This is not just a legendary song. This is a defining moment in our lives. This is the friends and the lovers we lost. This is the dreams we had. This is the youth that slipped our hands. This is the Pet Shop Boys and we are very lucky to have them in our life.
"All the people I was kissing, some are here and some are missing".. I was in my 20's when this masterpiece was released having fun and being surrounded by people I loved, I am 53 now and I am listening to it on a Sunday morning, with tears in my eyes for all my losses.. Parents, friends, lovers.. Some are here but most are missing..

Good comment. Well, buddy, I’m 68. I did Northern Soul and Tamla on my Lambretta SX200 in the 70’s, jazz funk in the ‘80’s, went to Cream and Gatecrasher for trance in the ‘90’s. I have tickets for James Zabeila in Liverpool this November. It could just be that you are never too old to party 😉

I always worked all my life. I live in Los Angeles and so many friends fell into the gangs. I have 2 locked up in Prison for life. One was so close to me and my family. My father even wrote a letter to the judge explaining what a great kid Ricky was. he was a great student and athlete. He was my best friend in High School and later in life joined a gang and was caught doing a drive by shooting, now locked up for life. I have always believed in God, and he showed me the right way to live. I also had a strict father who raised me up Military style. He is a Korean War Veteran and always told me stay educated and the results will be awesome as you get older. He was correct. But I have so many friends now who are either homeless or on drugs or in gangs. The one who is homeless was a great athlete and he was the quarterback in our high school. I also have 2 friends who are girls, they both overdose on drugs and died. Such a Tragedy! I am starting to tear up. May God Bless All Of You. No Colors denied here!! We are one. Amen! Amen! Amen!
Everytime, I hear this beautiful Track it reminds me of the friends I used to party with back in the day. In 2024 some are no longer on this earth. But I know they are listening in HEAVEN and still dancing. Circus Disco, a club in Hollywood where we used to go. I worked in a clothing store at the time in Downtown Los Angeles and my co-workers and I would hit the Hollywood scene after work. "Cry," perhaps, but still, in my opinion, a-this song that can make one actually THINK (not only about themselves, but also about others) is probably the more apropos term here, in a word, in a gist, and for any, and all, others who still like ingenious music that's still played, mixed, here with a whit of, say, controversy, strange parties and get togethers amongst rich people engaging in...stuff, their own proclivities, likes, dislikes.........good times, bad times, reflective times, musings...........

This song reminds me of the 80s and early days of the 90s. Can't complain. Those years were the best. I missed my high school years. No cellphones no INTERNET. Just enjoying life with my friends.👍👍
My favourite PSB song by far, melancholy, nostalgia, dreamy, sadness, reflective.. it embodies all these feelings in the lyrics and the music. I love that atmospheric keyboard sound in the verses, just fits the words so beautifully.
One of the most beautiful songs ever made. The vid is a journey through life. I've lost someone too, I know how time works with grief. This is a classic.
I'm hearing this for the first time at 39 and the tears are so cleansing. I knew the quotation was about Zelda just from "a wife of a writer in the 1920s". . . . "So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.” I thought this song was going to be about boring people heeheee, what delightful turns of phrase this song takes, and what a beautiful video by Bruce Weber.
this song always makes me confused between crying, shivering, smiling, a bit yearningly, feeling nostalgic, feeling refreshed, ... uuuuh this song fulfills me. They are genious, the boys from the petshop next door
In my opinion the best PSB track by a mile. It has a beautiful melody and powerful lyrics. While it wasn’t their biggest hit, it is one that sounds as fresh today as it did 30 years ago. I love it.
I was 14 when the album "Behaviour" came out. Now I'm 38, it's 2015 and I'm still listening to this song. And it brings me back sweet, sweet memories. "All the people I was kissing, some are here and some are missing" - Try to not shed a tear on that sentence, if you can!
+Thomas Samoht , it's one of my favorite of all time. I am 10 years older than you. It's the only song Ilike from this band. It's a great song in every way.
Belinha Fernandes My brother had "Actually", "Introspective" and "Disco", and a frien of mine lent me "Behavior" back then. Loved all of their albums, from first to last song...
+Thomas Samoht Bingo. I am 36 now and Being Boring was on the video tape with MTV videos, my first encounter with the notion of 'music video' somewhere around 1993... I can't find words to describe the depth to which this piece goes in my heart. Writing this right now and weeping. We will be missing, but the music will last.
I'm 18 and I absolutely love every single one of their songs. This is probably my favorite song of all times, the dreamy feelings it carries through those chords, the gorgeous lyrics, the synth pads, the bass line, the drums, the video, the soft Neil's voice, are a class of their own, that's so perfect. It makes me think of being young, in the past, in the flux of time, makes me want to make a video in VHS of myself these days. Although there is a bit of sadness (as he goes "now I sit in different places, in rented rooms and foreign places"), especially seeing them so young (particularly Chris), thinking they're in their 60s now; it's something that makes me cry. Sometimes when I listen to "Behaviour" it feels painful to see them "old" nowadays, in contrast with then. In spite of this I'll enjoy them as long as possible...it's difficult to describe in words how much I love this song (and the PSB)
By God, we really were never being boring. We couldn't be, could we? We all knew back then we were experiencing something special. I am so grateful to have been a part of it, so humbled to have shared the experience with you, my cohorts, and for The Pet Shop Boys who so beautifully captured it all in song. Love, indeed, comes quickly, whatever you do, I'll never stop falling, for you, for you.
Lyrics: I came across a cache of old photos And invitations to teenage parties "Dress in white" one said, with quotations From someone's wife, a famous writer In the nineteen-twenties When you're young you find inspiration In anyone who's ever gone And opened up a closing door She said "we were never feeling bored" 'Cause we were never being boring We had too much time to find for ourselves And we were never being boring We dressed up and fought, then thought make amends And we were never holding back or worried that Time would come to an end When I went I left from the station With a haversack and some trepidation Someone said: "if you're not careful You'll have nothing left and nothing to care for In the nineteen-seventies" But I sat back and looking forward My shoes were high and I had scored I'd bolted through a closing door I would never find myself feeling bored 'Cause we were never being boring We had too much time to find for ourselves And we were never being boring We dressed up and fought, then thought make amends And we were never holding back or worried that Time would come to an end We were always hoping that, looking back You could always rely on a friend Now I sit with different faces In rented rooms and foreign places All the people I was kissing Some are here and some are missing In the nineteen-nineties I never dreamt that I would get to be The creature that I always meant to be But I thought in spite of dreams You'd be sitting somewhere here with me 'Cause we were never being boring We had too much time to find for ourselves And we were never being boring We dressed up and fought, then thought make amends And we were never holding back or worried that Time would come to an end We were always hoping that, looking back You could always rely on a friend And we were never being boring We were never being bored 'Cause we were never being boring We were never being bored
This has always been my favourite song by The Pet Shop Boys. It simply says it ALL ... people who say they are "bored" should listen to this - REALLY LISTEN !!
You're young, Pet Shop Boys were huge in the 1980s, it was a brilliant decade to be alive in, music 🎶 was astonishing, so many good bands and artists.... Today music is obsolete in comparison... Look into the 80s music, you'll love it. 👍
You know, lots of people say that the music of one decade or another had the "Best music". But this incredible song is from my 40's, every decade has its share of brilliant music, This is a perfect example of that. I love the music from the year that I got my first transistor radio on my 10th birthday in 1960. Every year before and after has great music. I still listen to new music and find new bands to love even now, in my 70s. I still like to revisit perfection like "Being Boring" every few weeks for a few hours. It makes me remember these decades, music can bring back the scent, time of year, the place you were, people you were with, and the feelings you experienced. Music is a time machine...
This song is magnificent. The dreamy melodies are as nostalgic and soft as a faded polaroid. But the lyrics stab you where it hurts, because time doesn't stop. If we're lucky, we'll all have that chance to reminisce on our past and think about the end. So bittersweet. I'm always left dumbfounded by the PSB and how deep they can be with pop, a seemingly simple thing. Love them.
The day I leave this planet I will be SO PROUD to have been a teenager in the 80s and to get in adulthood in the 90s. The kids of today don't know how amazing it was, no cellphones, no internet, no social media, and those were still the happiest days of our lives.
I don't get these statements. We've never had so much, and society has come so far since then. My life in the 80's and 90's wasn't that great, so I guess I look back and just see how hateful and narrow minded the world was, and how much effort I had to go through to find art and beauty and good music.
I've managed to survive to my 50's. I think of all my young friends who didn't. This song makes me yearn for the days when I shared their laughter. I will cherish those days forever! Hold on to your friends and let them know how much they mean!!

I'm just going through a severe stage of depression and it seems like my life is faded to failure, I'm 21 years old and just feel like nothing will work out. This song somehow brings me a little hope. I hope I can survive this because deep inside I really want to live. To have a good life and inspire other people. But right now everything seems so distance. I still haven't got anywhere that I want. I hope to find strength enough to keep fighting for myself.
You can get through this, you said you hope to inspire others, im 42 now suffer with depression and anxiety and your inspiring me. You know and got this at 21. You've got a lot to give this world that I'm sure of. Stay strong Marina 👊 You've got this today 🙂
Girl, you're early 20s can be a confusing time. Hang in there..I promise it will get better. You will find yourself as time goes on and things will fall into place ❤️❤️
Marina Batista beautiful girl... 'Sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're behind, the race is long,... and in the end, it's only with yourself'... Listen to Baz Lurman "Everybody's Free (to wear Sunscreen)" Whenever I feel lost, down, bewildered, or behind, I always listen to that song/poem to cheer me up. Your young beautiful and fabulous. Don't sweat the small stuff.
youre still very young, youll be looking back fondly in your thirties, just keep head up and get things done...youre stronger than you realise at the moment
I was 14 when this song came out and could instantly feel it was masterpiece, the song, the lyrics, the video. Now I'm 45 and I feel everything else, the longing, the loss, the passage of time...
This track is a masterpiece in lyric writing, music formation and subject matter, I'm so glad I lived an excessive life during the 80's and 90s what memories, experiences, it was never boring.
My goodness. My dad use to play his old tapes in the car when I was young and I remember having listened to so many songs by the pet shop boys. To come back and listen to this after so long feels so incredibly nostalgic and beautiful. This is real music.
This is Pet Shop Boys’ greatest track, a song even Tennant calls “our moment of pop perfection … our Shangri-La” !Axl Rose from Guns N’ Roses came backstage, and says, ‘But why didn’t you play ‘Boring’, man? I just love that song!’”
It is a beautifully sad song, I remember I had just turned 20 when this song came out and I could not identify with the message because I was never being boring, I just thought the song was about not being boring and having fun. Now in my 40s, it is so bittersweet to listen to this song because I have lost a couple of very dear friends over the years, one a little over a year ago and another some years after this song came out. Plus all those friends you just lose touch with and never imagine you would stop seeing them. I just think in those times and how inmortal we felt, I wish my missing friends were here with me being boring.
That's life Vince... I have the same impression as you... time passes and then we realize our head is totally different from when we were in our 20s... This song is in someway a little depressive too when we think about the good old days that will never come back... that's life.
I once read this was the best track the Pet Shop Boys ever made. "No way" I thought, "nothing beats you were always on my mind from discography". But over the years this has grown on me, and you know, I think they were right. Best song they ever did.
@@chrisChris6969 Rest assured yes I do! I should probably have said "Always On My Mind/In My House" the Pet Shop Boys Remix of the Elvis classic - which shouldn't really work, but does!
This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful songs ever! Nice melody, good and deep message, Neil's outstanding and peaceful voice... Also a great video: youth, beautiful people and a very positive flair. I was just a kid when it was released and just came across it like 10 years ago, but it got me immediately! Now, some years after having it among my favourite ones, I find myself with 32 "sitting with different faces in rented rooms and foreign places", struggling not to being boring and to keep the ones I was kissing around me... Plus, recently a good friend has been diagnosed as HIV-positive, I guess it's now somehow part of my own biography! Thanks, Neil and Chris, for this sublime masterpiece!
A most beautiful requiem for friends..... we were all out for a good time, & some of us died of AIDS...... The video is a bittersweet longing for a carefree time that would never come again.....💔
The nostalgia is rushing in from all different directions within my head! Love the message in this song. A timeless classic. All the memories are being encapsulated in the 'golden' decades of our lives
This is not just a legendary song.
This is a defining moment in our lives. This is the friends and the lovers we lost. This is the dreams we had. This is the youth that slipped our hands. This is the Pet Shop Boys and we are very lucky to have them in our life.

"So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.” I thought this song was going to be about boring people heeheee, what delightful turns of phrase this song takes, and what a beautiful video by Bruce Weber.
a mi me produce una terrible angustía
Bruce Weber did an amazing job on this. The guy responsible for the 90s black and white Calvin Klein esthetic.
this song always makes me confused between crying, shivering, smiling, a bit yearningly, feeling nostalgic, feeling refreshed, ... uuuuh this song fulfills me. They are genious, the boys from the petshop next door
🌈❣️🌻
actually that was their masterplan, and they fullfilled.

+Thomas Samoht Always thought the lyrics on this song were almost poetical
+Thomas Samoht I'm the same age as you and still put behaviour in my top 10 albums list. It is pure class all the way through
Never more I saw so many beauty in a single video. What sucks in being old? The reminds of when we were young
Probably the best music video ever, kudos to all
Those who took part in this masterpiece…. Those years really we were never bored
The best Pet Shop Boys song.
this is an absolute beast of an ode to life, youth, love and beauty. love love love.
One of the best songs ever.
Never being bored of this song. Neil Tennant is one of the best songwriters. His poetry is like fine piece of literature

Certainly one of the best music videos ever.
Amazing song....
I doubt that anything will ever surpass this masterpiece. Timeless.
This song never fails to make me cry everytime.
me too my friend....
It makes me miss my youth and how simple things were then. And how I'd do it all again and more. 😢
i feel sad, dancing in a party thinking about your mortality.
Honestly, this is my most favourite song by Pet Shop Boys, and I cried after listening to this.
Pet Shop Boys- One of the few things that I thanked God for in this ugly world...
Do you know the name of the model around time 4:53-54 of the video?
Perfect, flawless PetShop Boys classic. Never ages...
I don’t know how many times I listened to this song. Never being bored with it. Real masterpiece. 💖
Lyrics:
I came across a cache of old photos
And invitations to teenage parties
"Dress in white" one said, with quotations
From someone's wife, a famous writer
In the nineteen-twenties
When you're young you find inspiration
In anyone who's ever gone
And opened up a closing door
She said "we were never feeling bored"
'Cause we were never being boring
We had too much time to find for ourselves
And we were never being boring
We dressed up and fought, then thought make amends
And we were never holding back or worried that
Time would come to an end
When I went I left from the station
With a haversack and some trepidation
Someone said: "if you're not careful
You'll have nothing left and nothing to care for
In the nineteen-seventies"
But I sat back and looking forward
My shoes were high and I had scored
I'd bolted through a closing door
I would never find myself feeling bored
'Cause we were never being boring
We had too much time to find for ourselves
And we were never being boring
We dressed up and fought, then thought make amends
And we were never holding back or worried that
Time would come to an end
We were always hoping that, looking back
You could always rely on a friend
Now I sit with different faces
In rented rooms and foreign places
All the people I was kissing
Some are here and some are missing
In the nineteen-nineties
I never dreamt that I would get to be
The creature that I always meant to be
But I thought in spite of dreams
You'd be sitting somewhere here with me
'Cause we were never being boring
We had too much time to find for ourselves
And we were never being boring
We dressed up and fought, then thought make amends
And we were never holding back or worried that
Time would come to an end
We were always hoping that, looking back
You could always rely on a friend
And we were never being boring
We were never being bored
'Cause we were never being boring
We were never being bored
So meaningful
Thanks

This has always been my favourite song by The Pet Shop Boys. It simply says it ALL ... people who say they are "bored" should listen to this - REALLY LISTEN !!
This is the same for me and I totally agree with you !

This is beautiful. Never heard this until now. Love it. Pet Shop boys so underrated.
Love them.
Faded polaroid. Perfect comparison...
The day I leave this planet I will be SO PROUD to have been a teenager in the 80s and to get in adulthood in the 90s. The kids of today don't know how amazing it was, no cellphones, no internet, no social media, and those were still the happiest days of our lives.
yo tambien pienso como vos
For me too Caesar ,great Pet Shop Boys
The Best!!!!!
Those were the good old days..
I don't get these statements. We've never had so much, and society has come so far since then. My life in the 80's and 90's wasn't that great, so I guess I look back and just see how hateful and narrow minded the world was, and how much effort I had to go through to find art and beauty and good music.
This song never gets old. No matter how much I listen, I never get bored.
Ha…clever answer!
I've managed to survive to my 50's. I think of all my young friends who didn't. This song makes me yearn for the days when I shared their laughter. I will cherish those days forever!
Hold on to your friends and let them know how much they mean!!
Still one of my favorite PSB songs even after almost 25 years... Brings back so many memories...
Same....its 29 yrs old song now..i remenber listening at 18 yrs...wish cud go back to my youth...miss it a lot....nostalgic
This song and video is EVERYTHING 31 years later! Thank you for this masterpiece!
I can listen to this song 1 million times. A true masterpiece, literally. Just transmits so much comfort to my ears.
The 1715 people who disliked this were being boring

not only boring. but most likely IDIOTS.
Maybe they just hate the fact that they aren’t young anymore
Indeed. One of the most beautiful songs 💕

It was a different time then, when everything meant something, and The Pet Shop Boys helped us achieve that. I miss those days

It's not the age, it's the attitude. Whenever I hear and see this song, I go back to those early 90s when life was so swell. Sublime video.

My goodness. My dad use to play his old tapes in the car when I was young and I remember having listened to so many songs by the pet shop boys. To come back and listen to this after so long feels so incredibly nostalgic and beautiful. This is real music.

I must have been 9 and used to sit for hours watching MTV waiting for this song. Thought it was magical, gosh it brings back memories of my youth.
This song will never be boring Shoot it goes on repeat every time I come across it
This is Pet Shop Boys’ greatest track, a song even Tennant calls “our moment of pop perfection … our Shangri-La” !Axl Rose from Guns N’ Roses came backstage, and says, ‘But why didn’t you play ‘Boring’, man? I just love that song!’”
Can't stand GnR but like Axel now
The most perfect of many great Pet Shop Boys tracks... never again in my lifetime
and today it's 30 years old. Wowsers stevepafford.com/beingboring30/
