Yes, make the coffee table book!!❤
Great interview, thank you. I recently made a list of all the quilts I own, some from family as old as 1927 to quilts I’ve made then I typed list with makers name, date, city and occasion for quilt and spaced each one like a label. I printed the pages and took them to my local printer and he prints them on fabric and I’m in process of labeling every quilt I own. I label every new quilt I make. It is such a warm feeling to look at a quilt, turn it over and read the label:
Ethel Adelia 1927 Stapleton, Nebraska; thank you Ethel for this lovely quilt, it’s a treasure! Karen, thanks for all you do!
Blessings, Dawn
We’ll done 👏👏👏
In my opinion this is the best interview in your channel so far, super informative, interesting, unusual subject and loved her style of answering, thank you Karen ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
One of my favorites!!!!!
Hi! I love all your videos including your interviews…but so far she is my very favorite. I, too, didn’t think my quilts were worthy of labeling but she and you have convinced me to make sure every quilt has a label, even those I keep for myself. Thank you, Karen!
Wonderful! I am still making labels for my older quilts. Trying to catch up
Complete agree, my favourite interview so far!
She really resonated with me! I love your quilt circle interviews. As if I don't have enough, I like to rescue UFOs as I come across them, honour the memory of whoever got them that far then finish them off and pass them on.
Wonderful!
From the first quilt I made 40 years ago, I was taught to label each and every quilt. I'm so happy I continued to do that.
That was fascinating and very informative!!! Thank you, Karen!
My aunt was really on the ball. She managed to get 3 flimsys that were made by her husband's grandmother. She got them quilted and I made the labels with the name of the quilter and approximate date. It was my aunt's persistence that they will go not forward as unknowns. 19:41
Well done 👏👏👏
I would love to see a book with all of her photographed quilts.
Another fascinating interview. I am constantly amazed at how you are able to find such interesting people. Always a joy to watch. Thank you so much, Karen.
My friend had a couple of old quilts that needed fixing but didn't know anyone to fix them for the decade or know the fabric to choose. Anyway she ended up cutting them up into miniature Christmas stockings to hang on the fireplace. So cute.
So interesting! Thank you for finding Kelly. I always enjoy having you on in the background in my sewing room😊❤️
Karen this was a fantastic interview. Your questions for Hannah were right on point for her to explain in detail. Felt like I was right there with you! Thanks for sharing 💕
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was so interesting! A coffee table book would be great. I need to start labeling my quilts!! You really do a great job of interviewing.
Wonderful interview. Thanks for all you do.
Great topic. I know a lady that is very private. She is a wonderful quilter. She will not put her name on anything. She will not have her obituary published she is so private. Her family will have to make a photo diary of her quilts. I recently began to make labels and a photo diary for my quilts.
My friend has quilts in quilts from her Aunts and great Aunts. Beautiful appliqued quilts. She treasures them and takes good care of them.
Wow
Loved the interview Karen. I have a quilt that one of my Aunt's gave me that her sister also my Aunt made and it's very heavy. She hand quilted it and the batting was of cotton. Her husband was a farmer and I remember as a young child that he had planted cotton. He showed us how to pick it and the cleaning of the seeds and trash from it. I know some of it in the quilt had bunched up. I hope all this makes sense. ❤❤
I really enjoy all of your interviews, however, this one was quite interesting. You tend to ask the questions that I want to ask - before I even realize it myself!! Thank you for providing such great content. (Michigan)
"Quilter Lover Extraordinaire" best describes Hannah Kelly!!! Hope you have her on again in the future. Best interview you've ever done, Karen.
I enjoyed talking with her too
This lady is truly an entrepreneur!! And her grandmother and great grandmother have to be so proud of her! And she IS a quilt lover without being a quilter!! Loved this interview and will be looking for her Instagram info!! Thank you!!
Her photos are beautiful
This was so very interesting…thank you. I think a coffee table book would be awesome. Thank you..Dottie x
That was absolutely delightful. Thank you!
Thanks! Sew glad you are on CZcams! ❤️
Thank you very much
What's inside the quilt? Years ago a friend bought a really heavy 1920s quilt on Ebay. We found a loose seam & peaked inside & found a lovely Civil War quilt! I took a few measurements & made a copy for myself
Nice
I really enjoyed this interview. Great video. Thanks!
Label, label, label!! Thank you for the reminder👍
For me this was one of the best interviews. She was so interesting and so very easy to listen to. Loved her little chuckles every so often. Thanks Karen. 🌹
What a great interview... thank you
This was a great interview. I love all your interviews! Thank you so much. ❤❤😊
Very interesting. I never would have thought there'd be such a market. It only goes to show that there's always a place for anything! ❤👍from Somerset UK
Loved this interview. Thank you. I may not make a label, though through my free motion quilting I always write words, hearts, and sign my name & date/ yr. Though if you saw it, it just like a random design. Thanks again for sharing.
I donated my grandmother’s hand stitched wedding quilt, a grandma’s flower garden to the museum in the town she was born, raised and lived. The quilt was created by her, future, mother-in-law. The quilt; hardly used, stored in a hope chest, and in pristine condition was created in 1920. I do wish I had created a label for the quilt, but the museum curator has all the information.
If you are concerned about a quilt having insects, an overnight stay in a freezer will kill even the toughest bug.
Hi Karen, I was missing you and your videos. I logged on, and here was a new video from you! 😊
There was another one last Friday too
Wonderful interview. Very enlightening ❤
Another fabulous interview!
Very interesting interview!! Thanks for doing it
How can you tell the difference between hand pieced and machine pieced?
Machine pieced is very even and worked with a top and bottom threads. Hand sewn may not be as even and worked with one or two together
Love your interviews!!!!! & your videos!!!!
I really enjoyed listening to this!!!
Another lovely lady, Thankyou Karen
That was SEW interesting to listen to. I'm an avid thrifter in Ottawa, Ontario and I rarely come across older quilts. I always have my eye open for Feedsack fabrics. Perhaps Canadians hold on tighter to their quilts due to colder weather? On Instagram they seem abundant in the US. Do you find this in Toronto as well, Karen?
Loved this interview! So interesting! Thanks to you both.
Another fascinating interview.
That is so interesting this is a wonderful interview thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great interview. So fascinating!
My favorite interview so far! It makes me sad to hear how many quilts don’t have a label! The situation is even worse than I thought. I will check out her website and start following her on IG.
Fabulous interview! As usual entertaining as well as educational. Blessings Miss Karen.
Thank you
Thank you for an excellent interview.
Glad you enjoyed it!
So cool!
Wow Karen, she is only 40 mins away! Such an interesting interview. Thank you!
Very interesting interview! Thank you, Karen❤
You are so welcome!
Great interview!
A very interesting interview Karen. What a great job Hannah has taking such beautiful photos of quilts and also finding new homes for these treasures. Loved the most sold quilts are blue and white ones. My second 100days100blocks2023 is blue and white🇦🇺
Great interview! And a wonderful reminder to label our quilts, even when we don’t think it’s anything spectacular. Reminds me to go back and slap a label on several heavily used ones I made years ago but didn’t think they were special enough to want to keep that information.
That’s what I am trying to do
This was a fun interview! I love vintage quilts! I have my own vintage treasure that I bought at an estate sale for $25. It was pretty nasty and HEAVY. I soaked it in the tub in oxiclean for hours. Once I got to handling it, I could see that it was so heavy because it had a whole other quilt inside! It is also made from, I assume, fabric samples. It is all rectangles with sashing in between them. The rectangles all have 2 holes the size of a paper punch in the top two corners. I am assuming they had rings through them for flipping through.
Wow…thanks for sharing
From someone who lives in Appalachia, I just wanted to let you know that it is a ch, almost like I'm going to throw an Apple at cha ( also pronounced like the word chuck without the ck) not a sha. No worries, seems like lots of people get it wrong. I'm from the mountains of western North Carolina. Really enjoyed this interview and it was nice to hear from a relative neighbor ( Tennessee and North Carolina share a border) .
Very interesting. ❤
Love, love this!❤
Fascinating. Thank you.
Our pleasure!
Great interview….loved it
That was interesting thank you
Glad you think so!
That was great! Thanks Karen!
You are so welcome!
❤
Wonderful interview. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Enjoyed interviewing very interesting
Thank you
11,000!! Wow
A very interesting interview.
🤗
Those quilted over could also be a weighted quilt, yes?
Shouldn't anything you sew have a name and date? Premade labels are so easy to buy now you can stitch them on anything -quilts, potholders, placemats, clothes, crochet, knit items...
