Hi my name is Emi. I'm born in raise in small town just outside Quebec City, this is where my lovely accent come from. My #vanlife story starts in September 2018. After a long-term relationship that I was trying for more than a year to rebuild, I decided it was time to end this toxic relationship once for all. This is where I decided to move away from this man that I was still in love with. I put all my belongings inside my SUV (GMC Jimmy) and moved six hours from where I was living. I didn’t know where I would sleep, didn’t know where I would work but I knew I needed to make a drastic move. At that time, I told myself I will only sleep in my car for a month while looking for a place to rent. What I didn’t know is that one month became another month and another month. In the end, I end up sleeping in my car for a full year. Even if people will consider this the lowers time of my life, this experience was the best thing I couldn’t have done with my life. I took that year to focus on myself, decide what I wanted, and most importantly what I didn’t want. That year made me also realize that for so long, I was chasing the wrong dreams. I was chasing what society wanted me to be: to have a big house, a steady job, kids, get married… None of those dreams was making me happy. In September 2019, while I was actively looking for a van, I received a phone call that someone had found my cat (Kelly). After, trying for hours with no success to communicate with my ex-boyfriend (who was taking care of her), I decided to drive the six hours to go pick her up. Without going into too much detail, it turns out he wasn’t able to take care of her anymore. So I brought her in a cat kennel for a couple of days until I found a van we both could live in. I put all the savings that I had accumulated while living in my car and bought my van (a 2011 Ford Econoline that I end up adding a hightop) In the beginning, It wasn’t so glamour. My cat and I were sleeping on a mattress on the floor of the van. We both had to adjust. Now, my cat loves this lifestyle as much as I do; she looks at the window while I’m driving and she loves exploring new places. Since then, my cat Kelly and I are have been living full-time in my self convert van.
Rainy days are good days to kick back and relax. Today is my little boy's birthday. I thought he was only turning 5 but the furmomma he came from says 6. Either way it's a good day for treats. Enjoy your down time.
I grew up in the country and we called that type of bath a Farmers Bath! I live in a brick and mortar house and still do that when I don’t need a complete shower. ❤

Stretch you hip flexors. We sit a lot an those hip flexors tighten up. Lunge and feel the stretch on the front hip of the back leg. This will help you back pain.

A rainy day means cleaning closets, wiping out utelsil drawers.
Maybe a day to attend to your shoes. Or, sleep all day as the rain beats down. Kitty can tell you how.
Walking (everyday) 40 minutes with or without rain is the best exercise. I don't see vanlife people walking.
I think a lot of van people have gym memberships, they work out and shower😁

@Emi you are just a sweetheart, so kind and considerate and you TRULY love your furbby . If I ever have the chance to take a yr off and travel around the country in a camper I believe I would . . It looks peaceful.
As far as your back, you may need to sleep with your legs elevated and/or a pillow under your lower back. People with a certain shape lower back and butt need to support the lower back when they sleep because it doesn’t flatten out and as a result, it spasms from the stress overnight. I’m one of those people and you are built a little like me. The whole spine requires support when sleeping, especially when back sleeping.
It’s so cool how you live a full day and do so many different things in your tiny home on wheels.

The yoga poses cat and cow is really helpful for the lower back. You can do it for one minute, three times per day. Can easily be done in the van.

We arr full time in our motorhome and at times completely off grid. These baths for us are called bird baths. 32 degrees in Arizona today so starting our trek back to Canada on wednesday

I really loved this video. I have been so bored lately and even as a full time traveler the weather has so much to do with getting projects done. I probably have as much room in my Casita as in a van and it's getting overwhelming with storage and such. Been buying cordless tools all winter to charge on solar and excited to get things more comfy/organized.

Living in a van or a house there is always something to do, in a van sometimes requires a bit of thinking but yes you are right you can do it all like exercise routine. In a minivan you can do chair like exercise, breathing techniques just as good when doing it correctly as a big workout.

My inbetween bath is 16 Oz of peppermint tea in a spritzer. Plus a washcloth. No rinse needed, leaves my skin so soft. Leftover tea washes clothes.

When I'm stuck in my S UV my favorite thing to do is to color. I buy those adult coloring books I've got about 20 of them. I love to create pictures and give to people
The problem with a rainy day and not driving is needing to recharge batteries. Otherwise, staying in is great!

I like to watch van life videos that just give the typical ‘day in the life’ of the person as you did in this video. I like to see the typical situations that one goes through; daily life, construction builds along with breakdowns, the knock on the door at 2AM, common repairs, fun and bad situations, crazy neighbors, etc. My favorite van lifer used to be Nomadic Fanatic, his original moto was: “Urban Camping, Boon docking, & Life on the Road”, and it was perfect. But then it morphed into sightseeing videos showing quirky stuff, oddities, amusement parts, etc., nothing that I was interested in and my favorite channel was now completely boring to me.
