  • KTAADN, by Parsonsfield, is inspired by Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument. It was created as part of Sustain Music and Nature's Songscape program. Songscapes partner bands with public land organizations for a week of outdoors-inspired songwriting. The band creates a song influenced by their experiences and the landscape. Once the song is professionally recorded, it is shared with the world in hopes of bringing new audiences to public lands. Song sales support Sustain, public lands, and bands.
Parsonsfield's song, KTAADN, was written while visiting Katahdin Woods & Waters Recreation Area in northern Maine. The waters you see in the music video are the same that Henry David Thoreau paddled while writing The Maine Woods. Parsonsfield even used Thoreau's spelling in naming their song. These timeless woods and waters were designated a National Monument by Obama a year after our Songscape visit.

Beautiful! A song about "The Greatest Mountain", up there in the pristine wilderness of Baxter State Park! This reminds me of how much I'm dying to go there myself and "touch the sun"!
