What sticks out to me about her speech is why would you feel the need to get your family safe after such a raid? As well as wondering who you can “ trust” , why would you have to trust anyone at this time ? The mistake of prioritizing that over addressing the public or advising your legal counsel of a speech at all. It is also true that some people will be prosecuted for the same crimes that another individual will walk away free from. It is not fair. I get it. Those who have experienced this, get it. It happens, but we can't be blinded by that history, and that shouldn't be used as a reason to avoid the consequences of our own actions. There's alot we don't know about this situation, and not every case is the same as the last. Let's wait and see.

The message I interpreted from Mayor Sheng Thao's speech was despite the disadvantages and adverse experiences, she worked harder than most to overcome the hardships & biasness to reach a place where she can feel secure about herself and the impacts she made. She was not going to let anyone take that away from her.
The Life Lesson: You can be a Victim of your experiences or persevere and become a Champion of those experiences.
Setting aside the Legal system, I would be disappointed if intentional corruption had occurred. That is still to be determined.
