The parent album of this song came out in March 76. You're right. Many bands that came later (specifically Iron Maiden) took the Priest blueprint and ran with it. Basically, Judas Priest single handedly invented metal as you now know it, back in the mid 70s. I saw them a few times late 70s here in the UK. Always awesome. I strongly suggest that you listen to the whole album (Sad Wings Of Destiny) and reflect on how that one album changed the whole scene from 'rock' (Purple, Sabbath etc) to 'metal' It has to be said, its also a brilliant album

It was at Lehigh University gymnasium …. a small place by Priest standards. 4th row on the floor caught a guitar pick & got showered with Rob’s sweat multiple times as I clawed to the barrier. The mighty Brits left us drained & deaf for a couple days. Easily one of my top 5 shows of all time. I still remember the chills I got when the lights suddenly went off, & the spoken word intro to Number of the Beast blasted out, letting us know Maiden was about to kick some arse. But then Priest came out to remind us that they were the true Metal Gods. It was my first real metal show, & altho I have seen some great rock concerts over the years, this one was the best, in my humble opinion. Was around to appreciate it back then - but have to say even with the new guys in the band they can still pull this off - kudos Rob Halford!

Fun fact, I was the Vocalist in a Metal band when I was young. I made the band learn this so I could sing it at shows.

I know this is an old thread, but I just saw it so I'll comment anyway.
Thank you for using this particular performance of Victim of Changes. So many reactionistas use the same outdoor stadium show where they are clearly overheated and the acoustics are inferior. This show is a better performance, and far more typical of a night with the Priest. I can say this, having seen 7 tours beginning with British Steel. Their live shows were stunning, not to mention LOUD. Look at all those Marshalls and think enclosed venue. I was at the front of the stage near the left stack during one of the shoes, and my ears rang for 3 weeks.

Priest cannot be put in a box. Comments are telling you to go from this 1976 song, then jump ahead to the 1990 Painkiller when there is so much more in between that. Priest was the only metal band that had the foresight to see the change not just in metal, but in music as a whole. And in turn, they changed with it, but kept 'their' sound. From the 70s clean funk and groove, to the early 80s hair metal, into the 80s synth sound, and into the 90s heavy, thrash. No other band had performed that feat. 50 years of metal this year, and still playing. Un-fuckin-believable!

Judas Priest's first album came out in 1974! Rocka ROLLA ! Had a bottle cap that looked like the coca cola cap. But said Rocka ROLLA ! 82... Far from the early stages of metal ! This was on the Sad Wings of Destiny album. I believe released in 76.

There's a reason that Priest are nicknamed Metal Gods with Rob being THE Metal God. That guy is absolutely positively insane. The thing is: they're still around and still kicking ass. Their 20018 album was certainly one of the best if not the best metal album of that year. The best known lineup fronted by Rob was assembled between 1972 and 1974, the band was nominally around before that, but it was a very different band. So, basically started in the 70s, still great in 2020. That's 5 decades of evolution. 5 decades of pushing forward, 5 decades of incorporating influences and creating something new from that. There's so many great songs in their catalogue and not a single one sonds like they've done something like it before.

i seen them four times and i realize how fortunate i was to grow up back when metal was in the beginning of its birth and infantsy .,what i loved about these guy was they stuck it out without breaking up like my second favorite band ,Black Sabbath who i seen also four times but ,three different singers over a few years ,Seen them with Ozzy, then 1979 Dio join for Heaven and Hell ,seen that tour, in Toronto Canada, the the following year the mob rules and finely the born again tour with Deep Purples front man a great album just like both Dio,s albums ,between Judas priest and black sabbath concerts i was in heaven ,It seems like there was a concert almost every weekend when i was growing up, seen Deep Purple ,Scorpions Ozzy solo ,Dio ,solo,Stones,The Who ,Accept, Motorhead Rush a couple times Pink Floyd, Aerosmith,ACDC,Kiss,Def leppard,,Alice Cooper,Triumph,,Van Halen and Iron Maidan .Judas Priest was the top of the pile.I remember i missed one concert because i was in jail and i was so pissed. Thanks guys for doing this! It took me back to high school and this very Priest tour. Me and 2 buddies road tripped 200 miles in a 70s VW bug with a rusted out floor board. Its a miracle we survived the concert let alone the trip! ; ) I appreciate the comment about being lucky to be around during this time, its true. Saw so many pioneers of metal. Love your Maiden videos too. They were the best.
