Fresh and Error designs are based off of their Lucidia designs in Underverse while making them their Undertale multiverse (or the Underverse) counterparts. I think it's weird because Lucidia isn't Undertale related but I'm not going to hate on it.

@@jeuniverse8460 its because CQ went all the way on asking Toby if it was okay if she used her Sanses in Lucidia, and Toby said she could, but it would be better if they werent so similiar to original Sans, so she changed Fresh and Error's designs, and I think she thought it would be better to keep them with the new design. and in my opinion, they are way better now. they look way more unique. Ink's outfit was also changed because Myebi/Comyet was accused of taking too much inspiration from an already existing character

I’m sure someone’s already said this but imma say it too. Fatal has a copy & paste ability (that surprisingly was shown in Underverse). He never actually takes anyone out of their timeline, he copies their code and “pastes” it. Effectively making a double of that exact sans of which he proceeds to murder
It's also the big reason why he stops seeing anyone as "real". If he can just clone them, why would they be real to him? After all, their original counterpart still exists, so the clone isn't being missed.
Fun Fact about Killer
The player manipulated Sans code to make him say yes to join them
Which made sans mentality drop and his code to a little wonky
Minor detail that you've missed - Nightmare tends to have henchmen he can call upon, the most common one being Killer Sans. That's why in underverse Killer is always with him and following commands from nightmare. It's also why Killer 'seems' to just randomly appear out of nowhere. If you know the henchman stuff then Killer's appearance was expected.
the other two most popular henchmen who may or may not appear in Underverse are: Horrortale Sans and Dustale Sans. These four characters (Nightmare, Killer, Horror and Dust) are usualy the 'bad guys' in quite a lot of multiverse stories.
I also love reading the 'Nightmare and his henchmen' crack stuff as they are hilarious, they give major mha league of villains vibes. I especially love the 'Nightmare as the mom of the group' stuff
This is incorrect, Nightmare does not have any other 'henchmen' than Killer. The Bad guys gang with Horror and Dust is entirely fandom.

As someone who was 8-9 at the height of Undertale’s popularity and have followed pretty much everything closely regarding it since, I can safely say I know way too much about fanmade AUs. I used to spend pretty much entire days just watching comic fandubs, watching animations, and playing bad roblox undertale RPG games.

I grew up with it in my early teens and for me I spent years man. Years. Making fanfics starting comics creating au's and then school and life got rough and I dropped all hobbi3s things finally calmed down and it's kind of odd how I always come back to it undertale and the large communities it formed spanning over all kind of different platforms and media creating so many different universes some that are questionable, but it's so amazing to come back after years and still see my favorite creators continuing to make undertale content after so long
i actually find interesting the fact that fatal error went for cross, because technically cross is a swap variant
because fatal error takes code from others to create his original papyrus right?

And I’m still so amazed by the fandom and just how all these people were able to create a coherent multiverse canon like the outcode characters in particular being referenced in other works outside their own so recognizable and with such strong personalities like that’s just normal
It’s super beautiful like once you create your own alternate universe you’re instantly included in this greater story that involves your characters and you as a creator like I don’t think any other fandom could do it like undertale

So there's a new episode of Underverse now and it actually had a few tiny pieces of lore. One is that apparently only versions of Sans who have experienced and remember a genocide run are able to see what happened to alternate timeline versions of themselves? I don't know why that's a necessary plot point but hey it's a thing. The other one is that Ink is apparently not able to feel physical pain I think.
Also you know when I said that the idea of multiple multiverses won't come up again? Yeah I was wrong.
That makes me wonder, how did fresh's infection on ink affect him if he isn't affected by physical pain
pain would be part of the emotions that ink emulates with his vials, and so he just, doesnt get a pain vial, so he doesnt feel pain because of that.

Ink is a soulless being only feeling emotions and expressing them through his viles. And he gets those emotions and stuff from people's creativity and creation. It even shows worrying about that when he was asked. Even dream can feel emotions within ink when he is on his viles so he can feel pain or at least he shows he can. I mean he got a good taste of x gasters creation xD

Question, is Jakei's interpretation of Fatal_Error canon to your comic? If so, when would it take place? And if not, how many Fatal_Errors are there running around?
As someone who was part of this fandom from the very beginning, it is amazing to see how many people took the AUs and ran with it. To this very day AUs are being made of Undertale. I would like to think that I am very well traversed in the fandom, and I still haven't seen everything! Fatal was something I had never seen before Underverse! I guess I'm just happy to see that there are still other AUs out there to explore and discover.
Bro I almost never watch videos like this and find everything to be correct. I'm one of those people who walked into Underverse already knowing everything and more so I don't have the perspective of the people who were confused so this video may not have been for me but I absolutely enjoyed it nonetheless. You explained everything fantastic! Honestly the only thing I can really think of not being mentioned is some of the stuff with Epic and Cross, especially their AUs interacting. Though it's small and just funny side stuff, 0.6 sort of implied some of it may have actually happened? But really that's just such a minor thing, I just love this so much adfgsfdghsfg
Oh! A fun fact as well, Fatal_Error's comic started long before people knew Error was Geno, which made more sense at the time. Error being Geno certainly complicated a lot of stories, though it's impossible to be an UTMV fan without loving some complexity lmao

That being said, don't trust your comments about said Dreamtale lore though, I already saw someone tell you something incorrect LOL
God, outcode characters are fun. I actually made one myself! Kinda... it's a bit more funky than just that, but yeah, that is very much a thing I did.
Also (and I'm also going off of personal assumptions here just like you), Killer technically still belongs to the "Something New" timeline, so he isn't _quite_ an outcode character, just one that happens to eff around and find out a lot all over the multiverse. Technically, any character from any AU or AT can become a multiversal traveler if given the proper push (read: if someone from another world or an outcode character pulls them out of their native world), Underverse season 1 was basically all about that with the different Sanses teaming up. To be an outcode, you have to not exactly belong to _any_ timeline or universe that exists in the Undertale multiverse. This part is why my personal possible outcode is so complicated to talk about, but feel free to ask if you're curious.
I get the feeling you wanted to explain your potential Outcode character to someone. Personally, I doubt I'm the best candidate in terms of familiarity with the concept, and I'm often fairly low on free time to reply with, but if you still want to share your ideas, I'd be more than happy to read what you have to say and at least offer some sort of response. If I've misinterpreted, though, it's no biggie. I merely figured I'd offer just in case. Either way, I hope you're doing well!

@@cami_sushi Okay, so the weird thing about this character of mine is that his universe/timeline of origin doesn't really exist? Like, it's not that it was _destroyed_ like with Abyss Sans, it's basically a simulation of sorts. And he was able to be brought out of that simulation and into reality (the actual Undertale multiverse) because his creator is this ultra god-tier entity with the souls of every monster _and_ every human from his whole world inside of him. Apparently this being's a lot like Inverted Fate Asriel with that, but seeing as I don't entirely follow Inverted Fate, I'm not too sure about it.
Either way, that's basically what makes him so weird as an outcode. He _has_ a universe of origin, it's just not an actual thing that exists.

That's a really clever take on the idea! I'd love to see how such an origin would influence their personality and motivations as an outcode character, or how they would interact with the world around them as a reault of that.
@@tropichawk850 Well, one thing I didn't mention here is that's he's also a Dusttale take... Specifically, this being (who I'll just say, yeah, it's an alternate version of god Asriel) was curious about the logical conclusion of Dusttale and all its continuations like DustDust and such, so he simulated a _literally_ infinite loop of all that. When said logical conclusion was reached and the human was taken down, he was originally ecstatic... but then started breaking down over what he had to do to stop them. It then led to him briefly hijacking Asriel's power to bring himself into reality, and now he's just kinda chilling there. He technically has no regrets over what he's done, especially now that he knows that none of it was real in the first place, but it still leads him to 1) really not like hypocrisy, since it reminds him of how much of a hypocrite he himself was, becoming a serial killer to try and stop one, and 2) actively reject Core!Frisk's invitation to the Omega Timeline due to not feeling like he'd belong there. He wouldn't ever join the bad guys, but doesn't feel at place with the good guys either.

Y'know,I've been making this whole ass undertale au Everytime I try to sleep so im just gonna shoot out some of the ideas about it I've made,
So, basically,the timeline is like a tree,theirs the core timeline/classic, branches/alternate timelines,and help_tale wich is basically an amalgam of forgotten or abandoned branch timelines that fall from the tree
That's all I'm really gonna say rn,it's kinda undercooked an account of me making it up while I try to go to bed

My Gaster theory when it comes to the multiverse is that the different fragments of Gaster became new versions of him in the various different AUs and ATs,i think this makes the most sense as Gaster tends to be the one who is the most aware of all the multiversal witchcraft that goes on around him and the other characters...

Me starting engaging in undertale through underverse. I had to go through lot of videos, lores and aus to understand what the heck is happening in underverse
this is SO helpful, out of all the undertale fan works theres mostly 2 i intend to read/watch, this underverse and alphatale (hence the read part), this video has solved 1 of my problems in this so i can understand more of underverse (alr knew a decent amount, like us, uf, ink and error, aftertale, but this taught me a lot bout other aus def will check out some of them when i get done with uv and alphatale)
also side note incase anyone was curious: the errors are my fav sans' and if i had to pick 1 itd be 404 cuz i like his design and theme song

Always admire research to all AUs
This is so good. It's exactly what I've been looking for ever since watching SuperEyepatchWolf's video. I did have a few follow-up questions, though.
First, do you think it's important to experience all the other AUs you've listed exclusively prior to Crossverse? Or would it be possible to experience them the same way it appears your fanedit is set up, with the other AUs being experienced when their respective elements are being sown into Crossverse's narrative?
Second, what AUs are part of Fatal Error that aren't listed on the document? I'd love to check those out as well, for the sake of being needlessly comprehensive. Undernovela too, actually, but I could probably find that one myself.
Third, are there any videos or webpages you feel are good sources for all of Undertale's secrets and the like[?] At some point I also want to introduce someone who likes going through these things with me to Undertale then Crossverse, and everything necessary to bridge the gap between the two. However, there are so many smaller details within Undertale that I might forget to show them that it'd be helpful to have a single place with, or at least listing, all of it.
Fourth, in spite of the efforts made to future proof this video, if it ends up not being future-proofed enough, would you be willing to return to it with updates or addendums?
Lastly, do you have any other AUs or the like that you really enjoy and would recommend?

Glad you find this helpful! I'll try to answer your questions as best as I can.
1. If you or someone you know do want to fully experience all of the AUs, then yes, I personally would recommend experiencing them before watching Underverse/XTale. The story of Underverse can get confusing, so trying to insert knowledge of more and more AUs while you're in the middle of it could make it even harder to remember exactly what's going on (though that could depend on the person watching it). Plus, I think it's more fun to keep people on their toes about exactly when each of the AU characters is going to show up.
2. I'm pretty sure the only other AUs that show up in A Fatal Error Has Occurred are called Naturetale and Naturefell. I don't know anything about them or even who made them, but I'm pretty sure that's what they're called.
3. I don't know of any one place with all of the secrets off the top of my head. The closest thing I can think of is that I know that Merg did a few videos on Undertale's secrets way back in the day called "Undertale Remembers", "Undertale Secrets", and "Undertale Gaster Secrets". It's been a really long time since I've watched them though so I don't remember how comprehensive they are, but that would probably be a good place to start. If you're planning on also going through Deltarune with this other person before getting into the Undertale fan-made stuff, another video I would recommend is "Who is Dr. Gaster and Why That Matters to Deltarune" by Misty Sparkles, it's very comprehensive as far as Gaster stuff goes, and also very entertaining.
4. If I somehow missed enough stuff that I could make a full extra video on it, then yeah! Otherwise, I'll just end up putting details that I missed in like a pinned comment on this video or something.
5. I haven't really gotten into the AUs besides with stuff related to Underverse, so the only other one I can think of is Glitchtale.
6. I'm not sure what Endless Route is so I can't help you there lol

In any case, I hadn't considered the fun factor exclusive to going through the relative AUs before Crossverse. That's a very good point, and something that feels integral to the experience.
I see. It definitely looks like Naturetale & Naturefell are aesthetic alterations first and foremost. I also can't find original AUs for them. Still, I appreciate you letting me know about them.

Endless Route is the prequel to Epic Tale that covers Neutral!Frisk's backstory. ...at least, that's what it sounds like.
Also, I do have one new question: After which video in your fanedit playlist is it recommended to read XTale 21 Years? Episode 7?

I have gone back and forth on this a bit, but I think it would make the most sense to experience Deltarune right after Undertale. Underverse never directly requires knowledge of Deltarune to understand its story, but there are a few background references to it.
Oh right, I forgot about that comic. Well in that case, yes, it takes place before Epictale. I'm pretty sure it was never finished though.
Yes, 21 Years could come at any point after episode 7 of the fan edit (thanks for checking that out by the way). Since it's not finished yet and really isn't that important to the overall story so far, I think it could really come at any point after that without changing the experience too much. If you want to read it before watching the end of Timeline X though and you're using my edit, I would actually recommend reading it after episode 8, because I really like the transition between how 7 ends and how 8 starts.

Okay, so you suggest going through Undertale first. Then Deltarune. Followed by the AUs. And then capping it off with Crossverse. Got it. Thank you especially for letting me know that Deltarune *does* get referenced in Crossverse. I've experienced Chapter One of Deltarune, but decided it would be worth it to wait for the rest of the game before progressing further. I may need to reconsider that idea since I want to understand all the references in Underverse.
I see. So Endless Route > OG Epictale > Modern Epictale. Got it! A lot of these AUs- Oh, I hope it's okay that I keep using that as an umbrella term for ease's sake despite it being somewhat innacurate. Anywho, a lot of these AUs aren't fully finished yet, so it's no biggie.
Alright. The last question of chronology answered: 21 Years comes post Episode 8, NOT post Episode 7. Understood. Also, I love multimedia merging fanedits like yours, so it's no problem. That interest is probably the main reason I'm also interested in exploring all of Crossverse, to be honest. I actually have one of my own fanedits in the works for the full FFXV expanded universe. Anyway, yeah, I'm excited to see that episodic transition you like.
Oh, but, as an addendum, I very briefly checked out some episode descriptions in your fanedit to see if they mentioned the best time to read 21 Years. There's one that says it cuts to the comic a lot. Do you plan to eventually add Crossverse music to that episode to fill the silence?
Also, since you're okay with it, I do have another question, but there's a bit of legwork involved in getting there. So, I made copies of your guides, merged them together, and after reading the combined text, have been editing and minimalizing them exclusively for my own intended experience with all of this content. I hope that's alright.
I wanted to avoid wikis and askblogs, so I've been looking for and using fangames and fancomics to fill those spots where I can. Although I have been skimming those wikis and askblogs first just to be safe. While also, ironically, trying to avoid any potential spoilers I might not already know.
Either way, I'm going through Ask Error right now, separating the stories not made in a traditional askblog style whenever I reach them so I can link directly to them from my edited copy of your merged documents. (That's a mouthful.) With all of that setup out of the way, my question is: Do you know the chronological order those Ask Error stories occur in? Especially relative to Aftertale, Margin of Error, and Fatal Error?
@@tropichawk850 Yeah, I'll just clarify that any time Underverse references Deltarune it's VERY in the background, you might not even notice it. Also just to clarify, my edit isn't completely in chronological order, but yes after episode 8 would probably be the best place to read 21 Years. In fact, I think I'll add that to the guide now that I think about it lol
As for adding sound to the parts of the edit that are currently silent, I actually have commissioned someone to add sound effects, and once they're finished I'll add various NyxTheShield soundtracks to it as well. The person doing the sfx is in school so their work has been slow, but steady. I have no idea when it will be done though, but I'll update the edit as soon as it is.
I'm totally cool with you using my guide to make your own guide and edit! In fact, I would love to see it once it's done! I honestly have no idea about the chronology of the stories from the Ask Error blog though. You may have to do some research of your own to find if Crayon Queen ever clarified that. I can tell you that all of Ask Error has to take place after all of Aftertale, but I'm not sure about the rest. Especially when you're trying to reconcile it with A Fatal Error Has Occurred, cause that comic throws a giant wrench into trying to figure out the chronology of anything lol. Though I guess it's possible that some of those things will be clarified in the next episode of Underverse, which is coming out soon, hopefully sometime this month. Margin of Error is... really weird and is where trying to rationalize every single fanwork to be canon to each other becomes kind of difficult. As far as I can tell, it is trying to tell an alternate origin story for Error that is not consistent with the original creator's ideas and is more of a weird time-loop-y thing? And that leads to questions like "is it possible for alternate timelines of events that don't take place in a specific universe to exist?? Or is there a point where we have to stop trying to make every single one of these stories canon to each other?" And I honestly don't have an answer for you there.

It's crazy to think that I used to be so madly in love with Undertale that I already knew absolutely everything that was said in this video and on top of that, without having consumed all the original content, Epic Tale for example, I don't even remember how I know, because I didn't read the comic.
