THE BEST 40' Sailboat I've EVER Seen [4K Tour] Learning the Lines

This is a great example of the legendary Nauticat 40 Pilothouse, designed by Sparkman and Stevens and built by Sitala in Finland. This is a rare boat, and with that I'd argue that she's delightfully weird in that you just don't see designs quite like this in boats of this size and vintage.
Tell me another 40' yacht from the 80s that incorporates a ketch rig, aft cockpit, pilothouse, huge galley, full beam aft cabin with an en-suite head, and a large forward cabin and second head? Combine that with a robust below the waterline fin keel and skeg-hung rudder. I'll wait.
I think this is my new favorite 40' design from this timeframe.

The BIGGEST Small Boat I've EVER Been Aboard [Full Tour] Learning the Lines
Thank you for letting us see this cute boat. I would love to wake up each morning and see the sun coming up with a cup of strong black coffee iny hand and a fishing pole in my other hand. One day i hope i don't have to use my wheelchair and get my legs back so i can walk. This is keeping me from getting a home on the water. When I do tho, the fish better hide and they will be trembling when they hear my name. I was once called a fish magnet because I out fished everyone else that went fishing with us 95% of the time. Yes it can be sad for others to catch small perch size of a child's hand, then i catch catfish over 3 foot or bigger than 36 inch fish. Tip for keeping live bait fresh and alive, we used the inside metal tubs from a washing machine from a laundry mat because those huge tubs have thick walls with round holes and we weld a metal lid on top with a good thick door that can be locked by a big brass padlock. Plus we welded on eye hooks so we could secure it to dock or tree. We never lost it, not even during the floods we had. The bigger the tub the more fish it can hold. Im not sure what salt water will do to those metal tubs in salt water tho. But they do great job in fresh water.
Thank you so much for sharing this awesome boat with us. It's a truly beautiful boat or home on the water with a different front yard every time you pull anchor and drop it or tie up at the new place you want to visit. That is why people buy boats and yachts so they can go see new places. May i suggest one very important thing to everyone who's about ready to go live their dreams and purchase or lease a boat. Get yourself a big thick paper map and draw out all the places you travel to, an mark the date and important things in a notebook to keep with the map. This way when you and your spouse are older you can easily show your family all the wonderful places and tell them about the people you got to meet all because you took the chance and went to live your dreams on your own floating house and never regretted it. Because we only live together once they say. I don't think that's correct, because i believe true love is like a really strong magnet and pulls the two people together if they are true soulmates. We are connected by an invisible force like gravity. We can't see it but knows it's there working. Share the Love and remember, Love is like glue that holds everything together in our Universe. That is so true.
I love proas. They are super sailers
If you see mold on a wall, it's 5-10 times worse behind that wall. Great looking boat, but that moisture issue is very concerning.
Not a real sailer, more a motorsailer, Alluminium can be a big problem in combinacion with other metals. So controll all spots.
Very good Learning the lines 👍🌏🤔✅✅✅ N.A MNDAA TNLA. to AA
Hard to watch this guy
beautiful boat, too bad it is only a 32' LWL of living space. For the $$$ just buy a Bene or Jenny or Catalina
It's extremely beautiful boat ,moody style
That boat would list for around 60,000 here in puget sound, and would end up selling at or around 48000 to 54000.160,000 is kinda high for something as plane jane and underpowered as this
If Taylor really wanted the boat you should have sold it for $45000 to recoup your costs.😊
Love the hull.😊.
If your willing to do all the hard work and refit where necessary even the whole interior and be prepared to spend $100k sure,go for it.😊😊😊
You forgot to mention the can of WD40 😅
Way too expensive
What is the price???
The State of Florida is at war with people that anchor their boats in the rivers Governor Ron DeSantis does not want you there
That is literally my dream boat...
Yep, it's a winner!
More light in the engine room would have merited an A instead of a B but it was great nevertheless. 😊
Love pilot house
Funny how these are so similar in some ways yet so different to Sargo, Targa and Nord Star. Then even add Axopar and Saxdor into the mix. It's a very interesting area of the market and the competition right now is fantastic for me when I hope to buy one in the next few years...
What's affordable?
That was my plan 45 years ago but life chose a different type of voyage.
250 000 for one 50' that very expensive...
Just wantef to say that CZcams’s algorithm fucking sucks! Keeps me showing piece of shit videos like this one!
It’s interesting and frustrating: the older they get the more they want to be in a relationship. Yet as soon as they are in a relationship they are insufferable, create drama and act like they are higher value than they are. Why, when everything they ask for walks into their life, can’t they remember being alone and wishing for us? They suddenly lack kindness, commitment and enthusiasm as soon as their prayers are answered. Well, enjoy the wine and cats or learn to be human.
beautiful...cozy..
A little defamation problem o port side ?
My favorite boat in all the world. Weird my a#&.
People hate on hunters cause they spent a lot on their 54 ft beneteau and they have a friend with a 46 ft hunter that was a lot less money, with better equipment and a better interior
Beautiful boat. I want it!
The port settee berth pulls out to make a double berth (you can see the track for it on that forward bulkhead)
Who makes expedition yatchs with fiberglass??
Yeah affordable, If you have $250 to $300,000 to throw down lol
Just tell us the price, from the beginning!!! We want to understand today's value!!!!
That boat either doesn't have any hanging lockers, or if she did, you didn't show them.
Windows are way to big.
Electric could be the default for a lot of boats - cats, sailboats, cruisers. Yeah stick a small engine in as a backup but charge off the wind / solar by default. And cats have so much surface area that it's a no brainer since the range of a solar powered cat is far more than most people are likely to do in a single day of cruising. Especially for the money that people would save in fuel, and not having to go to a fueling dock, plus noise / vibration. Biggest issue is that electric is still relatively new to marine and where it is available, it costs stupid amounts of money.
It’s not workable for more than two persons for any overnighting. Poor access to exterior bow for any topside docking duties. With only 110hp not sure if it would get up on plane with that much weight. Like its size for trailering. I fish Lakes Superior and Michigan. Mounting downriggers on both stern corners looks like it would be challenging. Getting speed down to around 1.8 to 2.2mph for trolling might be difficult without a kicker motor. 6 figures $$ is too much.
The owner have some conection with Brasil, as a Brazilian I see the Ester eggs 😂
the hobbit door is a deal breaker, can't imagine how irritating it would be to have to duck every time to go forward
Your idea of Affordable is relative
Socialism as with Capitalism will succeed or fail depending upon those steering the boat.
Even a free boat will never be dirt cheap lol...
So how does the engine get cooled if there’s no hole in the hole below the waterline to take water in and cool the engine even if you have a heat exchanger
guy saying very very a lot
If they had a layaway program, I'd grab it today. :D Just the name!
Any cat with this much accommodation is not likely going to be fast.
I would remove the upper bridge to install solar panels, remove on of the motors and make the the boat electric drive and turn the other diesel into a back up generator.
