Dale Watson - one of the great overlooked singers and songwriters. Saw him many moons ago here in the UK - great night, great tunes ! Thanks for the memory.

I saw Dale in my hometown of Sunshine, Australia, brought out by Audrey Auld.

I loved Ray’s remark about Blake Shelton. Ray Price flushed more talent down the toilet every morning than Blake Shelton will ever have.

OTIS, off the charts again having Dale on and talking about Ray Price the country Frank Sinatra. I am 67 and loved both of these guys , both different but are great and loved their albums since I was a kid .

My cousin Calvin has one of Ray Price's tour buses. It's at the bottom of a lake in the Athens Texas scuba park.

I heard of Dale while listening to a Texas music podcast. I checked him out on Google, saw the coolest telecaster Ever and then started listening to his music. He has an great sound and look too - I love his Baby makes me biscuit song. My wife dances to his music - it's got a real swing to it.
Another "good'en" Otis - thank you sir.
PS - sending you & Amy an early "Happy Anniversary" greeting from Nancy & I.❤👍

Dale used to live four houses down the street from us in Austin. I never met him as our schedules were quite different. He used the end of the street by our house for a photo shoot once. We went to see him at the Luckenbach dance hall, it don’t get much better than that.

Dale Watson is great. Throw back artist since he started. Got some great songs. Ray Price was the king of crooners though. My parents kind of forced us on him with their late night parties. Used to go to sleep listening to Make the world go away. I saw him 3 times in the 2000's. He almost went into a trance when he sang. It was beutiful. He always started his shows with a joke about Englebert Humperdink. It was funny. Old school entertainer. Real Pro! I really liked his version of Little Green Apples too. Thanks O!

I have been blessed to see Dale many times. Just saw him a few weeks back in his new hometown of Marshall Texas. Always the best entertainer. I got to see Ray Price at a casino in Oklahoma, just pure magic onstage.
Love your channel Otis keep up the good , important work you do.

I heard he lived with Hank when he was starting out. I’d love to hear some of those stories. Kris Kristophen wrote some of the greatest songs ever and there are certain ones that some singers make their own. Of course Janis Joplin is identified by Bobby Magee and Cash singing Sunday morning coming down I still listen to and deeply relate to but Ray Price singing For the good times still ranks as in my top 5 favorites of country songs. And any list that Hank Williams is also on tells it all.Much like Mel Torme Rays singing could only be described as like silk or velvet. Was planning on seeing him at a local casino but we had an emergency and couldn’t make it.He died soon thereafter. It’s one of the many if only or what ifs we all have. When I hear one those songs it takes me back to my youth and where I was and how I was feeling and memories, long forgotten, come flooding back.
Thank you again for your site and its content. Your comments, readings and tape recordings bring back memories I’m sure would have never been taken out of storage again in my life. You’re channel is the only one I finally subscribed to because for the most part I hate social media and the BS that goes with most of it. Keep em coming. It’s the first thing I look for in the morning and your content gives me so much joy and happiness and that’s very rare these days.

That’s funny , i remember back when Blake made that remark i can remember thinking want a dip shit thing to say !! I can almost guarantee that’s the music he was raised on !! Ray Price always had a great band especially with Buddy emmons , which a lot of those old classic country guys did . Little Jimmy always had a great band , Merle always had a killer band with Roy Nichols & Don Markham , also Johnny Gimple & Ralph Mooney who would play with him anyway my point is these guys back then had members in there bands that added value , that people came to see & it’s not that way today at all in my opinion.
