Tony Parker - Phenomenal Footwork

- Tony Parker is a master of the jumping off the wrong foot in order to beat a shot blocker to the rim. By jumping off the right foot for a righty finish, the defender can’t chop his steps or measure the shot. He can jump off of either foot, and finish with either hand. Tony can jab dribble all day, and use a two footed gather to get his patented teardrop over ANY defender. He’s got a myriad of post moves, pump fakes, reverse pivots, step-throughs.
Four NBA championships. One Finals MVP. One FIBA Eurobasket MVP. Six All Star appearances Tony Parker has accomplished just about everything that can be done, and yet, somehow, he’s still underrated. Sure, he’s lost a step or two, but at the age of 33, is that really surprising? While Tony doesn’t have the athleticism of a Rose or Westbrook, or the handles of a Kyrie or Steph, he can absolutely still finish with the best of them. That is in no small part thanks to his mastery of moves, and his fundamentally fantastic footwork. Pay attention to his gather, how quickly he plants his feet to elevate. Take note of which leg he jumps off, on which side of the floor, with which hand he uses to finish. I can tell you that if you pay attention to the little things, like Parker does, your game will be all the better for it.

One of the most underrated point guards ever. People forgot how good he was in his prime.
+Curtis Brown Especially that damn spin move. Von Miller must have learned it from him.
crtsbrown 10 true day
he looked pretty good when he had Derick fisher guarding him. lol that really cemented his legacy. but i think hes a little overrated actually. the last ten years he thinks he always has derrick fisher guarding him and instead of finding more exploitable options on the court he tries to be a hero. still a beast but ...so is every point guard in the leauge these days.
He shredded Memphis, one of the best defensive teams at that time in the conf finals 2013 if you have a doubt... (a lot more examples but that one speaks louder!)
The art of competition This is honestly the dumbest and most ignorant comment ever posted in an online forum.
Most underrated point guard of this era.
His step throughs, floaters, reverse pivots and spins are absolutely lethal
He invented the floater
can’t guard those floaters
One of the most accomplished PG's of all time....
Arguably a top ten point guards of all time. People really slept on TP and it’s a shame.
his handles are so unflashy but very effective, almost gets to the rim at will
That is the most backhanded compliment I have seen all day
he doesn't need good handles. he has great movement and body control
Extremely underrated player. No Parker = no chips.
The tiny fundamentals
Tony 'TP9' Parker. One of the best PG to ever do it. That spin move is classic, all day.
That crossover spin move deadly af. Tried it in a game and definitely works especially fastbreak no matter how many people are under the net.
Oh my.... tony`s spin move is art
I loved Tony's 2011-2014 stretch of his career. So great at getting to the basket and great at finishing with an arsenal of shots. Could spin it off the glass, finger roll, or use his patented tear drop floater. Not to mention in those years he was among the league leaders in points in the paint as a 6'2 point guard
So underrated and unappreciated.. People underestimate Parker’s ability to penetrate and create plays.. Truly a championship caliber PG.. 100% SPURS!!
GREAT upload my friend. I feel like Tony is a little bit under appreciated, I'm pretty sure that these kids today don't known much about this hall of famer, sad. This is the pg that has been killing it in playoff time for more than a decade, finals mvp. Absolute champ. His footwork is so smooth and unique, you don't see lot of guards finishing in the paint like that. Such a smart player. Think we won't see this kind of talent again for quite some time, it's really uncommon. Pivots, spin moves, hesitation moves, scoops and of course a tremendously quickness and a killer floater! Thanks again!!
Nano Alfonso well said!
tp abusing the hell out of that spin move
he is underrated! in his prime nobody can guard him
One of the best (if not the best) spin moves and finisher of all time. I'm a die hard Spurs fan and the Big 3 have all been underrated throughout their careers. That probably has something to do with the fact that they play such a team oriented game and with each other, but they are definite certain HoF with their own unique skill sets. Can you do one on Manu as well? His passes, Euro-step, and overall smarts and creativity is amazing.
a very unique player.....
great clip. as you guys see this, tony was the player who score 2nd in specific season in paint zone (1st was shaq when he was young and strong). also tony's plays are illusive, fast, precise even with this full speed movement.
Speed + Footwork + Insane Skills + High basketball IQ
I love his game. Reminds me of Kobe because he's got the footwork, spins, soft touch, step throughs. He relies on skill and iq, he's very small and not very fast. Beautiful!
THE LEGENDARY TONY PARKER!!! Incredible FOOTWORK!!!!
This is how a HOF point guard looks like.
8:30 What an amazing pass !!!
Of all the PGs through out the history, he's the best finisher near the rim, period.
All the other good finisher PGs may match his speed and quickness, but Tony's special. He can do post moves while maintaining fast speed, that's nightmare for defenders.
Correct, only ones that were better were Magic and AI, both freaks of nature of course.
From any other PG his size, no doubt. Best finisher at the rim
jermaineonealnumber7 Ai was not a great finisher.
Jake Lewson what about Nash?
I could watch his highlights all day. Beautiful footwork.
2018 and the Spurs' Era is over. How I miss the day when Tony Parker carry his team to the playoff each year til he won his last championship as a Spurs.
Fundamentals man it's crazy
I love these highlight reels. Find exactly the kind of basketball plays from the players I like. Cool channel.
Thanks for this, I think I asked for it a while back. Or at least I remember asking. Anyways, thanks.
Underrated greatness
And under appreciated
This dude can ball
Was a pure joy to watch.
Like pop said, his "system" hits the stats of his stars but make no mistake, parker as 19 year old rookie was a starter for a championship team and making damage in the playoffs, for 15 years , that's what I call talent , Imo the greatest pg finisher of his time, look about his fg%, fg% made in the paint for years only dwade was his competition (only 2 guards that where as efficient as a big man, but d wade as sg).the Big 3 of the spurs are gonna end underappreciated and underrated, mostly because, fanstats. But well 4 rings, and a lot of records (+50 more wins n a row ,over %500 in the road , etc...)
You can say that Duncan, Parker and Manu all had unique skilled footwork
Tony putting all defenders in the spin cycle.
People don’t realize he would be scoring 25 a night in todays league ..
He maneuvers around tall defenders with ease, and then makes the shot.
Very skilled point guard.
King of the layup!!!!
Man, Tony Parker was dope. He never won MVP but to me he was the best point guard for many years for me. He just didn't have the big names but trust me opponents knew who he was
He did this spin move all his career, but still unguardable.
This is what the spurs need now. Somebody who can penetrate the perimeter draw defenders then either score or get an assist
one of the better TParker mixes
Bonjour paint, let me introduce myself, I'm TP9!
That last one!! I remembered how the spurs schooled GSW and Grizzlies helpless before running short in the finals. If they won, it's surely Tony's 2nd finals mvp
Tony did that spin move so much they called it circle to the square the spurs named it
Could you possibly make another video like this for tony parker? Thanks!
Tony spammin that spinmove button!
Hi Evin, could you make another lockdown video of a guard, i really don´t care who it is but i just love watching someone who defends well. (Just saw your Marcus Smart video, it´s great!!)
All of your videos are special, keep up the good work!
+Bryan Everest Thanks. I'm definitely going to keep making defense videos, so don't worry. You'll see them on here in time
+Evin Gualberto Great :)
+Evin Gualberto idol please do paul george men his phonomenal on defense
Hands up if you're tp9 on pick up.
Half of fame, one of the best foot work and he made the game look easy, no dunks and still dominated on the lay ups
Great video bro
Made a living on that spin move and floaters, miss TP
Damn that look good!
1 of the 5 most effective point guards I’ve ever seen
The most skilled point guard in league history...
Best scoring PG in the paint great all around PG
that spinaroo @ 6:45 is sensational
Able to finish , has confidence , great passer , good defender , great mid range ,good floaters
Jamaal Murray plays somewhat like parker
I never hear Parker's name in the greatest European NBA players of all time list but he absolutely should be
Drop Cross and spin move 🔥
best spin in history
textbook of spin moves
Yessir top 20 PG all time
underrated
SUGGESTION... Damian Lilliard - Killer Stepback 👍🏼
TP9 je t'aime!!!!
Tony Parker
Classic
another excellent video by Evin. Silky TP. The most entertaining below-the-rim/hardwood bound PG with Steve Nash.
master in the pain
Circle to the square. Efficient and effective.
TP9 is the Big Fundamentals of a Point Guard.
he is the best point guard
the man next to the Flash
Happy retirement Tony
IF all this happen in those days of HOUSEOFHIGHLIGHT twitter instagram ... he would have been a superstar !
I can see kawhi learned some of his finishing from him. With those pump fakes in the lane
Wall definitely did. He developed a spin move from studying Tony Parker
still missing parker on the spurs. elegance of a ballerina
Love that spin move but is it me or he's using 3 steps to do it?
My french pride!
I watched video with 0.25 speed, and rewound several times.
I would love to see him and Kyrie go 1 on 1
top 8 pg in the nba
not even top 15 this season lmfao
modern james worthy (tony parker)
why does he always dribble up with right hand?
i would get dizzy if i tried that
Crossover to the left and ends up on the right
Need the older footage
2:58 3:03
This could be similar to the roulette from Zizou JAJAJA
future gall of frame
陳柏安 Hall of famer but we understand the idea ;)
You need a ton of practice to perfect that spin move.
Murderer.... 4 championships though
He fakes after he spin, is it a travel?
Chan Xerez no. It's not. The spin takes two steps. Fakes without leaving his feet, then jumps to shoot which counts as a third step. You can take up to 3 steps w/o it being called travel.
TP9 > CP3, Stockton, Iverson & Nash 😆
32 rudy fernandez dislike this video....
More spin than a washing machine. Made me dizzy.
Ppl don’t like the spurs idkw
4:01 moves his pivot foot a lot
Players now get away with alot more =
Har en etc .
No left hand
