  • This is it. This is the most beautiful yacht that I've been aboard thus far in my 30 years of existence.
Marjorie is a serious spirit of tradition cruising boat that also boasts an impressive turn of speed. She has carbon spars, custom all-bronze hardware, and top-quality timber in her hefty cold-molded wood hull. Marjorie also incorporates a layer of Kevlar within her hull layup to protect against collisions. Her interior is expertly crafted out of mahogany and oak, and it took my breath away multiple times throughout this tour.
    What do you think?

Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20's, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we're in our 30's. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. We started out with Somnium, an O'day 272, moved onto Freebie, an Endeavour 32, and now are focusing on sailboat tours and working full time as teachers while we save up for our next boat.

I say this a lot on this channel but that is a truly stunning Yacht that gives up absolutely nothing. Talk about a purpose built elegant home on the water. She's definitely sea worthy and it shows. Her owners have shown her the love a vessel of this caliber deserves, so well maintained. Just truly, truly stunning. I have to wonder how much something like this would cost to have built and commissioned, it has to be way up there? Thanks for the tour and adding yet another vessel to dream about...

Cold molded boats are my favorite. Lots of the benefits of wood combined with modern materials and sealants, resulting in much less maintenance than a traditional wood boat.. I also love the absence of stainless steel on this boat. Just stunning. Reminds me a bit of the Spirit Yachts out of England and featured in one of the James Bond films. Healthy wood has a natural fragrance and is naturally buoyant unlike all other boat materials. While this boat's wood is well-sealed, it is nonetheless comforting to know that saltwater preserves wood.

I agree. Puzzling why someone would go to the expense to build such a work of art yet not include dedicated shower stalls if for no other reason than to keep the beautiful woodwork in the head dry. Also, the lack of a real master stateroom said to me that this boat was not meant for cruising. The engine room was spectacular.

What I love most about this boat is that it looks like it's from prior to the 1950's, as evidenced by the brightwork and interior finish. However, it's interior is thoroughly modern in placement. If this boat had been crafted in the 1940's with the same interior design and furnishings, it would have entirely influenced the rest of the yachting world for decades. This is a fantastic design.

This is a very traditional interior layout that many modern plastic boat could (should?) get inspiration from. It is practical, has been tested by generations of sailors, makes a clear division between the wet and dry areas, and mostly knows how to make the best of the tiniest space for storage.£Not only this boat is beautiful but it is also a sailors dream.£The only question remains about this video : the rigging has been somewhat overlooked and the deck plan should have been more detailed with the boating / sailing amenities as well : engine room, electronics, etc…
    Thanks for posting anyway.

She's a stunning Ketch, and definitely a New England-ish design...with that draft, sailing around the Caribbean and accessing many anchorages would be dicy. Also, I heard no mention of a bow thruster, so shorthanded, tight marina maneuvering, could be problematic. Still...a breathtaking Ketch. Great video, Jordan!
Just went back for a second look of he deck, and noticed both rectangular and round deck prisms...I never seen circular prisms before!

    • @lancer2204
      @lancer2204 Před 2 lety +1

Yep, I wouldn't call it a blue water cruiser based on the interior layout. It has limited accommodation for a 60' with the only privacy being the forward cabin.
Going simply by the interior I'd suggest it was intended as a weekender, maybe up to 5-7 days (before crew and guests start to get on each other's nerves), but not a passage maker due to the lack of berths.
Can you imagine shift change on a 10 day passage? Whom ever is in that "main cabin" would have people climbing past every 3-4 hours unless they used the midship hatch (which may not be possible on a starboard tack in a stiff wind).

    stunning.
    However.
With that sort of looks, this would warrant two further, full-sized cabins, on either sides, forward from the saloon, which would bring the boat’s length to about 75ft, I guess.

  • @dap777754

Did not hear or see any mention of what she looks like below the waterline - as in her underwater profile. Spade rudder or traditional keel? I was also thinking at first the mainmast might have been stepped on deck as I did not see the mainmast in the salon. But I imagine she's keel stepped. While the woodwork below is nice, a lot of boats are similar and we don't really need the "oooh, aaahh, I'm speechless" song and dance. This is a very traditional looking sailboat, small foretriangle, draft 6'10' certainly does not make her too deep to fart around the Caribbean or the Bahamas (more of a stretch), as some have said. Wish we were told the engine brand. I agree that a 60 ketch is not too big for an experienced, young sailor to day sail in nice weather, but it is a more complicated rig than a sloop and in challenging conditions would be too much for a single sailor, except briefly.

You are very right: Beautiful Boat! The owner (s)? must be a Celebrity by all of the Different styles of the same instrument??!! Can’t be a young rock star: too clean. So maybe a Jimmy Buffet kind of person?
To be sure, the boat is again as you say: Beautiful both in and out! The owner puts in the time on keeping her that way or pays some folks to keep up with it all: mechanical, painting, electrical and instruments and maybe some minor maintenance training for the owner(sounds good huh😊)
On the stat sheet I saw a Captain listed, so again have the funds to hire a Captain to navigate and support the owner with what to do while at sea.
Since it would be my Dream Boat, guess what drove all of this wishful cometary, Beautiful Boats has been known to do this to some of us Dri-docked sailors and to even some globetrotting old and young Sailors!

That is not a Guitar, it is called a Resonator or Dobro. It can be played like a Guitar but they were invented before electric amplifiers so the cone inside would project more sound than any Guitar of that time. The metal body amplifies the sound even more and blues players started using them because of twangy sound and massive projection. Today many music artists use them for their unique tonal qualities. The one in your tour is a Recording King Tricone Resonator with metal body. Instead of having just one cone to make more volume this resonator has three cones for even more volume.
In the USA I had ten boats but I have a lot more guitars and many other music instruments that I play. I sold almost all of my boats when I moved to Israel but not my musical instruments or my shop tools. I have a couple resonators and love to play them. This boat owner has exquisite taste because of his boat and his musical instruments.
