    This is a perfect example of a grieving person. This daughter is grieving the upcoming loss of a beloved father. When is the last time we grieved? Remember how we felt? Grief is a rollercoaster of conflicting and intense emotions. Give this daughter a break, please.

    Makaziwe Mandela, spoke on behalf of a family that is hurting now. Their final hours with their father, is interrupted.As a family they have all the right to be up-set! Makaziwe spoke from the heart, she rightfully said journalist from the world over did not report on the well being of Margaret Thatcher or Ronald Rago. Respect the family, wish them well.GIVE THEM THEIR SPACE. God bless. peace be with the Mandela Family. Amen.

    I completely agree with you. The problem is that people have idolized him to such an extent that many see him as the "Jesus of South Africa". I was shocked to hear someone actually saying this the other day when I was listening to 702.
    Now if people see him as their saviour then one can understand the total frenzy that is surrounding his illness, even if the frenzy is unjustified.

    Mandela is important but Marc Rich who died in June 26,is much more important and his contribution with The Rich Foundation' is fundamental to millions of persons around the world but few are ready to admited...SPAIN give Citizenship to that brave man and we feel honored of consider mr Rich and Spaniard more..R.I.P Mr Rich and my best wishes to madiba and his recuperration we still need him in South Africa

    Makaziwe must understand that his father is a world icon and the right to access any information held by the state or anyone is quaranteed in the constitution in terms of section 32,and freedom of press and media is also there. Leave the media to give the whole world about the condition of world icon

    I completely agree with her regarding privacy and that the desire for 'gory details' is crass. I have found that certain radio hosts are creating a negative history in the making of this very sensitive and sacred time for our country. I also agree that the media has become lazy, and not only on this matter. Her manner is unfortunate but her father is passing. Re Pieter Marais' comments down below, best ignored.

    I agree though ... I understand her point ... if you think about it how People "killed" the man on social networks before he even dead ... !! .. Give the man and his Family respect in this time of Life

  • @MayaMiaow
    @MayaMiaow Před 11 lety

    Having watched the full interview (not just the out of context comments reported) I absolutely agree with Makaziwe with the exception of the "racist" comment. The reason that I am more interested in Madiba than Margaret Thatcher is not only because I am South African but because Margaret Thatcher was evil and Nelson Mandela is the polar opposite.

  • @pakanel

  • @thabisowanda8896

    Another thing is that sections 10 and 14 in Chapter 2 of the Constitution provides that every one has a right to privacy and that everyone has the right to inherent dignity and the right to have their dignity respected and protected. what the media is currently doing is infringing the Mandela family's rights and most of all our Tata's.

    I Support Makaziwe, all people complain about ricist are white people, because the know that they are ricist when coming to black people. we need to respect that family, in our culture as black people we respect the right of people that sick. reporting about is medical file its about disrespecting the Man. I don't think black journalist will report about Mandela medical file. White people who are ricist get a life and respect Mandela family.

    I think she needs to remember that as much as Mandela is her dad, he is the father of the nation. I am heartbroken that he is so sick, i look at him a father as well. I do agree that their privacy is important but we also want to know how he is doing. Lets find a balance.

    The politicians Makaziwe mentioned all died in different circumstances during which there was no build up time for people/ journalist to gather around the locations. The news of their death were sudden, sometimes the build up to the inevitable happening determines what happens around the period. In my opinion her comments were more of racial discrimination than the journalist behavior she referred to because they were from all parts of the world including south Africans.

    I am perplexed as to how she manages to tie racism to the media circus... However, I have to agree - it has become ridiculous how the media crushes the privacy of the family. We should all take a few steps back and let him and his family deal with his condition. None of us are entitled to anything, least of all a blow-by-blow account of this matter.

    God forbid!! At one tym we were told ANC will rule until Jesus comes; now we are then told there's ANC in "Heaven" & Madiba will "join" it??? hayiboo lets respect heaven & never mention it on earthly debacles if we dnt understnd what kind of a place it is & shall be!! Oooh yes l love Madiba,, he inspires me here & there; also praying fr his speedy recovery,,,,, but the bible states clearly no amount of political heavyweightness will take anyone to heaven!! before God we're all equal,,

    Whilst I empathise with the family during this time, it appears that Makaziwe is being used as a political pawn for the objectives of the ruling party. I don't believe that there was ever an icon which the worldwide community adored as much as Tata Madiba and hence the interest of the journalists. Seems that she has a personal vendetta against international news co's for releasing the info re the ambulance debacle. This is not racist, this is human nature when an icon prepares to leave this us.

  • @cocomatt9291
    @cocomatt9291 Před 11 lety

    I can totally understand that it must be very frustrating for Tata's family, but I don't believe she is doing this interview in a manner that Madiba would approve. She comes across as bitter and angry.

    I don’t think the media has gone overboard, at the end of the day the decision you father took to take on apartheid made him an international and public Icon, but because you and the presidency has failed to provide proper updates of his condition this would not have been such a big issue, I must say Mrs Mandela you sound like a very arrogant person

    If I had the opportunity of being in south Africa today. I would have loved to be there m either as a journalist or as an observer, it does not matter which. To be making a comparison of a great personality like Mandela with M. Tatcher who she knows the sort of disturbances that occurred during even her last moment is unbelievable. From information that are verifiable at the moment, the people swarming around the Hospital are of all mix in terms of race, culture and profession.
