  • Major lake effect snow storm off Lake Erie drops over 7’ of snow just south of Buffalo NY. The Buffalo Bills game was moved to Detroit due to the ongoing State of Emergency. The South Buffalo area saw 42.0” of snowfall over the 3 day event. Watch the event unfold with vivid lightning and THUNDERSNOW as the snowfall keeps piling up followed by a blizzard like squall line with strong winds and blinding snow that swings through to end the event on night 3.

I can’t imagine being in that much snow. The most I ever saw on Long Island years ago was 22” (a veritable flurry by Buffalo’s standards). This video’s a fascinating account and gets a 4-star rating. Great job! 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Wow...excellent coverage of that event. I'm down here in NYC and heard about this snow, but never really understood the scope of things until I saw this video. I forwarded this video to a friend in Brazil who used to live here but had to move back to Sao Paulo. He misses our winter and snow and this video made his day. 👍👍👍

when I was living in Madison Wisconsin in the mid 90s we got over 28 inches of snow in just a few days. it was like this. UW closed for the first time in decades. Lake Monona was frozen solid for the first time ever. I followed a few people out onto the lake waking behind a dualie pick up truck with a camper on it.
We had 25 inches of snow in about 12 hours when i lived in Lansing Michigan. This was after we already had a few inches of snow. There were constant arching of transformers all around. Power went out about 3 am. they opened the mall across the street from where I lived so I just camped there for the day. I checked back in the evening and the power was back. One of the benefits of living behind a mall.
i've lived through a bunch fo them from my years in the French Alps, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin. Blizzard of 77 was the worst. We had over 30 inches in NW Ohio and school was closed for over a week. Being the 70s it was on TV. The news said that schools were closed for the next week by state mandate in certain areas. when school came back on the entire playground was covered in snow from the parking lots.

How can people make it to work in snow this deep? The cars literally disappear overnight sometimes!

IT'S EVEITABLE THAT THOUSANDS WILL BE STRANDED ON HIGHWAYS BLOCKED BY LOUSY TRUCKERS WHO CAN'T SEEM TO KNOW THE WORD SLOW AND JACKKNIFE THEIR RIGS. YOUR GOVERNOR IS ONE OF THE FEW IN AMERICA WHO ACTUALLY CARES FOR HER CITIZENS' SAFETY AND BANNING ALL TRAFFIC ON HIGHWAYS DURING THESE MASSIVE STORMS. NOW ALL DRIVERS CAN STAY SAFE AND WARM WHILE CREWS CLEAN UP ALL HIGHWAYS!!!
