Loving the philosophical conversation! My personal theory is that the soul/consciousness/whatever is a form of energy, and if energy cannot be destroyed then it has to still exist *in some form* even after our meat suits stop working. What happens to that energy after it's freed from the physical shell is still anybody's guess, but there have just been too many recorded "sighting" incidents throughout human history all across the globe for it to all be chalked up to pure coincidence.

They can not interact with us or anything else, but you can sense and feel the emotion left, hear screams and see the imprint.
