This is not a love song to his mother, it's the opposite. He sings "mother's going to make all your nightmares come true, mother's going to put all of her fears into you"
Pink Floyd is one of the GOATs in Rock history, they've sold hundreds of millions of albums worldwide, they've sold out the biggest venues for decades. They were formed in London in 1964. I was at one of these Pink Floyd "The Wall" concerts in February of 1980, it was the most incredible performance I've ever seen in all my 67 years on this planet! It's a fictious story about a Rock star named Pink, (no such person, Pink Floyd, is the name of the band, not a person), who lost his father in WW2, he developed mental issues, and he has built a metaphorical Wall around himself to separate him from his fans, his overbearing, overprotective Mother, his abusive teacher. "The Wall" is an epic Pink Floyd Concept double album released in 1979, the album tells the story of Pink. Many of Pink Floyd albums are Concept albums, like a movie, they tell a story.
But this song is about the insanely over protective mother. Part of a bigger story. "Pink" lost his father in WW2 while he was just a baby. As well as mentally scaring Pink, his mother, left alone with her baby, becomes obsessive about protecting Pink from the entire outside world. Heads up, it does end well for Pink 😢
So many people review this song as a first time reaction and completely miss the point of the song. They come away thinking it's a beautiful song about a Mothers love instead of realizing it's about a Mother who psychologically destroys her child.
ever get the chance watch the movie Pink Floyd "The Wall" hold on & get ready for a roller coaster ride Rodger Waters "Pink Floyd" is the best Rodger Waters : Wait for Her - Vera / Bring The Boys Back Home - Two Suns In The Sunset - The Bravery of Being Out of Range & Roger Waters - Amused to Death (cover)
Please do yourself a favour and watch every clip that is titled "Pink Floyd - Pulse". One of the greatest concerts of all time. Why do you think Pink Floyd is ALWAYS named in the lists of "Greatest bands of all time"? I have heard every single superlative used to describe Pink Floyd. I have NEVER heard Pink Floyd described as "meh".
Not for you then. 😂 your doing yourself a great disservice though. But you won't care, so ignore Floyd. (Really? No energy? Wow.... one if the if not THE best and exciting live bands ever)

Welcome to the world of the Pink Floyd .
Thank you
Their Wall lp is probably the greatest of all time
Unlike many bands, everyone in this band were singers and also knew their cues -all while operating many instruments at the same time.

My Mom passed on the 10th of this month, but 1 year prior I let her listen to this song. She hated it! But she was happy I was thinking about her.
Oh so sorry 😢

All the things you said about mothers should be true, but this song isn't about those mothers. It is about the
"edible mother".
I am certain that the novel and later the movie "Manchurian Candidate" was based on this song. If anyone knows better, please share.
