@@GuitarGodzUnleashed it is widely known that many of the bands of this era utilized session musicians to cover parts on their records to save time. I’ve read articles where it was stated that CC was one of the guys they were brought in to clean up. I’ve seen him live a few times. He’s always been sloppy.
I'm surprised Slash wasn't on more clips.

Playing guitar at our best is how we always want to be heard but soloing live is a one take deal and sometimes we fuck up! it's just like a race care driver who's always trying to do the fastest lap and sometimes he spins off track and looses control. That's what we guitarists do. We shred our asses off and sometimes our fingers trip over the strings and we fuck up . We're human !
To me, John McLaughlin is a mystery. Till to this day he sounds sloppy on electic guitar, but he is very accurate on acoustic. Usually, it's harder to play acoustic than electic.
The saddest is Eddie Van Halen who was at his lowest point in life with his addictions out of control 😢

2 come to mind, more related to playing out of key. EVH playing jump a step down for the entire song, in greensboro, brutal. Neal schon played almost 30 seconds in the wrong key jammin with 3 or 4 blues masters on midnight special. 😮

Gary Moore was at the end of his life completely out of condition. You could see it in his sections here, which are from one of his last concerts before he died.
Kirk is Always No 1 in that list. He was good when He stole daves parts.
Some of these are sloppy like McLaughlins bends and kirk hammett but im not sure if youre not confusing sloppiness with intentional chromatisism on some of these
McLaughlins picking sounds sloppy as hell at faster speeds in this performance imo. No excuse. It sounds horrible. 🤷 He was way better by the 80’s. 🎸🤘
