  • Got the platinum trophy and did everything there is to do but still couldn't find when the fun started. As a fan of strategy/tactical RPGs, I was hoping Diofield Chronicles would deliver something memorable. I wasn't quite prepared for the mess I was about to get myself into. People kept bringing up Game of Thrones when talking about this game but I never watched it so... here are my non-GoT related thoughts.
Follow me on Twitter! I'll post about the games I'm playing and random other things. It'll also have video updates in case CZcams isn't notifying you.

There is nothing wrong with the game.
All your doing is bashing the game which further proves that reviewers don't play the game for shit, and stop like half way.

I think the game is pretty good. Don't let other people influence your desire to play the game.

this feels as a weird comment to write since I am the first comment, but I feel like playing in hard is most of the time easier than playing in normal when you play jrpgs, because you grow so much faster. But ok, back to the video, thanks for the review.

In this case, the only difference was the damage enemies did was doubled compared to the easiest mode. I got legit curious so I looked it up afterwards lol.

Man I'm so conflicted about whether or not to try this game. The initial reveal and trailers didn't interest me enough, but all of the reviews I had heard talked about how amazing the game was. I love Strategy games, and Square Enix, so I had ultimately decided I would probably give it a try. But now I'm seeing less than positive reviews as well, so I'm wondering if my initial impression of the game was spot on. Plus I already have like 90 games in my backlog, so I'll probably have to pass on it for now. Maybe when I'm old and have played every game in my backlog I'll give it a try 😂

DioField + Valkyrie Elysiun are quite miss opportunity sadly. I hope that Star Ocean 6 and Harvestella will be better. :)

I casually play strategy rpg, I can't say I'm a fan even liking FF Tatics, Sayuki or Disgaea, I think the games are fun 'n cool to chill on, but be a hardcore player is another story, the slow pacing of the genre is not my thing, I like the strategy on position 'n jobs etc, but it intends to get complex real fast for my own pacing, usually I stay for the story after some hours, I do still play those games ocasionally but never as hard as I play other RPGs, I had a bit of hype for this game but now I'll just pass by

As expected sadly. Anything squeenix outside ff and dq these days is barely b grade and usually c or worse. Company is dying. Sale coming soon

I haven't read a more incorrect statement about Square Enix's game output in a long time. Impressively bad take. Have you even played any of this year's "barely b grade and usually c or worse" games published by SE like Triangle Strategy, Star Ocean 6, etc? These are among the best games of 2022. Some of their smaller scale games are also really fun -- like Dungeon Encounters, and the Voice of Cards games. Not every good game has to be huge in scope.
Sure they have some clunkers, but with 22 games releasing in one year that is inevitable. At least 16 of them are good games, including some fun re-releases of old classics. Also, company is not dying -- it's in impressive financial shape thanks to FF14, and the other FF games coming in the near future are going to sell gangbusters.
If it gets sold to a western company like SIE San Mateo, as so many Japanese-game-haters seem to want, it is very likely that they'll lose what magic they still have.

@@sonicmania9993 don't share your opinion about those games. Very unimpressed by them. Been playing squeenix games for almost 30 years. They're at their worst point.

@@tonymack "don't share your opinion about those games."
LOL, why bother to post a comment on a video like this if you're not willing to engage in dialogue? It is perfectly reasonable for you to prefer 1990s Square and Enix games to their games today. It is also perfectly reasonable for other equally discriminating gamers to have a different opinion. I enjoy games from these companies from both eras ... classic games from the 1990s are obviously their Golden Age (and a big part of making me who I am as a gamer), but the last 5 years (since Nier Automata) has been just a small step down from the 90s. I would argue that their "worst point" was during PS3/360 gen (and even then, most games were at least good).
I am also someone who has been playing Square Enix games since Dragon Warrior 1 and Final Fantasy 1 in 89-90, and my opinion is as valid as yours. Bye
