  • In the video, I talk about the visa process you need to go through as an American looking to get an au pair visa in France. In this video I cover the steps of applying for an initial visa. In a future video, I will talk about the experience of renewing my visa in France.
    Actual contract you NEED for the au pair visa appointment:
    www.service-public.fr/particu...
    Additional au pair contract I recommend filling out with your family:
    france-visas.gouv.fr/document...

    Hi Jessica! I just want to say thank you so much for making these videos. I've lived with a couple of host family's in France through exchanges, but never as an Au Pair. I would really like to Au Pair in France this summer (if travel restrictions are lifted by then... fingers crossed) and I'm definitely taking notes! I know in a different video you had mentioned your family got back to you pretty quick, and you ended up meeting them in DC before going to France... but do you have a ballpark guess on how long it typically takes a family to reply to you/to match with a family? As I mentioned, I'm looking to go in May, so I'm unsure if it's too early or not? Thank you!

      Sorry to be responding so late!! I think the earlier the better. For me it was a fast process both times but I was lucky! Good luck on your journey and let me know if you have any more questions :)

    Hello Jessica your video is very informative. I am in the process of getting my visa and I was wondering if I still have to get a physical check up clearance before I go to France. I saw on different videos that I need my doctor to sign the medical certificate. Did you do that ?
    Thank you 😊

    Hii did you have to purchase your flight to france before applying for the visa ??? I heard someone say this and I just want to know if it’s true bc it does not make sense to me. What if you purchase your flight then apply for the visa and don’t even get approved or it doesn’t come in before your flight

    Did you have to get your contract stamped orignally by the DDTEFP and did you have to fed ex it france and back to America? Just to get the original signatures
    Or you just signed that extra document just for signing it. I am freaking out

    Hi Jessica, through the application process at what point are you able to schedule your appointment at the consulate. The VFS website is so confusing! Are the forms you discussed supposed to be submitted online in order to get the appointment to begin with, if so how to do navigate the website?

    I am about to go back to reapply for my visa because my host family and I forgot to fill out my tasks and hours a week working and my initial visa got rejected. Cannot overstate the importance of making sure EVERYTHING is filled out.

    Hi I was wondering if the Consulate ever asked you for a copy of a clear criminal record for your visa? Just wanted to know if it’s necessary to have before spending money to obtain it for nothing

    Hey Jessica! Thanks for the video, super informative. Many people say that you also need to provide “proof of funds” for your trip. I was wandering whether this was the case for you? And if so, did the money have to have been in the bank account for a certain period of time? Thanks a lot!!

    • @jessicaabroad1391
      @jessicaabroad1391  Před 2 lety +2

      That might be for a different visa type or perhaps a different country. I didn’t have to have any proof of funds

      @@jeremiahgonzales4890 Sup mate! I’ve done quite a bit of digging, which gave me a lot of clarity. As of 2019, you only need to enroll in a French language course if you’re an EU citizen, otherwise it’s not mandatary. Regarding the proof of funds, this is only for people that are applying for a student visa. So if you’re applying for an “au pair visa”, you don’t have to provide any bank statements. I hope that helps!

      @@jonathanshamwana9250 Wow! I appreciate the reply and thoughtful sharing! This is very helpful, regarding both the course enrollment and bank statements. Thanks so much! I am still not sure on the whole motivation letter scenario...isn't the aupair contract pretty clear on it's own basis?😄

    • @jessicaabroad1391
      @jessicaabroad1391  Před 3 lety +2

      You have to buy travel health insurance. If you google travel health insurance you can find a lot of different options. When you buy it the insurance company will send you documents to use as proof of insurance-a letter or a receipt stating your coverage.
