just enjoying watching you create stuff…keep it up.
I am always amazed at how easy going you are and able to take things in stride that would set other people off!
You take as long as you want on your projects. IM INTERESTED.It takes time. Your time. Great job. Love that look
Very cool indeed.
The bonnet needs pancaking now.
Well done, Cobber.
Luckily you know a guy with a cool garage and a ton of tools to fix it.😉
Yep oak swamp has cool music. He really uses old parts for his creations
Loose lug nuts.....who woulda thunk!! The lift is clean now though and you have more of your favourite thing to do!! In all seriousness, it's fortunate it happened when and where it happened. Nobody was hurt, that's the most important thing. Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well.
Did the same thing about 50 years ago when my buddy and I were anxious to try out new motor in his 57 Nomad. You know, I’ve never left the shop since without checking lug nuts…. Love your videos! 57:40
Brent the ones that complain of how long it take most likely have never done it ! Great job on all your. Projects
You always look on the Bright side! God bless you!
Was awesome Karl and Elio talked you into a sanding party. And Ryder shows up as an assist! Good stuff all around. Nobody is a fan of all that sanding.
Lets not forget Esther for her support and feeding everyone!
The Studebaker fought me at every turn, or maybe just too many oversights on my part. Still didnt hate it though. Need a break from it though.
Its not like cutting out a floor pan and welding in a new one, like you know who😂
Looks awesome parked outside!
Pablo is trying to tell you its too loud…
We just discussing the drone and yo mentioned it.
And the wheel nuts in question,i wondered about them wheel nuts…
Stuff happens. Better now than later
Don't worry about what other people say if it takes to long to do a project that is what makes old cars and trucks look good
That might look like it sucks but you're like me - better now that when the car is done! I mean, isn't that the purpose of the test drive? Happy doing.
It’s always surprising to see how hard everybody works when the Boss is watching (in the chair).😂
And a good thing you weren’t doing a burnout later in the vid 😢
convertible truck is going to be really cool when it's done
Laugh rather than cry! Still great progress and looking KICKASS!
Surelly a good episode with a suden spooky ending! Congratulations
earlier in the video, I spotted those lug nuts, I told you to change them.......But I guess you didn't hear me. I had it happen to me too, right in front of a yard full of people..... Live and learn, I'm glad the damage was minor. Thanks for the show, Take care
Good video Brent Karl and Eilo Hunter good job on the A Sanding
Would love to see you and Carl build a car together start to finish
Even just Jim Hammond's music is worth the trip to Oakswamp!
My Saturday evening entertainment in a couple of fav youtubers. Stay positive on the roadster, you'll get there and be having fun at a show by fall. I think everyone agrees you can't cut that side panel step for exhaust. Thanks for bringin us along, catch ya on the next one...later!!
You have some good friends 👍👍
I like that one by the police “ don’t sand , don’t sand , don’t sand so close to me “ lol 👍😁😎👌
For a truck that you weren’t sure you were ever going to do anything with , she’s sure looking pretty sick !!!👌😁👍😎
Looks so good! Good job going easy on the first shakedown cruise. 🤘
Well if there is an added benefit to doing these projects, it teaches both patience and perseverance.
Thanks for bringing us along for the ride!
that is one cool truck! gotta feel good getting to drive it.
