  • Silent film from Ken's archives. Travel from Southampton to New York by the Cunard Line in 1969 via the QE2! Beautifully shot in colour, this one is sure to delight. Lots of really cool late '60s fashions, too! Be sure to check my channel for the best in VINTAGE & RARE airliner videos!

    Remarkable footage for 1969.
Always cool to see QE2 as she first was. :D

Great footage. I was born 68. Too late for this era. But I love it. Thank you!

I was lucky enough to do 4 crossings on her; 1 while she was still a steam ship and the other 3 after she had been converted to diesel-electric. She was a beautiful vessel. On my first crossing we actually did 32 knots with a strong tailwind from New York to Southampton. Those were the days!

I have seen her when I was sailing in the Ionian Sea Greece. What an elegant ship and so quiet compared to the Greek ferries.

It's hard to fathom - that almost 50 years have passed!

1970 I went on the qe2, NYC to Le Havre then on to Southampton. I was 9. Great experience.

Hedley Rainnie In 1970 I went on the Ellinis from Southampton to New York, via Le Harve, because of a British dock strike, the QE2 left Southampton the day after us and arrived in New York the day before us. I watched it go by, it took about an hour to get from horizon to horizon, what a magnificent ship the QE2 was. I was 16 at the time.

Didn't know she'd stop at Le Havre: thought it was mostly a straight shot from Southampton to NY for her as it now is with QM2. That's cool though!

I really that you have included ships into your lineup. If you find vintage train footage, I’d watch that too. Be the vintage transportation channel. 😁

7:02 see the 3 or 4 year old little boy walking alone without any adults in site. Haha thats the way they did it in the '60's.

No audio. Hope you got that thing fixed or replaced since.

@@Kaidhicksii No need to replace - you confirmed no audio on this QE2 footage. Problem is, my iPad back then was muted by default. Had to press the crossed out speaker icon to unmute every time to unmute!
