Real spill straight from the horses mouth: “A buddy of mine was a vegetarian” says Claypool. “Whenever he would fall off the wagon, he would say, ‘Oh, I’m going to go shake hands with beef.’ So it sort of became this metaphor for deviating from the norm.”

Primus is so unique that back at the beginning of the MP3 the people who were in charge of the ID3 data tagging format, with categories for song name, artist, track number, genre, etc., decided that “Primus” would be one of the genre categories along with rock, country, pop, blues, and the rest. “Primus” was an official genre selection, because they didn’t fit into any other. Hehe

This is the perfect time to check out Buckethead . I see Brian " brain " Mantia is the drummer in this video who also played with Buckethead in the group Praxis with Bootsy Collins and introduced Les Claypool to Buckethead also also had a band called Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains.
Long story short Brain is an awesome drummer, check out some Buckethead homeboy!

When you said “where the hell have I been” I feel so bad, glad people are giving these bands a try and enjoying them. Liking hip hop and all that is fine but I feel like most people have a very narrow understanding of how much variety rock has until they’ve heard some of it. Then they’re like damn I didn’t know music this complex or creative or weird or chill, even existed. Seeing people get into tool, primus, Pink Floyd, rush, zeppelin, and be like damn this shits good why have I never heard of these people, really shows how people need to be more open minded about rock music, it’s not all depressing, fast down strumming with screaming vocals, it can be funny, and chill, and deep, or just fun and interesting.

@nynetynyne heeee heeeee, I was learning drums at the time, we were all into Primus and Mr bungle, one afternoon during lunch hour at school we were allowed to play in the music room, but decided to lock ourselves in and just jam, so when lunch was over and school resumed we didn't give a flying fuck, we just turned everything up and continued, they were banging on the doors, but we thought, let's give our high school a free show, blazing loud, and they simply couldn't stop us, it was so beautiful and nasty and loud, we knew we would get in trouble eventually but pleaded, "ohh we didn't know, we were in the groove, in the moment, huh and the whole fucking school had to hear us trying to play Primus songs, I still laugh till this day....who? Us? We didn't know! Huh haaaaa

You could rinse the life from that album whilst discovering some amazing stuff at the same time. There’s about 8 tracks on thar Brown album that couldn’t fail to get those shoulders moving.
Kalamazoo, Dutches and the Proverbial, The chastising of Renegade and Golden boy are personal faves that are well worth a listen, here or on your headphones during the night shift.
    Keep em coming

Dig the Honey I shrunk the Kids reference. I was right there with you! You ought to check out the other projects that feature Les Claypool.
The band Colonel Claypool’s Bucket of Bernie Brains is a super group. Brain is the drummer for this Primus album, and the drummer the group I’m mentioning. Of course Les is on bass and vocals. Bernie Worrell(keyboard player for Parliament Funkadelic) plays keyboard and organ. Lastly, one of the greatest guitar players in the world, Buckethead, is on guitar. So you can see where the name of the band comes from.... Les Claypool, Buckethead, Bernie Worrell, Brain= Colonel Claypool’s Bucket of Bernie Brains. I will suggest two tracks.... one is an instrumental, the other has lyrics.
The instrumental is called Scott Taylor.
The one with lyrics is called Junior, and it is about George Bush Jr. during his presidency.
