- Hey everyone. Hope you're al doing great.
This video is just one that I wanted to post to show you some things that do annoy me, particularly about the G4, when specifically in game mode. I hope you find this somewhat educational and helpful.
I have owned both tvs for a few months now and have spent a good amount of time with them, and after a while, you start to notice things that you get annoyed by. especially when you spend the money you spend on them.
Thank you, and I hope to see your comments.
see you on the next one.

I just purchased the Samsung s90d in 65” and this tv is nothing short of amazing!
Nice! I've had mine for a few months now, and can confirm that the game mode looks SO much better than what you see here with the proper settings applied. These comparisons are sometimes helpful, but in this case it's not accurate given how washed out the S90D looks here.
@@Whitewolf_1186I said the same thing here. I haven’t seen a washed out picture on mine like this since day one!
I just purchased one S90D 65 in Amazon prime deal and I have seen a lot of reviews about this tv and comments are very positive about it, I think I made a good decision with this tv because my options was LG C4 and S90D , I chose S90D.
How is it with indirect day light?
@@Ovian-bh3rx it is stunning, I have two windows in my living room and the tv permforms amazing.
I just bought the G4, as a total package it is simply the best TV. It also comes out as a winner in 9 out of ten tests. I don't miss anything at all when it comes to colors.Qled is better technology, and better colors blah blah, and yet the G4 wins in most comparisons. 😅😅
13:27 Why do you have "Reduce Blue Light" enabled on the G4 in a comparison video like this?? Doesn't that cause the image to look warmer / more yellow? The comparison would be much more useful and fair if that was disabled, at least for the colors.
Exactly!
Because this guy is either trolling or has no clue what he is doing. In a different video he compares fine details, clarity and sharpness between the g4 and the a95l and sharpness is set to 11 on the a95l while 50 is the standard setting and comparable to 0 on the g4. And then he talks about how much sharper the g4 is while actively smoothing the image on the a95l smh
Also. Just a quick note about the last comparison. Dynamic Tone Mapping was off on the LG. However, Active Tone Mapping (The Samsung Equivalent) was on.
Maybe turn that off on the Samsung too and compare.
There are two considerations with gaming picture experience.
1. Do you want this is look as close to reference as possible and accurate to creators intent?
2. Do you want the brightest most punchy image, regardless of accuracy?
Both TVs do one of these better than the other. It's all about your preference.
You should compare the infuriatingly overhyped Bravia 9 against the G4 just to demonstrate how flat it looks in comparison xD
G4 already dominated the first Shootout, expect to win it at Value Electronics Shootout as well as HDTV Test Shootout later this year. 👑
No place for MiniLED on my Lowboard ! 🚫⛔
Regards,
Manuel
Excellent video, bro. Kindly do this detailed comparison vs the S95D. Thanks again!
Good video. I cant wait to unleash the 100 inch.
Man thank u! Is what u mentioned about the DTM ON & OFF & making a lot of things off and losing it & losing it with its competitors with the depth clarity, colors & details does also applied to out of the game mode?
Thanks for your honest review
I saw many side by side comparisons and chose the S95D as that is the ultimate TV for my experience
Does it have raised blacks even without lights?
@@andreweber234 I do not see any raised blacks. I've been looking for that as I have seen comments regarding it.
I just don't see it
@@ehenningsen Hey, thanks for the quick reply, sounds like the perfect tv for dark lit rooms then, I appreciate it
18:20 Samsung uses MaxDML unlike LG and Sony that use MaxCLL. Samsung usually tries to avoid white clipping, so the details near white are easier to see, so bright-greys are the best on Samsung, but this also creates few downsides: the overall brightness of the scene will be lower, because this way will try to preserve details near white. And second downside is that it will lose details near black and this creates black crush.
Sony usually have raised blacks with the best shadow detail but this also creates white clipping/highlights crush, so details near white are lost so the overall picture looks more washed out, less "contrasty".
LG is like Sony, but also tries to be like Samsung to a certain degree so LG is the middle ground. LG won't be like Samsung, LG won't preserve details near white like Samsung.
I think MaxDML is also used by Philips, with good details near white but also black crush.
Hey great video as usual. I think whenever you compare WOLED to the QDOLED, color volume is always going to be a win for QDOLED just like pure white is going to be the strength of WOLED. Dynamic tone mapping is not the issue it's more so panel technology limitations. Even if LG unlocked the peak brightness and other settings in game mode that doesn't mean you would get more color volume, it may just wash the picture out even more. I think that MLA gets you close enough to QDOLED and the more that they refine it will remain competitive to QDOLED. Comparing TVs are cool, but most people don't buy TVs to compare and if there not side by side then your eyes are going to adjust to whatever picture you're watching. What's important is understanding both panel technology strengths and limitations and adjusting your expectations and see if it fits your use case. As always, I appreciate your content and your consumer like approach.
Great video! One quick question though, even though the S95D has a matte coating, wouldn't it being in a dark room not matter?
0 matters same as glossy
look at villaman he just relase the best video of g4 vs s95d the matt screen is the real deal for bright room and in a dark room same as glossy
also fomo and brain came bak from mwave comparing all the top tier tvs and fomo chose s95d for the win and brian the g4
You cannot have dark room if the TV is turned on. The TV brightens up the room, then the light created by the TV goes to the walls/stuff in the room and then reflected back to the TV. My LG G3 becomes an IPS because I have a white wall next to the G3, it lights up the whole room, even if I don't have any other light source in the room. So there's not such thing as a dark room when you have a 77 inch light bulb in the room.

What about the views of that Quantum guy?
@@Brandosway im a fan of quantam honestly any top tier tv even from the last few years are really good
i have a c1 and q90t and the tvs still amaze me and i know quantam compare the c1 to g4 very impressed
Awesome video, as always. I, too, hate the S95D matt screen. However, for gaming, it has the best picture I have ever seen. I suggest you give it a shot. (But you need to calibrate it to bt2020) even better than my current lg G4.
I can share my settings with you in case you get your hands on one.
In what way is it better. It won't be better in terms of details and fidelity.
I had the S95C last year.
Itll be the same in details and fidelity if you put the sharpness upto 20 to match the undefeatable raised sharpness on the g4
People gotta stop saying this without realizing why it is. The rest, sure, go for it in comparisons
@@enzopied3015 It is not the same because it's not just sharpness processing. It is masking elements in the image and adjusting brightness around them and edges dynamically. I went through this last year with the S95C trying to make it look the same. You can't.
I'm not saying the Samsung isn't great. But on this aspect it cannot replicate what the G4 does.
Generally it also lacks the granular picture controls and accuracy in game mode. If you want authentic, G4 is better. If you want bright image in colour and brightness regardless of accuracy, then Samsung is better.
@@enzopied3015 it is not sharpness only. it has a lot to do with tone mapping.
So you have both g4 and s95d@@enzopied3015
The LG G4 looks better here than the S90D. It also won the shootout at MWAVE.
Yeah, LG looks more accurate in my opinion.
Lg DTM on instead of HGIG ? and why reduce blue light ? No wonders LG has problems with tone mapping
dude can you pls give us an mid-range comparison between c4 nd Bravia 7 and high range between Bravia 9 nd g4 ?
we need that 😂😢
it would be alot better if you did a comparison with HGiG as it has the most Pop with it engaged and is supposed to be the most accurate picture, Dynamic Tone Mapping makes the picture look alot flatter and washed, HDR is supposed to be used for accuracy but some just use DTM for a brightness boosts
So what settings are these TVs on? Is this a default setting? I mean the LG looks great but I think you could make the S90D look just as good?
I don't use game mode on any TV, I think it hinders and dims the picture. I don't care about having perfect frame rate, I'd rather have the image look its best at all times.
It’s not frame rate, it’s input lag that is the issue
LG needs to make an QD oled ... alot of our problems would be solved then :p
QD OLED is great but soon we will get RGB oleds coming.
QD OLED is basically rgb oled@@seanmf202
LG G4 is way ahead of anything else ❤
Watching this again i think i have picked up on something that is being confused. Dynamic tone mapping will make bright areas darker and dark area brighter. If you want to make the brighter colors on the G4 brighter, you need to use Brightness > Professional Mode > 4000 Nit container slider and set to 70-100. Test the same thing and you will see what I mean.
Did you calibrate tvs or just regular settings. Turn off reduce blue lighting
Put BT2020 on LG and color depth somewhere from 45-50
yes tone maping needs upgrade please make more videos comparisom playing games
Does the S90D have a brighter screen and more 3D pop then the S95C?
No
I Replaced my g4 to s90d , because dull colours on g4.
oh wow so the s90d is better?
Have you owned the G2. I replaced it with the G4. I'm thinking the G4 is summer then the G2. Am I losing it?
@@francis147741Summer?
what an downgrade lol
@@giotorres9848I have a G3, s95d is way better outside of the matte screen. Even s90c looks better
so since u own the a95l and g4 ur saying the s90d bangs with the big dogs
@giotorres9848 in terms of color and highlight details yes. But not in brightness and clarity and overall picture quality.
The best overall is the A95L. But samsung is better due to QD OLED tech
s95d is the best TV in the world in the game.
I use the s95d in day time and when its dark I walk to my other house that has no windows and use watch on the g4 and in morning when sun comes i go back to my other house and watch on the s95g again.
Just buy another house or build house next to your existing one and get both tvs - problem solved
I have a q7fn qled from 2018 and lg g3 and I prefer the colors of the q7fn, colors are more pure, more vibrant, especially the reds and the yellows so it's not that hard to beat the g3/g4 colors, a midrange qled will beat them.
How bright does S90d get in game mode
@goldeneye8425. Hey thank you for the comment and checking out the video. It's definitely bright enough for most even when tone mapping is not static. Also maintains color very well.
Samsung S90D and S95D DO NOT track PQ EOTF properly. They are both over tracking and so the picture is too bright overall. This was the same last year. Vincent from HDTV Test has measured this in his video. And also Rtings.
''The Samsung S90D/S90DD has excellent HDR brightness in Game Mode. It slightly over-brightens the image, which makes it brighter and more vibrant overall, but it isn't as accurate.''
You can correct this in the settings mostly.
This means though, that overall picture brightness difference is not as dramatic as shown in this video once corrected.
If you have children and play games and you want to use it for four to six years, buy Woled, QD-OLED loses up to 50% of its peak brightness. While Woled has invisible brichtnes loss.
Samsung S90D is superior for the QD OLED technology.
There is no way that the LG G4 mla oled is more vibrant and color rich than a qd oled. I have to laugh at the bias towards the LG G4 this year.
The s95d whipped the G4s ass all over the stage a couple weeks ago. If you want a more muted less entertaining experience go with lg.
@@JBlakeS23No it didn't lol. It won.
@@CaliFinestDemon it wasn’t even close.
@@JBlakeS23 MWAVE The G4 was put first before the S95D.
If all you care about is slightly more vibrant colours in very bright areas. Yes. The S90D is better.
However. Details are better on the G4. And most importantly, if you game, there are much better controls for adjusting the image. This matters a lot! Many games ship with poor implementation of HDR and other issues. You can fix a lot of this stuff. The Samsung has no way to adjust black levels without making the whole image darker. The LG does.
LG has undefeatable sharpening/edge enhancement.
Sony wins with an advantage and a long advantage, Sony is sharper, more detailed, vivid and real colors with unsurpassed depth, textures and contour, no other brand comes close

@corzabourne2101 Hey thank you for the comment and checking out the video. Yea the S90D does seem much more dim. I personally never owned the S90C but would be nice to see a nit measurement comparison.
