Predictions for tomorrow, please......🍿
3 tie-breaker sets
Novak in 2
Alcaraz in 2!
Just want a good fair match. No 'toilet breaks' to kill momentum!!
Alcaras in 2 sets
The laughter after crazy points (even though he lost a few of them) pretty much tells the difference between Alcaraz and others. He's a kid playing a game. I hope he remains that way.
It makes him really likable. You can see he loves tennis even more than he loves winning. Many other players always have those sour faces and never a joyful moment during a match. It is what many of them learn these days from their coaches: never acknowledge a good point, destroy your opponent mentally. It is why you see them often turn around immediately after a crazy point. Immediate focus and not look at your opponent.
Yesterday when he missed all those break points Ferrero was laughing at him and Carlos smiled back. You really dont see that kind of interaction between any other player and coach. Ferrero is like his second dad.
...and while being down a set, the passion is palpable.
Djokovic and Alcaraz will face each other in 3rd consecutive tournament (when they both played) and at 3 different surfaces. (Clay, Grass and Hard)
Novak takes the cherry cake now😂

This time Nole is going to win in 3 sets.
The amount of tight matches Carlos wins is insane. Even when he's not at his best, he's so hard to beat. Amazing!
You would think he does it on purpose to toughen his mental game. He is wasting a lot of energy that way though. Djoko will be fresher today.
@@Funkytrip73That's my opinion also. It is impossible to switch to God mode instantly, after playing bad, several matches in a row, if you don't do that on purpose to test your mentality. Novak does it sometimes, but Alcaraz was reeealy gambling these days.
Alcaraz is playing at his best and he's not so hard to beat. The match point saved is a big mistake of Hurkacz

Yes, I think Alcaraz will win in straights- as he's more prepared this time.@@Deantom90

@@Deantom90same way when Federer was 36-37 , people mocked him that he is losing to djokovic , if that's true then age doesn't matter right?
When you see Djokovic gesturing towards his box it just reminds us how important it is to have a team supporting you in the stands. Even champions need them.
I hardly saw Serena Williams or Nadal gestering to their Boxes.
@@jeffreykaufmann2867 Nadal's fist pumps were always to his box.
Federer never showed any emotion either towards his box or himself.
@@jeffreykaufmann2867As a fan of Serena I can def say when she was tight or in distress and couldn't get out of her mind she did gesture to them. After pregnancy she just looked lost in her big matches. But did it work for her?
@@blistering2900Federer is Swiss. They hardly show any emotions at all :)
Interesting that both finalists have gotten what they need: Alcaraz with four tight three-setters to focus his mental game (the kind of wins we normally expect from Djokovic), and Nole with four easy wins (including a retirement) to ensure he's extremely fresh. Although today was another example of Novak just raising his game to where it needs to be to win. Zverev got that break, and suddenly Novak is playing just well enough to break back and close out.
Djokovid is a bad racket's breaker. Only.

Now is definitely generation overlapping timing. Current legend and new legend are taking over the initiative back and forth. What a year.
Alcaraz is actually the best player in the world, but far away from the status legend... We dont know if he will win over 20 slams in his entire career, or if he will be able to play at an age of 36+ years...
@@Deantom90If he will win 20 slams is indeed a question, but at this point it's pretty safe to say that he will end up being an all time great (win 4+ slams) and at least one of the best of this generation. (unless something extraordinary happens)
There is also the possibility that he will end up winning more slams than Djokovic, but that is still far away.

Zverev's forehand doesn't have any sting. Just sits up in the middle of the court for anyone to pounce on. And matching Djokovic's mental strength is impossible. Alcaraz is the only one who comes close.
The weak forehand is also a mental issue. He’s capable of hitting good aggressive forehands, but just doesn’t feel confident hitting them when the match gets tight
I agree@@dfsfklsj
Everyone's "mental strength" is the same, you halfwits. You people buy whatever pop culture dunceness says and you push it, like a new drug for a new drug dealer to push.
Everyone's except with those who have mental conditions (Depression, Anxiety, etc).

No sting is such a nonsense comment, but its true that his forehand has to improve
Go Novak!!! Hurkacz seem like a nice guy but he is the choker of the week.
Totally agree on Hurkacz. He choked on match point. The way the point opened and was constructed it was right there for the taking. He tightened up and missed what is suppose to be a routine forehand. Alcaraz was out of position and would have never gotten to it. But he missed, and Alcaraz wasn't going to give Hubert a second chance after that.
Nole, at his age, still able to win the top guys this way, respect!

Alcaraz what a player ! Zverev is back too !!!
Awesome match & win. Somewhere buried amongst the loud criticism of his dip in form during his NA tour is the fact that Carlitos' just came off a 1/4 final in Toronto and is going for a sweep of the 4 major tournaments in the US in tomorrow's final - at the ripe old age of 20 he is also undefeated in Master's finals @4-0.
And yes, obviously some of the criticism is warranted, his timing & ball-striking have been off compared to peak Alcaraz at Wimby, FO, IW & Madrid - but not even the B3 could excel at each & every tourney/match. What made them big was their consistency - which is directly related to learning how to win when your best tennis is not there & your opponent's is. There's currently no more consistent player on tour than the 53-5 Alcaraz.
There's also a visible growth in this version of Carlos as opposed to the one newly crowned #1 at last year's USO. He said himself that it all happened so fast it took him off guard mentally - just couldn't win the close ones after that. Injuries led to a prolonged off season which in turn gave JCF & Co plenty of time to work with him in all aspects of the game - he has his own sports psychiatrist on call. Result? Alcaraz's stellar 2023 run where he's at least reached the semifinals in 10 of the 12 tournaments he's played in.
It's plain as day that he now enjoys being number 1 and will battle hard to keep it/regain it. And number one he will be at the US Open one year after initially earning it. Kid's simply a legend in the making. Will he add to it tomorrow against Novak? Millions will be glued to their sets to find out. Because win or lose Carlitos never fails to entertain.

What's the point if he continues to choke on match points like he just did against Alcaraz, though.
Maestría por los dos. Deportividad y elegancia. Genial.

It's hard to guess, I mean I always support Alcaraz, but Novak is playing an amazing tennis, awesome
It will depend on Alcaraz's serve. He got broken in first sets a lot, and then always improved the serve. He will have to do well from set one. If he does, he will likely take the win. He has had 3 weeks shorter preparation compared to other players (because of stupid Hopman Cup) so he usually goes crescendo during a match.
@Pure u can also say that first game 15/40 had effect on Carlos if Carlos holds early on it would been different story

And now...on to the Joker-Carlito rematch!!!
Zowie! Mark of a champion here. Just like Nadal you can't count him out no matter how far down he is. 1 set to love, match point against, not to worry.
Legend Carlos
What we have seen in Alcaraz in the last two weeks is his Nadal side from his hybrid nature, vulnerable but still able to come back from a bad situation and win the matches not playing his best tennis. In Madrid, Paris and London I was pretty sure he was going to beat Djokovic (the cramping in Paris definetively helped Djokovic), but now I must say I see him in slight disadventage. He needs to recover his agressive and creative playing, top serve and less UE if he wants to beat the Serbian.
Alcaraz loves to play entertaining tennis, also for the fans. Against Djokovic he has to bring the UE down considerably, otherwise he will lose in 2 sets.

He's 53-5 for the year bozo . And he's only 20. Can't get more consistent than that
@D 53-5 6 titles been in 10 semis 8 finals in 12 tournaments and that’s not consistent if that’s not consistent idk what u want from the dude
@@colethomas903Ignore him he's a hater
Carlos and Novak are neck in the stats ahead of the final - but Carlos is on the rise:

Carlos has improved his 1st and 2nd serve efficiency, no ugly double faults today (he had 8 yesterday), fewer unforced errors, really beautiful agressive game in sets 2 and 3. The key to watch out for will be break point conversion against Novak. Carlos faced some strong servers the last 2 rounds (which made it hard to get a good conversion rate), so this will be an important metric. And then his serve will need to function as good as it did today. If Carlos defends his serve well (and that's a big if), his return quality and agressive game should make the difference. Novak will have to play very agressive and keep a high percentage of 1st balls to win the rallies.
Lol the winners/unforced errors are wrong sorry to tell u
@@marcotita9204 No, those are the official ATP ones which don't count aces and double faults and use a more strict definition of unforced errors. That's why I show those statistics separately. Tennis TV use the rules applied for the women's game but it is not correct for ATP.
Are there stats on Average pace of shot, and distance ran ratios vs Opponent?
Trying to paint a picture of shot placement... From what I see Novak has more consistent pace, hits shots much flatter, and placement is better. On fast courts, placement matters more than anything. I know Carlos won Wimby but he seems to be struggling on this surface.
@@pureffm even adding the aces and double faults the results are very different. For instance djokovic had 29 unforced errors, and only hit 3 double faults. The stats you are using are misleading and I also see them in flashscore or the atp website. But there are different than the ones you see live after the match finishes
@@orrissonpereira1070 Winners to unforced errors is a measure of shot placement (out of reach of opponents but inside the court). Carlos is not struggling anymore. It took him a bit more time because other players had 3 more weeks to adapt to hard courts (Carlos played the Hopman cup exhibition tournament on clay and then took 1 week off, so his form will peak a bit later than other players, probably first week of the US open). Distance I think is only measured during GS. But watching the match Carlos had excellent shot placement, he played amazing rallies including down the line shots on both sides. Novak was more conservative with his placement, when he tried to go wide he has a few more unforced errors relatively speaking and fewer winners (but then Sascha is a great mover).
The thing is you can replace playing close to the lines with faster shots, on average Carlos shots are 3kmh faster than Novak's on both sides, especially his peak speed is quite a bit higher.
First the big 3, now the big 2
hurkacz playing really well, wow.
