I'm about to buy the little Vox StompLab IIG thing as I'm not working anymore & have got to stretch me benefits,,, The COSM engine in me Boss BR600 is perfect & I've put many hours collating a hundred user patches that are the basis of my tone library in studio. BUT; I don't like that I'm putting so many hours on the recording device just to practice like you do with headphones, but am not recording anything, just using the awesome COSM engine for practice and stuff. As I said, I'll use the internals of the BR-600 recording device for recording my guitar sounds (apart from the ones where I use real amps and mics), I just want something to dick around with. I could get the Vox for £70. Do you think I should save the extra, do you think it's really worth it for me personally? Appreciate your thoughts, good luck with it all, stay healthy, blessings from the locked-down UK
@@Tiago_007 Cor, I tell you what... I bought the lil' Vox stomplab IIG off of amazon (my 1st ever online purchase, ever!) a couple of weeks ago and its brilliant; far exceeded my expectations. Only got it as a toy, but, it is in fact up to snuff, & am already recording with it. Its a bloody weird layout, but, there is devil in the details, & it has so many cool quirks, for the money, every guitarist should have one. Made in Japan, surprised me. I still might get the GT-1, but probably not - it's not too much extra for the ME-80 & I think that is a much better piece The Vox has a lot of character, can't praise it highly enough. It doesn't SOUND like £78... Anyway, hope you and yours are healthy in these crazy times. regards, UK

I'm buying a Boss GT-1 so I've been watching a bunch of videos about the product. Dagan's demo and his entertaining presentation style is the best of all the GT-1 demos I've watched. 👍
32 sec loop is more than enough time to get a riff and practice a solo over it or whatever youd like. You can also sync multiple loops over your original loop. Love this thing.
@@KhaosWarrior6662 There's a Triple Rec, a Core Metal, 5150, and Bogner in it plus distortions so I'm sure you could. I don't know exactly the tone of metal core though. I think a good un-colored solid state amp, there are amps designed for things like the GT-1 too.
I paired mine up with a Boss FS-7 footswitch to give me a couple more CTL buttons. This makes it even more flexible. You can do a lot with this unit, especially considering the price. I tried a friend's Helix, and I actually preferred the effects in the GT-1.

You'll be amazed. If you ever have any questions and I am able to help (I am still a bit new) you can contact me on my channel. I'd love to help! This pedal is insane. I use it direct into interface. Once you set it to line headphones its perfect that route. Or plug into amp anything. Its set up to be able to be assigned to what ever you have to use as output. The amps and tones you can create are Insane!! I hope you like it as much as I do!! Its taught me so much. The looper brings the creativity to the front!! Enjoy!
The only issue which I can overcome with some tweaking, it seems there is way too much treble on some of the settings, so perhaps an equalizer pedal and or changing tone settings on the amp.
I love mine. It also functions as a USB audio interface, although you need its specific drivers. I'm pretty sure there's also a Keith Richards easter egg inside... ;)
I've owned one for a few years, if you make your own patches and don't pay attention to the name of the amp or distortion pedals but trust your ears it can sound great! At times it can be a bit fizzy so you need to work at it a bit to avoid that. I made a few single coil patches and I have humbucker guitar using it's tone mod (forget the name) that allows you to select a hum to single, single to hum and more. I record a lot using it and prefer the tones to Amplitube 5 which I have, usually I mix the two to get what i want. Any how, great pedal great value.

And the preamps are so good that if I have to I can dial each in with many regular amp settings such as bass mid treble pres and etc. So many dang options. Hahaha. Boss is NO JOKE. I can't wait to upgrade to a stereo in interface or 4i4 etc.

This guy , Dagan , I believe his name is , is a great presenter and I saw that he did the demo video for this pedal and I skipped all the others just to watch his presentation. Great energy. I just got a Katana Artist and will set up the GT1 for volume and wah pedal primarily. The Katana has plenty of effects but there will be places the GT1 will fit in. Not sure if will go in the effects loop or into the front. Seems like it would work either way for volume and wah? Will be fun to play around with. Trying different things is part of the fun.

I have one, and I like what it does, but the foot pedal is too small for my foot (or my foot is too big for the pedal). It's okay for some volume control, but for serious pedal work, you need to plug in an external pedal.
i have boss gt-1 connected to my computer via usb.. i run the Boss Tone Studio for GT-1 application. In the connections, I select the Midi In Midi Out and Audio In and Audio Out options, all for GT-1 .. I click connect and after a few seconds the window returns to select the connection option for Midi In ,Out and Audio In ,Out .. and so same thing over and over... why?
Looks like I struck gold as I ordered this pedal today coupled with the blackstar ID Core 100 from PMT Newcastle. Picked up the amp today and it’s mint, the pedal is turning up this week. So buzzed!

Sounds good, I tried the fx-loop in stereo and direct into the amp, at low volumes they’re both good but atm I’m just using the mono fx loop and matching it with the input setting of the gt1- bit more experimenting needed. Just started to edit a patch - it’s got gain for days - the wah pedal doesn’t have an off when u press it so I’ve assigned two matching patches side by side one wah on one off. It’s powerful enough to move the modules to different orders - at this price point thats unheard of in my book.
How's this pedal perform in the effects loop? If I were wanting to use reverb, delay etc with the amp's built in drive channel? I bought the Zoom G3XN and I hate it. Noisy as hell. Returning it and I might get the Boss unit.

question could I use a Roland EV5 expression pedal to control a cry baby [for example]. i usually sit when I play and like the unit close so an external expression pedal would work well for me on the floor. In the manual it only mentions Boss fs7 &6.

8:39 I always thought it was weird the tuner didn't use red on left and right for wrong then blue center for tuned. This replaced my GT100 though and is so much easier to lug around as a busy gigging musician.
I had this little beast for almost 2 years and I'm still in love with it. Once you get the hang of it and start making your own patches you'll see it's true potential, plus they'll sound way better than the pre installed patches. Whether it's hooked up through the front of my amp's clean channel, to my headphones or connected to my 5 watt portable JBL speaker (GT-1 + small portable speaker = the ultimate fly rig) this thing kicks major ass. You can even use it as an audio interface to record with your DAW of choice. For its price othing compares to the GT-1 in quality, build and value for money 🤘. EDIT: I also want to add when creating patches, add and use the GT-1's parametric EQ in you chain. It will take your tones to another level.
@@-RoB-1101 I use my amps clean channel front input, not the fx loop. I have my amps clean channel bass mid and treble set at 12 o'clock and reverb off. All eq and effects are from the GT-1. Also after some experimenting I found that I get best quality output setting the GT-1's output to JC 120 Return so I suggest also trying all output setting. I have my amps master volume set at about 12 o'clock and use the Gt-1 output volume to control my overall volume output from my amp. If you have any more questions let me know.
Excellent review!!! MYlast hundred or so vids have been all thanks to the Boss GT1 and its looper. It has taught me so much and the tones are top notch. There is NOTHING beginner about this unit. I have yet to even mess with the tone studio. The preamps are seriously incredible. I run mine direct Into reaper via scarlet solo ....The sky is the limit. Add the free vst supermassive by Valhalla ...heaven.

@@robertclarkguitar I was just pointing out that you already have an audio interface inside the GT-1. No need to connect it through the Scarlet. Setting up Reaper for the GT-1 is no different than setting it up for the Scarlet.

That's how I used mine for the first few months. Plugged my 2.1 klipsche promedia speakers directly into headphone out. Amazing tone.

Whether it's hooked up through the front of my amp's clean channel, to my headphones or connected to my 5 watt portable JBL speaker (GT-1 + small portable speaker = the ultimate fly rig) this thing kicks major ass. You can even use it as an audio interface to record with your DAW of choice. For its price othing compares to the GT-1 in quality, build and value for money 🤘.
EDIT: I also want to add when creating patches, add and use the GT-1's parametric EQ in you chain. It will take your tones to another level.
What amp do yaou have? Do you use it using the effects loop or from the front imput?
@@-RoB-1101 I use my amps clean channel front input, not the fx loop. I have my amps clean channel bass mid and treble set at 12 o'clock and reverb off. All eq and effects are from the GT-1. Also after some experimenting I found that I get best quality output setting the GT-1's output to JC 120 Return so I suggest also trying all output setting. I have my amps master volume set at about 12 o'clock and use the Gt-1 output volume to control my overall volume output from my amp. If you have any more questions let me know.
Do you activate the preamp whenever you use it in the input of the an amp?

Excellent review!!! MYlast hundred or so vids have been all thanks to the Boss GT1 and its looper. It has taught me so much and the tones are top notch. There is NOTHING beginner about this unit. I have yet to even mess with the tone studio. The preamps are seriously incredible. I run mine direct Into reaper via scarlet solo ....The sky is the limit. Add the free vst supermassive by Valhalla ...heaven.
Own it but the new gt 1000 core got my interest.
May I ask why through the Scarlet since the GT-1 is also an audio interface?
@@DarkSideofSynth I have not got a usb wire. Hahahah. Plus I use reaper and this way I'm just used to using DAW this way. I'm certainly not denying the usb is probably best . .

@@robertclarkguitar I was just pointing out that you already have an audio interface inside the GT-1. No need to connect it through the Scarlet. Setting up Reaper for the GT-1 is no different than setting it up for the Scarlet.
Does it have drum track/metronome feature for practicing one's chops?
