Always great to see you covering the US Sugar Express and 148, especially a Christmas special. Fort Ogelthorpe, 664, is leased from Charlie Polings operation up Oak Ridge, TN way. 664 originally Budd built in '47 as one of 4 cars of the Central Of Georgia's (which later acquired by SOU Rwy) Man 'O War train which ran between Atlanta and Columbus, GA. Charlie has managed to acquire all 4 cars of the Man 'O War consist (which some how had all survived) and may one day have the full consist all in service together again! Have a very Merry Christmas (after what sounded like a great Italian meal)!
Thanks for the information! It’s kind of ironic because currently, we’re within the vicinity of Oak Ridge, as we’re going to do some stuff on CSX’s KD subdivision after Christmas. Speaking of which, Merry Christmas to you!
I wonder if US Sugar brass is thinking about building a pair of turntables on either end of the route in the future... could make their locomotive operations easier...
