What a blast from the past. I worked for a landscaper on the Vineyard back in the late 80's. The board at 5.50 was where we would leave messages for friends. A sort of static mobile phone of its day. It was a great experience for a young bloke from New Zealand.
It’s not dead, it’s off season. I vacation on Block Island off season for my birthday often, because I prefer to have the place to myself and the locals. During the summer it’s unbearable. I prefer to go at the end of May or the first week of June. Stores and restaurants are just opening. We like to rent bikes for the week and explore the sites, it’s nice and relaxing, without the crowds of tourists clamoring.
Of course. The vineyard, Nantucket and cape cod are ghost towns in off season, although 5here people who live there full time.
Im in florida, west coast inland, pinellas county. I hate snow birds! Inconsiderate, drunks, dope addicts, potheads, etc!!
My mom and dad were lighthouse keepers on the island. They were stationed at Eastchop light
That is pretty neat!
It's so nice to see how each home has been cared for. Regardless of size there intricate wood work. They don't make house with beauty anymore unless ur rich
I bet its very beautiful when every bush is in full bloom and the trees have leaves. Thanks Chris 😊
Back Door Donuts doesn't sound very appetizing.
Kinda like seasickness but not.
Thanks for the tour Chris!
👍🤠
i just discovered this vlogger and i dont know his background but i subscribed to him because he has good diction, I'm learning english so it helps.. and this guy has great video contents as well
I have lived in New England for decades. Never had the pleasure. Of visiting the gorgeous island. I guess I have to add that. To my bucket list.😂 The first thing I'd visit would be the ginger houses/ mansions. Luv that kinda stuff. I hope you got to enjoy Martha's Vineyard. Not surprised it wouldn't be cheap. Being a tourist destination. Thanks! For the gorgeous footage. Well done!🚢👋👋
I used to live in the Cape Cod area and visited Martha's Vineyard many times, love the gingerbread houses! Looks like things have gotten more expensive, like everywhere,I guess.Go back in the summertime when everything is open, its beautiful!
Thank you, Chris, for another great video. Sorry you got sick on the way back!
Lamont missed out on that property, Gingerbread houses are to cute , Enjoyed the time we had , your a damn good driver 😊
What a charming and fascinating place. Thanks for bringing it to us...and I trust you are feeling better.
Be safe in your travels, Chris
As soon as the boat stopped moving up and down I felt soo much better. Eating just before loading was probably my doing in!
Very nice video, brings back memories, I grew up in Connecticut 😊
Beautiful houses. I checked Zillow and one of those cottages,3b/1b, is up for sale at $759k,Chris.
They first set up tents in summer, for church camp ,later they built the cottages to be used in summer
Been to Nantucket but never MV! Thanks for the tour! 🙏🙋
I loved Martha's Vineyard! wonderful tour. The whalers -the shops, Restaurants the feel of 1600's to 1700's is amazing. I could picture myself back in that time. Gingerbread homes village - oh Beautiful My husband and I went on a tour there. Diamond Tours - Amazing so much fun and Lot's of lobsters . Wonderful place ! Amazing.
HI Chris , LOVE those cottages only problem too close rogether. if theres ever a fire there goes the whole block!
Your videos are the coolest on CZcams! Thank you!
The pink house was for sale a couple of months ago. I am not sure if it was bought yet. Really cute. I love the Vineyard off season.
They must have a lot of summer events - all those staples. This is definitely off season. Wish our off season was this desolate... Maine
I have never gotten seasick or carsick or plane sick. Sorry you had a tough time riding that ferry. Nice place to visit.
I wish I was like you haha.
Love watching your videos Chris your voice is so calming❤
Thanks 😁
Thanks Chris for taking around Martha's Vineyard with you would love to go there one day enjoyed it as always thank you
Thank you for taking us to Martha's Vineyard. Sorry you had a rough trip on the ferry. I can't do ski boats are ferries. I loved the Gingerbread houses! I've never been in that part of the country. Thanks again for the tour.
Excellent Video! Chris
🍃🌳🇮🇳🌳🍃
Nice! It's beautiful there. I can't imagine going there in the summer. I bet it gets crowded and smells like the ocean. You do good work homie. I like shopping near me. Must be interesting living on a cold island. Thank you. Safe travels. Pretty homes!
Thank u for sharing this video w us Chris 💓. The houses r beautiful. 😊
Fascinating for me bc I’ve never been there and don’t recall ever seeing a video or travel program about Martha’s Vineyard. The gingerbread houses are really interesting. Sorry you got sick on the ferry,
I visited there with my son and his first wife. Loved it. 🥰. Didn't get sea sick. 🤭 Thank God. 🙏. Went to where the Kennedys lived and visited the town. Martha's Vineyard reminded me of Candy Land. 💜💛💙💚🧡
What a great place really enjoyed this thanks
For future knowledge, Dramamene works excellently, especially deep sea fishing!
I always take it on planes but for some reason I didn't even think of it until it was too late! Ah I will remember for the next one
@@MobileInstinct2 I love your videos, Thank you!
You are amazing, Chris. I've been to Cape Cod several times but never out to Martha's Vineyard. Thanks to you, I now have a good idea of what to expect. So sorry you got sick. Those waves looked crazy! Thanks for your dedication!
My grandparents once lived in a ginger bread house on vineyard .
Loving those cute homes. So quaint.
You really took one for the team there on that ferry ! I am positive, I would have been sick ! ❤ 🙏
Beautiful, beautiful awesome video. Thank you very much. Really enjoyed it.😊
The blue one is my favorite!
I love Martha's Vineyard. So beautiful in the summertime.
9:17 The guideline to build a gingerbread house is simple in theory: symmetrical plan, a central one or two story porch, the presence or not of an outdoor balcony on the side, a high pitched rooftop but most importantly... The gingerbread trims. Without gingerbread trims to crown the spindles of the porch and without trimmed bargeboards, you simply don't get the characteristic style. It is reasonably personalizable to an extent, as long as the trimming is part of a cohesive gothic theme.
Awesome houses , beautiful site ❤ not what we have down south Thanks for sharing (emotion sickness... ugh 😩)
Thank you Chris for a Winters visit to a beautiful special place🕊💙🕊Stay well
What a great experience, thank you
The gingerbread house thing is just creepy.
You have to gi back to the cottages on Illumination Night. The whole neighborhood is decorated with thousands of vintage Japanese lanterns. Its so beautiful, like going back in time. Magical!
To stop my seasickness
(on friend's yachts, sea & lake ferries, and tour boats)
I noticed if I'm eating something/anything, then it subsides, greatly.
Also, for me, if I go to the bow,
of any boat,
I feel best, opposed to the stern.
In Mexico, all I had in my pocket were a few Starburst chewy candies, for the local kids, however, I ended-up needing them on the boat ride, and felt less ill for the duration on the water.
No meds; you simply need snacks. 😊
If you are ever traveling through the Hershey PA region, check out Mt. Gretna village. It has the same feel.
Grateful ❤
Oh my gosh! Thank you ❤
Very interesting. Many thanks. Beautiful houses....... magical
Very nice ... Thank You
I loved the little cottages. Very cool ! Thanks for bringing your you tubies with you !
Thanks for the feature!
Beautiful ❤
Great video. Sorry you got so ill.
Nice to watch with you.
Beautiful ❤❤😊
Looks like a movie set...gorgeous
How sad is it that their gas is still cheaper than California. Currently at about $4.40 to $4.50 near me. Thanks for the tour!
Im 14 minutes in and have yet to see one other person. RUN RUN !!!!!
I have been to John Belushi's shirtly after he died. There was just a pile of rocks wuth an unopened beer and a joint. At the time they were thinking of moving hus grave bc so many people were gking there to see it. It didn't have a stone when i went. I brought my Trans Am over when i went.
It's not a ghost town. It's just off-season. I live in a North Carolina beach town . It looks just like this until after Memorial Day, then as vacationers arrive, it's bumper to bumper traffic til schools starts in August.
I've heard about coastal areas like MV, Newport, RI or the Hamptons, etc, for a long time, but didn't realize until more recently how weather & terrain do affect their look & vibe. I don't know why I used to assume there wasn't much of a difference between the oceanside towns of the Mediterranean (Spain, southern France, Greece, Italy) compared with what in the US (mainly northeastern seaboard) is analogous to coastal UK.
Like being in Palm Springs CA in August!
I love Martha's but not in the summer with all the tourists. I lived in Florida, now South America, but I remember standing on the deck of the ferries in early Spring. It is a great place to get away from the rat race. I still keep live webcams of the ferry docks.
Realy interesting thankyou .
I grew up with John Bolushie , movies and satarday night live .
I have tons of pictures of the gingerbread houses from my visit there. They are so beautiful!
you looked rough and happy at the same time dude as you were getting off that ferry.
That’s really expensive for a ferry trip. They don’t want the regular people coming over for a visit.
Loved this video--it was really good- we are hoping to visit sometime
I love yr channel!
Cape Cod is ALWAYS barren in the winter 🤣
Come back in the summer, and you can barely walk down the street for all the tourists 😉
Those colorful houses, looks like something out of a Cartoon.
You had me at cottage cheese.
Great video!
Yes, gingerbread houses look like they popped straight out from Hansel and Gretel's story. Pastel color theming does a lot to tone down the gothic austerity of these. I can't think of another past style with which it'd fit perfectly. It's difficult to pull off, because having a theme park dollhouse is not the desired effect.
I love that imitation "Shaark".
Good video. I now know about Martha's Vineyard without having to go there.
That was a great video thanks so much. I am going to look up your Ted Kennedy video
I get sea sick too. Awful!
I just found your channel. Will go through your videos this weekend. Looks interesting
Across the water is Wareham, same houses.
THANKS
Why is John Belushi buried on Martha's Vineyard? When i think of him its Chicago that comes to mind first.
John Belushi is buried on Martha's Vineyard, having fallen in love with the island, during his life.
Thank you for filming this! 😊
”In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.“
John 14:2 KJV
These are SO beautiful; can you imagine what heaven must be like? 💗🙏🏼
I've been prone to motion sickness my whole life. It is not a fun time. Awesome tour. Glad your feeling better.
Motion sickness has plagued me since childhood. Now I ride a van to our Ramona Senior Center and get queasy if I don't sit in the front next to the window!
@@looneytunes7878
I, eventually, realized that if I sit/stand at/near the bow of any water vessel, my seasickness completely subsides.
Also, found out I need to eat while on the water, to make it go away.
Wow I had no idea😮
great
Reminds me a little of Chautauqua, NY.
They kinda look like a little doll house village, like a bunch of friends all showing off their own doll house
feel better bro
Those are cute houses
dope
That teal and pink one would be mine if i had the money for one. That yellow and blue one is pretty too! The pink one was too.
I liked that one too
Its winter dude. Lol. ❤
I've lived in Massachusetts for most of my life and have never been to the Vineyard or Nantucket.
Wow
Looks to me 😔 ghost town and very depressing.
Jaws was filmed on Jekyll Island, Ga.
Thats one cool place. 🌊🤮😹
That's an awesome price on gas it's 1.57 a liter here in Nova Scotia Canada
Back in the 1950's when I was a kid in San Jose Ca. we lived in an old 1800's house on Julian Street. It was crap and did not look like these lol. Was basically the hood!
