    Man I am so sad for Greg Park, I would love to meet him one day to thank him for everything. I would love to contact him one day to pay him or hepl him in some way, his videos did alot for me. His skill doesn't lie, his hands are obviously jacked from life, his acrobatics are tuned, everything he says is genuine. His haters really suck and probably couldn't do a push up without damn near dying. I hope he comes back🙏🙏🙏

      I was a student of Greg 14 years ago when i was 8. I remember him being a very cool guy. He taught me Hapkido and how to use a sword. Which have actually worked for me in every street fight ive been in. I can say that his hapkido skills and sword skills are real.
      But.....
      Theyre was always something off about his class. First timers had harsh training, black belts can be BOUGHT (Yes! He lets you buy a black belt. Very weird), and most of time we just watched him do cool stuff. While i do think he is a legit fighter, I think he failed to create his own martial arts and would teach us some wierd things. He isnt 100% real. He has even been called out by the Japanese community for teaching the wrong stuff in nutrition.

And this year, I've subscribed to both even though I knew of you two for years, and even had your books but haven't read them until now. You know I dedicated 18 years to modern martial arts including bjj, wrestling, shoot fighting, Muay Thai, boxing, kickboxing, and knife fighting. I retired 10 years ago to focus on my family. But one regret is never mastering ninjitsu. I struggle to believe in the hand to hand combat being effective, but the child within desperately wants to be a ninja 🥷
    I'd love to put my 18 years of knowledge into a ninja style and bring it into modern time's.

    When you confront someone head on or tell them the way it has to be their wall goes up. It's basic psychology and ninjitsu. I own five of your books and respect you greatly and everything you have done for ninjitsu. I think the biggest problem is no one wants to be criticized on something they feel so strongly about. Everyone is following their passion in their own way which I think is great for ninjitsu it expands it in new ways and helps it to flourish. Looking at it from the other side, I am sure they are thinking why bother with you tube and everyone's criticism and opinion. I think the only way you will ever make it work with them or anyone else is to relax your standards about what ninjitsu is and not state your opinion as fact. Once again I respect you greatly and I mean no disrespect.

    I would love to have the Ninjutsu community come back and train again to share truth and reject the fantasy of popular “Hollywood” ninja ideas. So far I like the work you have been doing with extracting truth about Shinobi and the role in history they held. In my younger days I trained with Jim Rosenbach and Robert Bussey. At the time when I started my training I was 9 and had no idea of the history of my instructors in Nebraska. I was training to learn self-defense and to build confidence. As time when on I saw photos of Bussey with Hatsumi and Toshiro Nagato along with others in Japan training before it was Bujinkan. Once I learned about Ninjutsu and the impact it had on RBWI/RWTB it’s all I thought about. I wanted to be a ninja! Fast forward to 2011 and after I got out of the Air Force I had the chance to learn Ninjutsu from Rosenbach and we trained in what I assume is the same curriculum as Bussey learned from Nagato and Hatsumi. After all the training I got my Shodan under Rosenbach.....which in the eyes of the Bujinkan it doesn’t hold any weight, I finally reached my life goal.
    During that time I learned why Bussey essentially broke away from Hatsumi and rejected many of the ideas that were held in such high esteem. Bussey of course gets a lot of flak from many people in the martial art community especially from the Bujinkan. He did it for the same reason I started my martial arts career, for the purpose of applying fighting arts to a modern time. Throwing out out dated tactics and mystical ideas and keeping what works. It didn’t matter if it was Ninjitsu, Hapkido, or Tae Kwon Do. This is was how RBWI was formed....a blend of various arts to accomplish the goal of personal protection that was effective.
    All in all, I still would love to train in Ninjutsu and leave out the fantasy. I wish Bussey would make a return but he has also taken a step back and lives a quiet life. Perhaps one day we can all come together again.

    @BosunM8James Před 3 lety +2

    I guess I'm very late to the conversation since this video is 4 years old. Still, I think the issues discussed in this video deals with validity. Pop culture really created what we think of when someone says the word ninja. Pop culture also created the craze that made these schools who claim to be authentic and historical ninja. I love your work and devotion to show the world what the shinobi, the historical shinobi, truly was. So bringing these historical documents to light for the average person to gain access to has ruined the ninja dojo as most know it today. Rather than running into the shadows, ironically, I think this is an opportunity to rebrand their dojos into modern arts of combat. I think Stephen Hayes was on to this when he branded his school as the quest center and renamed his art, so on the surface, it seems detached from the ninja branding. This is a great opportunity for others like Christa Jacobson to do the same. Disregard lineage and rebrand as something genuinely their own. We can still enjoy the stoic mysticism of the pop culture ninjas while embracing the historical evidence of the shinobi no mono. Martial arts of any kind was never meant to be packaged away as just forms and arguments of linage. It was meant to be a living thing that endured and adapted in our life as time went on. Karate, as I have always known it to be, was designed to adapt to the martial artist; not the other way around. In that way, through training, karate becomes a part of you. All martial arts should incorporate this philosophy for training; whether modern or traditional.

    I think too many people judge the bujinkan too quickly. I think it would be a great place to start, and it is accessible to pretty much all people, great place to learn the basics, which are the called that for a reason, and you will literally do them and practice them for the rest of your life, hopefully. I think for the few, true, students will take this or any basic course and turn it into an actual art, lifestyle. It will make them want to train. Like taekwondo and karate are available in pretty much every town. But only a few will take it and make it something. I think if it's the art/course/ passion for you, you will make it what it needs to be for you

    Wasn't even aware of some kind of "golden age" in 2012/2013. I bought "true path of the ninja" back in 2010. My grandmother was Japanese and lived there until she married my grandfather who was in the air force. I was also born in Japan but that was because my dad was in the navy so I've always looked at life with a bias towards the Japanese way. I only lived there until I was 3 though. I kind of use historical ninja works like you do as a boy scouts manual with the benefit of also giving philosophical lessons. I use what I learn from your translated manuals and integrate them where ever possible into self defense lessons. I refer to learning how to fight with a gun, knives and all those things as "modern martial arts". In all honesty if you want to learn "modern ninjutsu" there are resources out there. So that part is true. They also did,but not often....perform assassinations. The part that seems to be mostly made up is their h2h ability. However, as I got older still, oddly enough, I began migrating back to the samurai themselves. Namely as per my own ignorance, there's a LOT of information and tradition to be found there. Especially like you said, the strategy. As well as the history found in books that weren't around as I was growing up. So it's kind of like going from the SEALs to the officers and shoot me if one will, but now that I'm older, that just kind of seems a little more interesting. Not to say that I'm anti shinobi... I'll definitely take information and lessons from that side of things as well, but the samurai themselves just have a hold on my heart, so to speak.

    If Anthony Cummins succeeds in making ninjas more respected and popular among other martial arts he should be celebrated and honoured as a modern pioneer of Budo, Bujutsu or whatever the correct term may be. There should be more unity in the martial arts society in general. Rivalry, competition and mockery is regrettably more the rule than the exception. Is for example not OK to call oneself a Christian and then love cagefighting because it´s animalistic, dirty, rotten and totally out of control. That´s hypocrisy. Greg Park despite of all what people say about him refused to have anything to do with Kujikiri because of his Christian belief. That´s being truthful and honest. I hope people will cultivate more of this instead of cultivating a dirty and nasty attitude towards martial arts. Sometimes it´s like the martial artists have become worse than the bullies they feared before they started practising martial arts.

    I find it all fascinating from the historical to the fiction (80's Ninja's and Cyberpunk settings even). Then again, I love the straight sword that is synonymous now with the Ninja just as much as the curved sword... The whole straight vs curved thing is utter crap. It's all like a bit of a legend. We are introduced to the Ninja through the black outfit and Ninja-to and then digging deeper, you find where the reality was and how the "somewhat" heroic fantasy version came to be. There is no wrong or right in it... it's all good!!! I can be reading Antony's book and enjoying it and then throw on a Sho Kosugi movie and keep enjoying it. I think the people that lose the enjoyment of it are the ones that are constantly pushing for only one side of the history to ever be highlighted, whether that is the historical or the fantasy.
    I'm all for bringing Ninjas back to the forefront and using fantasy to highlight historical. Let's just enjoy everything about it!!!

There are rumors that he passed away, possibly a few years ago, but I cannot find anything to confirm it. i can tell you this when i was a kid in the 80s i loved ninja s ,sho kosugi movies were my fav but i would watch anything with a ninja in it,then i kinda lost interest a little because the movies got real bad and went away and the ninja craze was over,i still liked ninjas but i was no longer obsessed with them.
    then cut to a few years ago i saw choson on youtube and at first i thought he was pretty cool and seemed to know his stuff but i found the more i watched him the more crazy he seemed so i started looking up some of the things he was saying and found a lot of things wrong and i also started to watch his haters vids because he kept talking about haters al the time so i figured i would get both sides of the story
    thats when i found dean and juzo and then later antony and for awhile i couldn't get enough of the ninja drama ,it was fun to watch but i also wanted som more ninja info so i bought 3 of antony's books (i love them btw) and i learned a lot about ninjas but at the same time i found the more i learned the less interest i had in them because a lot of the cool myths were shattered when the truth came out and it kinds ruined ninjas for me a little
    when the ninja drama died down and my interest dried up a bit i moved on to other interests and only looked at ninja stuff once in a while,i think a lot of people just lost interest in ninjas and now everyones watching the big youtube drama going on lately with all the big youtube channels superheros have got more popular as well and ninjas are fading away again but i think ninjas will be back again in the future cause they never stay gone forever and we will see another ninja boom

      I used to watch Chosun ninja, too. Years ago. I remember him mentioning things about his haters many times but I always assumed they were trolls in the comment section. Back then I didn't know about all the ninja drama going on. Years later I learned about Antony Cummins.

    Here is the problem that Antony followers fail to realize that is that Antony research while impressive is only half the truth. He is looking at everything through those documents he can get his hands on. What is contained in documents that were destroyed or that are in private collections may provide validity to the things Antony disputes. Much of the martial arts can be applied to the samurai and therefore the ninja. one example is the straight sword. There is numerous documentaries on the fact that the Samurai took the straight sword, which they found difficult to draw while and horseback, and curved it to make it easier to wield. Breathing techniques found in many martials arts have been traced way back to feudal times. Now please don't get me wrong...But just as Antony tells martial artist to let go of the word Ninja, he needs to let go of the word Truth. Regardless of which path you take, both sides have a bit of truth to them and a bit of assumptions.

He doesn´t react hatefully himself but let people know that he can also be a bit sarcastic if he wants too. Instead he reacts with intelligence, humour and love. People are tired of all the antfuckery over small and logical things that shouldn´t cause endless and exhausting debates that one looses interest in because they´re silly and doesn´t bring us any new perspective or wisdom at all. They don´t even bring us closer as a brotherhood or society, which I´ve had a secret dream about for long. The most worrying thing is that one should expect practitioners to develop, grow and mature together. Instead a lot of childish and egoistical crusades over irrelevant things arises. One get to think that it´s like Kindergarten again where everyone propagates for their own sake and things all the time. It´s like shouting and yelling about their own amazingness and degrading others all the time has become the order of the day. People should find together and build strong bands and friendships which is a much more beautiful thing than all the trashtalking and warmongering.

      @LittleImpaler Před 8 lety +4

      +432fuuzz A lot of Christians do not know the history of Christianity. Real Christianity is really no different from Judaism. It took 1,000 years for Christianity to establish itself as a religion. The religion has been hijacked by foreigners like the Romans, Greeks, taken out it's original culture content and place in another, has been rewitten numerous times. The King James Bible, is not the real Bible. The real Christian Bible is one written in Aramaic. Christianity and Islam are really different secs of Judaism.

    • @Metal2Bach
      @Metal2Bach Před 8 lety

      +LittleImpaler There are also a lot of Christians that love learning Christian history and know it well. Early Christian history doesn't in any way invalidate the faith. Not sure if that's what you're implying, but it sort of seemed like it. Of course Christianity grew out of Judaism, but Jews today do not, and never have, believed Jesus of Nazareth is the messiah prophesied in the Old Testament. I completely agree about the KJV Bible being frankly a sloppy translation - I wish people would learn Aramaic and Greek, study the earliest documents, and then talk about what the best translation is.

    • @LittleImpaler
      @LittleImpaler Před 8 lety

      Darker Instincts Even the early Greek translations are messed up. Because they took a cult that started in the Middle East, that was written with an anicent Middle Eastern mindset, and changed the manuscripts to fit their culture and mindset. A lot Christians don't really follow Christianity. Christians take the word messiah to mean something special. When in reality there were many messiahs, Messiah is just a person in Abrahamic religions. Jesus is just a person. Jews keep telling Christians that, but a lot Christians don't understand that, or don't want to hear it. In real bible there's no heaven or hell in real Christianity. That heaven in real Christianity is no different from the Jews view of heaven. That heaven is what you make of your life on Earth.
      Christians aren't supposed to eat pork. Christians men aren't suppose to cut their hair. And Christian women are supposed to cover their hair like the Muslims. This list could go on and on.
      The only people that really understand Christianity are the Jews.
      Jeues knew he was the lamb of God. You tell Christians that, they get mad. Christianity in the West isn't really Christianity.

    • @LittleImpaler
      @LittleImpaler Před 8 lety

      +432fuuzz I am going to correct you. First off there is no evidence that Vlad Tepse was religious or not. The new Testament has NOTHING to do with Christianity in the first place. The Testament is a creation of foreigners taking over the religion and turning it into something it was not. Christianity it's is purest form is no different from Islam and Judaism. Real Christianity has the same laws as Judaism and Islam. Even Jeues said " Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
      Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them."
      But far too many Christians skip that part and go off and do their own thing. If the real Bible ever replace the King James Version. A lot Christians would be very upset that they have be a Jew. Christians don't follow real Christianity.
      There was a reason why in the medieval times the priest called the Jews the Old Christians. Because they knew even back then a Christian was really a Jew. Christianity today, really has nothing to do with Jeues, because many Christians don't even follow what Jeues said or did.
      For someone who doesn't really follow Christianity. You sure are really upset about what I have to say about it. Which you have just proven my point why some people get upset at Ant, and don't want to work with him, because they get their emotions tied into it just like you did.

    I think it was really "sexy" or the "cool" thing to watch when you were literally calling out people for lying and/or unknowingly teaching false information. To tell you the truth, I heard that ninja wasn't a martial art a long time ago as a kid BUT the idea that Ninjutsu was a hand to hand martial art, like I've seen in the movies (which was really Gung Fu or TKD/Karate, with sword fencing), was much more enticing to believe.
    that being said I REALLY appreciate you setting out to find the TRUTH Antony!
    It could also be because like you've said before people could be SO set in their ways they are somehow shamed, and prefer to be in an area where they aren't criticized for teaching what they believe, even though it's not correct.
    I'm really interested in your teachings and discoveries in Ninjutsu. I however have my own Martial arts journey I'm working on. I spend a lot of time into practice (blk TKD while working on my BJJ BLK belt, while getting familiar with Muay thai and MMA) so I only have time to read some of your books or watch your videos and try to learn that way. I wouldn't know how to give back to the Ninjutsu community. The Ninja however is my BIG reason for getting into martial arts! I'm interested in learning!
    CZcamsrs recently have been doing their own movie like videos...you could gain new followers doing a documentary you've done yourself. ( that way the info is correct)
    I'm enjoying the Ninja Training series you're doing and the videos of Japan you do!
