    How does Kyle sound so good in every possible range?!

    • @daviddotorg

      Because this quartet is actually 3 tenors and a baritone.

      @@daviddotorg Question is... Who's the baritone? Cause Kohl can get up in his range as well, David can, and Theo can too... It's actually just all Tenors

    The red ball is taken from a game created at HU this year called "Ball Canto". Basically, in the game, there are four different colored balls going around, each representing one of the parts, and whenever you have a colored ball, you sing that part, and you pass it around as the song goes.
    In this performance it wasn't an exact science since they only had one ball, but for the most part they gave it to whoever had the post or the melody.

      why does the tenor have a better low range than him?

    • @Hanfgurkenhasser
      @Hanfgurkenhasser Před 6 lety +8

      Not all voices are the same and I suspect Kohl to be a high baritone, so it's possible his low keys just don't have the same resonance as David's. Still quite intruiging to see how they sound in the lower regions.

    Kyle's face every time his brother is being sassy is the best part of the video (aside from Kyle chest-voicing the tenor part at 1:55)

  • @guibox3

    Ha ha ha! That part at 2:23 reminds me of that footage of Elvis and JD Sumner and the Stamps doing 'Rock a My Soul' and Elvis hits that bass note and then JD Sumner jumps in and goes to the bottom end of the spectrum. Elvis grabbed and squeezed his head and everyone was laughing. Many can sing bass but there are only a few that ARE basses. :)

    • @bradleymonroe6443
      @bradleymonroe6443 Před 6 lety +9

      I think this barbershop quartet is pretty much full of tenors. The bass that sings the tenor in chest could be a heldentenor, the baritone may possibly be a spinto tenor, the lead definitely would be a lyric tenor, and the tenor could be a countertenor.

    • @pisslizard01
      @pisslizard01 Před 5 lety +4

      @@bradleymonroe6443 I'm pretty dang sure Kyle's a bass-baritone. If I'm not mistaken he's got a Low D or C. And David's not a countertenor by any means-he's a true tenor, possibly spinto. You're dead-on with Theo (lead): he's a textbook lyric tenor. I'd be willing to argue Kohl (bari) is a lyric as well.

    Crazy. When growing up in Mishawaka, I can recall hearing the Doctors Of Harmony (1947 champs) . I was singing in Mass. when the Boston Common won a string of medals but never the right color. I was singing in Cincy when Interstate Rivals won, and later Marquis! But maybe I should have stayed in Mishawaka so I could swap parts with Instant Classic!
