I`m very thankful for your reviews and other videos here on CZcams, Dr. Barkley. One suggestion for improvement: If you include timestamps in the review videos, its easier for viewers to rewatch your comments on a specific paper - that would be helpful.
    Thanks for your time.

It's incredible work that you are doing here in this plataform. i Hope that it's quickly increase the numbers of subscribes. Im a ADHD mom from Brazil, and my son also have ADHD. Here in Brazil we are very late in treatments and clinical pratices. We dont have Stratera or another option of this type of drugs. We have many doctor who really dont belive in ADHD. My 6 years old son Will start to be treat with my own doctor, because the childrens doctors that he has been saw dont take It serious. Pleasse continue to share your knonologe on social media, because If it growing on popular way, may will impact things in another places In the world, rather than resarches are ignored.

RE: Breastfeeding, pure analogy but the women I know who are more physically hyperactive are fed up with it quickly whereas I have pinball-bouncing thoughts trapped in my head presentation and was fine with nursing. I’d lose track of how long more often than being antsy about it. As a SAHM I also didn’t have to deal with the tedium of pumping at work and considering many women with ADHD often wind up in less desirable financial positions or over invested in their work because their job provides interest and novelty I’d assume the steps and supplies involved with pumping would greatly affect continued breastmilk feeding.

Thank you for your continued contributions to educating the rest of us regarding ADHD/therapies. I wish I had some of this info available to me before spending $4k on neurofeedback, years ago, along with hours of time and gas $ I wasted. Of course, it seemed to have immediate, short-lived benefits. I ended up having to go on meds anyway [and sure could have used that $4k right now!].

Thank you. Sorry for that expensive treatment. Hopefully you can find much better care.

How come that since there are specific finding at the eeg about the adhd brain, eeg is not used for diagnosing adhd?

The moment I saw that breast-feeding research, I couldn't help but notice that it came from Korea. It's highly likely that the paper is biased in relation to our misogynistic culture. Another observation is that it was mostly, if not, entirely written by male authors. I wasn’t surprised to see that conclusion drawn out. Like many others in the comments, I'm glad you were critical about it. I can't even think of what else could be linked to the relation of breastfeeding and adhd or asd, because it could be so many things. Or just about anything. When I thought I got used to Korean men blaming women for just about anything, another research paper attempting to do that...

I wonder about infant’s ability to latch as a result of having ADHD. My son did not latch well and it made breast feeding very difficult and ended up leading to supplementation.

The disorder has been shown to result in erratic or poor attachment to parents more than is typical but not in all cases. Infant difficult temperament can play a role as well. But don’t forget that a parent can have the same condition and that also can impact attachment. Be well.

    A preçis....
00:40 short term use of Alpha 2 agonists in children. Promise for ADHD treatment in children, especially for comorbid mood disorders, tics, explosive behaviour, extreme hyperactivity. More work needed in relation to long-term safety.
02:45 research review on digital technologies, Mindfulness, CBT, Yoga, Neurofeedback etc, etc. In general much of the research is superficial and poorly done with a lack of use of control groups / placebo. Positive results may be associated with changes in behaviour, which might not be due to the treatment. This is not to discount the possible effectiveness of some of these techniques (esp CBT and mindfulness) but is a call for better science.
06:30 study on the impact of infant feeding practices on development of ADHD, Autism. Found a general reduction in risk with breastfeeding. Evidence is correlational but no in depth causative work presented. E.g. parents with ADHD may be less likely to breastfeed due to ADHD, and more likely to pass ADHD on due to genetics, hence the correlation, where as the causation is genetic.
09:53 Encepholagram study of children with ADHD in Mongolia. In common with many other studies of it's kind shows under arousal linked with ADHD. Increased slow wave activity detected.

Hi Dr Barkley - I promise I wont repetitively ask you questions(I am talky) - are you able to just give me a "response of opinion", this is nothing assumed to be "diagnosy". Can you tell me why a psych would not expressly link anxiety to adhd in the first instance - lack of noropenephrine and dopamine both cause anxiety - so why would this not be a logical "first assumtion"? I noted he linked depression to adhd, but not aniety - I find this weird, but also not an unusual responce. Also, regarding trauma or adjustment disorder - I believe stress/trauma causes a feedback loop with adhd symptemology - to me this is a no brainer, as adhd being psycho-social, is diagnosed essentially through executive function being affected through stress. This goes to a performance issue at work, and my inability to describe my struggles - I feel that this includes an aspect of skill regression that I have read a little about, but realise that this does not seem to be "science". Are you able to tell me if I am on the right track? Thankyou, Ed

Its god that you are critical of the brestfeeding-study - but I think that you are skipping something much more likely. If the child has ADHD or autism, the child may already at that time have some impairments in patience and motor skills. So the child may have trouble trouble brestfeeding. So the child doesnt get the diagnose from lack of brestfeeding, but lacks breastfeeding as a result of their already-there diagnosis. But I also have another theory. A baby with autism/ADHD may already have sleep-distubency, be very much "more" to handle than other babies. Stressing the mother out. I am talking from exprience here. I gave birth over 2 days, and then I did not have a chance to sleep the next 3 days. How was my body supposed to produce milk? It just didnt. And deciding not to starve my kid, we started giving supplements. I didnt give up breastfeeding, but two months on, I was still very, very sleep deprived and it just wasnt working. I would say that I really, really did try. And yes, my kid has both ADHD and autism. But I would say that he already had that inside my belly. Why doesnt people register how much kids move around in the tommy? Im sure it could tell some differences between some of the kids in the long run. Mine for sure.
