Heavy turrets shoot rockets regular autos don't. If you have only regular you're vulnerable had a guy take mine down with rockets I was Level 95 just before I unlocked the heavies...
If you fire a rockets turret at a smaller amount of heavy turrets you have a chance of a rocket making it through every once in a while which can be devastating if placed properly
