  • Overview
Experts will share best practices on gender care, including Genspect’s newly launched Gender Framework. There is analysis of affirmative guidelines, policy, and treatment rates. The nature of sex and gender in early Maori society is discussed as well as how schools contribute to gender distress, and how families and parents are impacted and responding. The webinar ends with a discussion of the psychology behind widespread institutional capture and a discussion of next steps.
The webinar features a discussion between Australian doctor Jillian Spencer and a New Zealand doctor on Gender Treatments for Children in NZ and across the Tasman.
This webinar promotes respectful and open discussions regarding sexuality and gender in the light of current scientific and clinical evidence. We will discuss questions such as:
How strong is the evidence base for gender transition in New Zealand?
Are puberty blockers safe and reversible?
Do children have the capacity to consent to gender treatments?
Do we do more harm by giving or withholding treatment?
Dr Dianna Kenny PhD was a member of staff at The University of Sydney for 31 years. She retired with the title of Professor of Psychology and Professor of Music. Dianna continues to undertake research and clinical practice in developmental psychology, developmental psychopathology, psychoanalysis, behavioural science and music psychology. Her current projects include gender dysphoria in children and adolescents and music performance anxiety.

@@annikabjornson998 Transgender identifying men. 'Trans' is too vague. Which is why they use it.
      Trans what?
      Transvestite? Is a cross dresser.
Even they know changing their clothes can't be misconstrued as a 'civil rights movement.' It's just clothes.
Transsexual? Has had cosmetic surgery in weird places.
And that's all it is. Those parts they are having altered in appearance are part of an entire reproductive system, which does not change. It's just for looks.

Is one of the most important books I’ve ever read.
And the parallels between everything we see now and Nazism has and continues to strike me like lightening from the sky.

It’s strikes me also that Christianity seems to encompass all the values we have lost and the warnings against the defiling of those values.
As holding the child as sacred who in infancy is as vulnerable and wild as an animal.
The importance of the motherly nurture and of her ability to allow her child the freedom to risk being broken by the world - to avoid over coddling your child, to train the wild animalistic nature out of them and towards being a dignified and respectful member of the family and of the wider society.
So that he can be prepared to act alone in the world with true understated, unseen but felt virtue.
The virtues of loving your neighbour as if he is yourself - is to be able to make hard decisions such as not giving everyone what they want because in the long run it’s bad for them over taking the easy option for yourself and giving in.
Even the aspect of king Herald wanting every male Jew newborn killed.
It seems Christianity speaks to every psychological motivation and offers the layout to understanding those motivations and the real life consequences in symbolic metaphor to illustrate universal truths.
As a collective we are all naturally designed to orient toward an organising principal. Where secularism has flattened the landscape to make room for liberalism - the majority still unconsciously gravitate toward a higher structure. Trans activists have stepped in to fill that role.

    • @Nous520
      @Nous520 Před 3 měsíci

@@Gingerblaze I’m not saying that liberalism is responsible for queer theory. I’m saying the absence of religion or a higher moral principle beyond the human individual leads to differing moral values and priorities. Which in essence is what liberalism is.
Liberalism is beautiful in theory but not everyone can be trusted to act with morally calibrated motivation.
We DO have to subjugate ourselves to something fundamentally higher than ourselves. For some truth itself is enough and that should be enough - to me God is equal to truth rather than perfection.
If people would take the bible and god less literally, it would translate to “the essence of truth” in every domain of life for human beings.
And in essence, liberalism tries to achieve that but without a higher principle that incorporates self reflection as well as direction In those who may have more selfish desires but would be god fearing enough to monitor themselves.

Which religion DOESN'T hold children as sacred, or preach treating your neighbour as yourself? (Not even sure how that last one is directly relevant- A believer in "gender" nonsense would say that caving in to a child's desire to """"transition"""" IS "treating your neighbour, as yourself"; ie Allowing the kid's desires, in the same way we ALL want our desires to be allowed... that's why they're called "desires"... But the reason we DON'T allow children legal consent, is because we acknowledge that children need special protection, even from their own desires.
Children are the one group who we DON'T "treat, as we wish to be treated".
Children are, for very good reason, given special protection, that would be "authoritarian lack of autonomy", if applied to an adult).
I kind of agree, that "gender" insanity has stepped into a vacuum of foundational moral bedrock, that USED to be inhabited by religion, in past decades. But I don't see how the issue is absence of Christianity, specifically (except that it was the norm in the West, historically).
Muslims make this exact same argument (often extending it, to CRITICIZE Christianity); "Look what's happening in these Western/Christian nations- People don't know if they're men or women, and they're sterilizing their own kids!!! THIS is what happens, without the guidance of Islam!!! THIS is the result of the weakness and permissiveness of Christianity!!"
There are Christians who support all this "gender" insanity. And while it's true that many trans-activists atheists, many of its biggest OPPONENTS are atheists, too- Richard Dawkins, Kellie Jane Keen, Cathleen Stock, J. K Rowling, etc.
If there's any one issue where people from ALL belief systems, Christian, atheist, Muslim, Jew, Hindu, whatever, should all agree on, it's this one- Protecting children from needless mutilation/sterilization. And acknowledging the simple, immutable physiological reality of the two sexes.
If there's ANY issue where we shouldn't get distracted by "my ideology is better than yours", and should stand in solidarity, REGARDLESS of religion/lack of religion, it's THIS issue...

I mean, what are the two spirits in question, if not some kind of binary? I’m looking for internal logical consistency here…

Once upon a time we were identified, ruled and contained by class - poor, middle, rich, elite. We have moved away from class identity to gender, race and sexuality identity isn't a bourgeoisie conspiracy theory. Rather,
its a strategy implemented to save the leftist movement from irrelevancy. Morality determined by individuals is the new political game and can’t be achieved unless it's done with tyranny and authoritarian force and that force has now claimed to be the official arbiter of what's right and what is wrong, what is good and what is evil. This is what has allowed for the tyranny of cancel culture. The deplatforming of people who have views out of alignment of the official narrative, labelling these people bigoted, racist misogynist, etc, clamping down on free speech and debate, is the only way the left can institute the “unity” that only an
objective morality can provide. This is the only way to achieve class consciousness and will eventually lead to the downfall of this country and every country that is buying into this garbage.

If the binary exists, then there are only 2 options, as that is the definition of "binary." Hence, there is no 3rd ("non-binary") option. Just one of many inherent contradictions in this gender nonsense.

Two spirit is a term coined in the 90s and wasn’t used by indigenous cultures. And most indigenous cultures have very clear roles for the two sexes. Which is why many people who felt that they didn’t fit into one of those very strict roles ended up dressing as the other, taking on the roles of the other. Because those cultures forced them into it due to a complete lack of embracing certain behaviors. But now activists are trying to claim this as some kind of sign of how culturally superior those cultures are, and how natural it all is. There have been many documentaries about how the Ladyboys of Thailand, and the Sistagals of New Zealand weren’t accepted as gay men in very strict binary cultures, so they were forced to pretend to be women. Same in Iraq where gay men are given the choice of transition, or else.

Years ago - back in the '80's - I watched a show where the guests were trans sexual women (no trans men) and the host asked them 'Why do you think you are a woman?'. Even then I was struck by how banal and confused their answers were: by their definition I was not a woman because I didn't want to wear high heels, loads of make up, and paint my nails. That's literally how ridiculously 'surface' their answers were.

I think it is a disorder or a set of disorders with maybe even a underlying disorder which lead to the false assumption that one is born in the wrong body. So i find it hard to believe that such thing is for real. What i do believe though is that folks think it is hip, cool and modern to add attributes of another gender which i think folks are not willing to admid to themselves resulting in mental disorder.

What is Symbolic Thinking ? Why is the concept of symbolic thinking , behavior and communication important in understanding the uniqueness of stone artifacts that begin the Stone Age ?
Symbolic Communication and Behavior or Language and Culture
Anthropology's special contribution to scientific understanding of humanity is the concepts of _language and culture_, or the symbolic nature of human behavior, communication and social organization. Language and culture make human evolution unique in comparison with the evolution of other species ( see below).
Culture is behavior ruled by a mental system of shared customs, traditions, values, ideas and material products of a particular group of people. Culture and language , or symbolic communication , are unique and exclusive characteristics of human beings, the species Homo sapiens . No other animal species has cultural behavior, despite the exaggerated claims of some primatologists for chimps and gorillas. Other animals have communication between them BUT NOT SYMBOLIC COMMUNICATION LANGUAGE.

No, Christian holidays are not appropriations of pagan holidays, they in fact coincide with Jewish holidays because the first Chrsitians were former Jews. There are certainly aspects of Christian cultures from varius countries that have "appropriated" former pagan customs/symbols unique to those regions such as the early Christian depictions of Jesus as Apollo/Helios, or Jonah being depicted as Endymion. But this idea that Christian holidays are explicitly inspired by Roman pagan ones is such a myth I'm very surprised to hear an otherwise educated woman paying it any creedence. @@robertmarshall2502 Self-ID is a method, not a definition. So you can define woman, for example, as a social construct containing a set of social norms and then say that the way to align oneself with that set is to sincerely self-ID with it. Like how people do with religions, or the term spiritual. Seems easy enough, but I'm no scholar. Dictionaries define woman and include self-ID so it seems totally possible.

    • @robertmarshall2502
      @robertmarshall2502 Před 3 měsíci +2

@@someonesomeone25 You can define woman via gender as a social construct with certain norms but then you have to outline in more detail what those norms are. Which never happens.
It would need to then be specific to a society. In the West that would be pretty difficult to do which is why third genders appear more commonly in places where gender norms are far more strict.
Then, because it is socially constructed, the admission or exclusion from that category would be reliant on social acceptance not self-id. All of this would essentially be an exercise in trying to live up to a stereotype and "passing".
Then you need to define trans woman. And however you twist that 99%+ of these trans identifying males don't come close to living up to the gender they claim. So it would be more accurate to say a tiny proportion of trans women theoretically could live up to the gender woman. We don't seem to have any actual examples though.
The connection with religion seems apt but again if you say you're a Christian but only read the Qur'an then others are able to disagree. And they won't let you join the priesthood. Having a belief is one thing but enforcing it on others is another.
If trans ppl only wanted freedom of gender belief it wouldn't be so much of an issue. As long as they were able to take the fact that in the West we try not to treat ppl differently based on gender and so it would be unethical for us to start doing so for them as a special exception.
Unfortunately that's not what many want. The males want access to female spaces. The rest of the word games is just a vehicle to allow them to end female rights and serve their own selfish interests.
P.S. The other key is when the word woman means sex and when it means gender and how there are practically no times when the latter is preferable to the former when organizing society or creating laws.

I agree they are culturally and temporally specific, fuzzy, and mutable. I don't see this listing as something that can be done exhaustively as a practical exercise, but that seems unnecessary. Ballpark and general indications seem adequate.
As for people not doing that, I can't comment. But let's say I just rattle off half a dozen things found within that set for the UK. That would seem easy enough to do.

Sure. ANY word can come to """mean""" ANY nonsense you choose, when an authoritarian group captures enough institutions, and replaces a practical, useful, EVIDENCE-BASED definition, with an arbitrary, 100% evidence-free definition, that's based solely on religious faith, and the power of "but it FEEELS true, to me!!!"
But even faith-based "gender" ideology relies on the old, un-forced, evidence-based definion of "woman".
The men who declare themselves (with no evidence-based justification) as "trans women" rely on EXCLUSIVELY trying to imitate the superficial appearance of ADULT HUMAN FEMALES.
-Men who declare themselves "trans women", take the FEMALE hormone of estrogen, explicitly for the purpose of producing FEMALE traits like breasts, lack of facial hair, typical FEMALE fat distribution, etc.
-Men who declare themselves "trans women" get non-functional, saline implants, explicitly to imitate the superficial appearance of the functional breasts of an ADULT HUMAN FEMALE.
-Men who declare themselves"trans women" often get their penis surgically mutilated, for the sole purpose of (trying to) making it cosmetically resemble the functional, working vagina of an ADULT HUMAN FEMALE.
-When men who declare themselves "trans women" have visible traits that AREN'T displayed by adult human females, like facial hair, or chest hair, etc, they try to either hide or remove those traits, explicitly trying to maintain the illusion of being an ADULT HUMAN FEMALE...
-men who declare themselves "trans women" refer to this as "passing"... But what are they trying to "pass" themeelves off AS, specifically? Most of them will ADMIT the blatantly obvious- That they're trying to "pass" as ADULT HUMAN FEMALES...
These men may PRETEND they define the word "woman" in some other, spooky, mystical, pseudo-religious sense that can't possibly be reduced to actual physical evidence... But their BEHAVIOUR proves that the men who self-ID as "trans women", MORE THAN ANYONE, define "woman" strictly, exclusively as "adult human female"
If these men AREN'T trying to imitate ADULT HUMAN FEMALES, then what's the purpose of their constant authoritarian demands to control the language of non-believers, to enforce the pronouns we use for ADULT HUMAN FEMALES, and to grant these men the special privileges, to violate the privacy, dignity and safety of (actual, evidence-based) women and girls, in spaces/groups exclusively for ADULT HUMAN FEMALES?
Or is that just for the sake of being intolerant religious authoritarians, and of forcing their evidence-free, faith-based dogma onto non-believers?

Yet another demeaning view of a very vulnerable section of society that totally ignores the fact that the phenomenon of transsexual/transgender exists as a neurological & physiologically existential condition. No one is suggesting that trans women are female but gender dysphoria is a poor descriptor of what is an existential neurological condition ( it is not that trans women believe that they are female (necessarily) but that there is a miss match between their physical self & their existential awareness of self, this is a neurological condition, that does not relate to how some undertand it ie, that gender cannot be seperate from sex & that trans women can never be women. People who say this cannot grasp the fact that the word woman/man alignes with gender just as much as it does biological sex so sex & gender are aspects of the same thing but are also seperate. Thus the treatment for this existential phenomenon cannot be & is not solely about outward expression (where some surgeries/medication play a role) but also to alleviate the existential angst of existing in a body that does not match one's concious existential self. The general understanding from decades of research is that you cannot merely treat this condition (in every case) merely through psychotherapy in order to convert or correct someone's psyche & since mainstream society only recognises the concensus of the majority in terms of biology & biological expression, those trans people that need to fit into that narrative (the binary) go through these treatments in order to (as much as possible) align themselves with what is socially seen as being a woman & through hormone treatment & surgery becoming as close as possible to female despite the clear understanding that they're not. Also trying to segregate trans women from female spaces using the biological essentialism viewpoint just makes any and all transitional treatment pointless causing even more mental health issues for trans women.
