You mentioned that you'll check "Far over the Misty Mountains cold". Well, after that there's another video from the SECOND Hobbit movie, "I see fire". Same costumes, makeups (yes, it's always just Geoff, all the characters), same Dwarves, but heck, is it different. 🙂
Geoff and Tim Foust (Home Free) are friends, Tim taught Geoff some growl techniques, although Geoff doesn't feel very comfortable with growl and prefers to use subharmonics to hit the lowest notes. Actually, Voiceplay and Home Free interacted in several occasions, and as I said they're friends and deeply respect each other. 🙂
    See you next time!

This is my favorite Geoff video/song. It is my go to lullaby. Not because it's boring. Just the opposite. Plus his voice on everything he sings is amazing.
In "Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold" he portrays 4 of the 13 dwarves in the Hobbit movies. Thorin, Bofur, Killi and Filli.
Several months ago he brought them back for "I See Fire" from Hobbit 2.
But no matter what video you watch you won't be disappointed. This man is extremely talented. With a 5+ octave range.
Welcome to the Geoff Castellucci rabbit hole 🐰

He did a great job on Misty mountains cold, and I believe it remains his most viewed video. But in the past year he also recorded I See Fire from the desolation of Smaug, and I have always preferred it to Misty mountains.

Like I will say, I have been a bass singer for over 30 years and have never seen anyone else as versatile as Geoff. He is artistic in everything he does and his musical arrangements are some of the best I have ever heard.

Yes you got it right. His name. And yes he's the bass for VoicePlay. You need to know that Geoff is doing all the voices and the musical backing himself. This is what he does, as well as the arrnagemts of course. And the filming. And the editing. He's a one man sensation. With a little help from his friends. :)

The Game of Thrones series music has inspired some great genre-transcending covers!
German guitarist Hans Platz (from the humorous medieval metal band Feuerschwanz (Fire Tail, pronounced foy-air-shvantz) has metal covers (feat. violin & harp) of Rains of Castamere, Dance of Dragons and Flight of Dragons on his channel. Those led, via a small detour, to the founding of the multi national symphonic metal supergroup The Dark Side Of the Moon, which debuted with a cover of Jenny Of Oldstones (Napalm Records signed them just based on a demo of that song).

Since you like Game of Thrones covers, Tomi P did a lovely cover of Jenny of Oldstones a few years ago. He is also a member of The Bass Gang and they worked with Tim Foust on Hooked on a Feeling. Great place to start with them.

It is a goodie - and Geoff likes adding a bridge to the music. If you do Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold (The Hobbit), follow it up with I See Fire, the third Hobbit film - Desolation of Smaug. Tony Wakim you was a baritone in VoicePlay really wanted to do productions so he and Layne (beatboxer) bought a studio, Pattycake Productions and a lot of the settings that both Geoff and VoicePlay do are set in that studio.

Tim taught Geoff how to growl. Geoff doesn't use growls here though; he uses subharmonics which he learned from David Larson. However, Geoff can sing down to an F1 in chest without using any extreme techniques. Also, Geoff was able to sing a C2 in high school and a Bb1 while still a teenager -- that makes him a low bass, even as a teen. A capella basses seem to have a different standard of low, though.
Edit the low subharmonic note in this is a D1.
