The iridescent shark, iridescent shark catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) is a species of shark catfish (family Pangasiidae)
Piranhas primarily inhabit South American rivers and lakes and are not typically found in the same habitats as iridescent sharks, which are native to Southeast Asia. As a result, piranhas do not have specific strategies or adaptations for hunting iridescent sharks.
However, if we were to speculate on hypothetical encounters between piranhas and iridescent sharks, it's important to note that iridescent sharks can grow much larger than piranhas and have a different feeding behavior. Iridescent sharks are primarily filter feeders, feeding on small organisms and plant matter by sifting through water or grazing on algae.
Piranhas, on the other hand, are known for their sharp teeth and aggressive feeding behavior, primarily targeting smaller fish or injured animals. If they were to encounter an iridescent shark, which is considerably larger and has a different feeding strategy, it is unlikely that piranhas would pose a significant threat to the iridescent shark.
It's important to remember that piranhas and iridescent sharks inhabit different regions and ecosystems, so their interactions in the wild would be highly unlikely.
So on this video, i hope we learn what we need to learn from it.
Thank you!

Movies really exaggerated how piranhas work. I was younger I was afraid of these fish, but turns out they aren’t savages like they’re portrayed. These guys were slow, methodical and took well enough time to eat their meal. 💀
I think that Snakeshead fish are way more deadly than piranha cuz of their bite force and aggressiveness
Looks like Hollywood owes you an apology for all those sleepless night you spent worrying about piranhas 😂
All the piranhas when the fish got put in the tank were all like friend friend new friend! Food did you say food fooooood?!?!?!? It’s dinner guys
🏊🏊🏊🏊🏊🏊🐟🐟
I just noticed that piranhas are really shy and skittish, just like any other tetra fish
They're really shy yet curious, I love it
They’re also omnivores, they eat nuts and fruits in the wild!
Im very surprised that the fish was able to continue to move after having such a large portion of its body removed. This was a very interesting video!
Catfish: Hey you guys!, Stop biting me!! Piranha: But you taste so good....! Just one more nibble...!
Shame on you. that fish has no way to go.
Gotta change everything, including my tittle if it has a way to go.
Piranhas are very smart ! They usually go after the tail to immobilize their prey, but on larger fish they are smart enough to know that wont work, so they puncture the swim bladder of the fish to help immobilize it, very genius of the piranhas !
Shark searching for a way out of that tank
Its not a shark its a variety of catfish.
@@tusharhbk Thanks bro but I know the iridescent shark is a cat fish. I a actually have the mini version that looks more like a shark than this type.
Just because that short dorsal fins and we call it a shark in english
I've actually had to feed piranhas in a fish tank one time. Very peculiar experience.
This is an instant depression cure
Bro this felt like national geography without the voiceover 😂
😂😂❤
Can i use this video for my studies? It's not being fully used... i need just a few seconds of it.....
Sure. You can
Awesome how big is your tank? How old are your fish?
What size tank 120? Them guys needs a 300+gal
17:01 is why you’re here
Does the tank clears itself after ever feeding, or do you have to clean it to remove the cloudiness?
Hi.. After 2 times of big feeding like this. I change 25% of water and clean the filter. But after all my filtration work the most.
Wow, that was savage, eaten alive , didn't stand a chance . However it interesting to see how piranha are very well organised in their attack , seem to communicate and taken it in turns individually before the final frenzy at the end . It was educational in the least , putting aside the brutally of course.
I like your thinking ❤

That might have been the least effective way of killing it, it took them 20 min. to take down a harmless fish
@@user-jt1oj1rw9d Actually, It takes time to plan out and put said plan into action. You can't just skip to the attacking phase without studying the target first.
They have a method of madness tho! Soft under belly and fins.
Wear them down.
In the wild its different. There's lot of them .
The catfish played dead ...lol
How fast they are blows my mind
Obviously the fish going in with them had some body parasites and wasnt very strong to begin with, was a bit crazy watching its swim bladder leaking air and its nervous system kept control of all but what was gone. Would have been interesting to see how they finished it off do they all gather round to keep it in one place while they eat together? Natural process in an unnatural setting yes although not something that many get to see as it happens live. I made the mistake if adding a Striped Dora to a community tank, within a few days there was only itself, the Zebra Danios and a couple other bigger fish left lol.
Sounds like quite the eventful observation! The piranhas definitely have their own unique way of handling their meals. It's fascinating to witness natural processes even in an unnatural setting. And hey, we all make mistakes when it comes to fishkeeping! It's all part of the learning experience. Thanks for watching!
Bro got dropped off in the wrong hood.
Cool but you’re also a bit cruel for this one
Thank you.
Lol, all animals/creatures do this in the wild everyday, kid! What were you expecting to find on this video while watching it, when the title and "graphic warning" are pretty clear of what is to be expected?!...
Thats crazy fish fought good
This is kinda F’d up
Did it have to be alive?
And why such a large bait? It looks like they can’t even finish it.
Most captive fish are detritivores, such as carp and smaller tetras, but those that aren’t such as piranhas and pufferfish need to be fed live prey as enrichment and ensuring a fresher meal.
what an epic video! shout out from florida
Thank you so much for your kind words and shout out from the beautiful state of Florida!

After the 5-6 minute the shark was in the tank, they all was like ok, time to fuck go away we don’t want you 6:30 5:30
Did they eat all of it, or did a majority go to waste?
Hi there. Sorry for being late. But, they will eat it completely in 12hours. So the next day i only feed them with pellets. I do live feeding 1/7. Thanks for watching!
the first time they really went in was surprised how much they ate in only a few seconds
HOW IS HE STILL MOVING 18:23
“Well shit how are we going to do this guys 👀”
You really think that shark can eat all nine of they little fishys
It isn’t an actual shark, it’s a variation of catfish. In English they call some of them sharks due to the small, pointed dorsal fins and sleek build.

Are they just an invasive shiny catfish? I've never seen or heard of them till this video
@@cloroxbleach3367 No they're an endangered catfish from Southeast Asia that grows over 4 feet long and should not be in the pet trade due to the poor treatment they get and due to how large they grow, and no they're not invasive
@@N0_0ne_N3ar oh wow I would have never known that I figured they were like the armored catfish here in Texas which found their way here in the 50s because of pet trade and has destroyed habitats at a beyond alarming rate to the point if you catch an armored catfish here in Texas you're required by law to kill it although the law describes it as "eviscerate"
@@cloroxbleach3367 Yeah it's good that they're trying to eradicate invasive species like that but the pet trade is kind of corrupt
@@N0_0ne_N3ar you're not wrong it's honestly disheartening especially for things like alligator gar I've heard all sorts of stories that would be straight up animal abuse if it was anything but a gar just because of the mythes from the 50s and 60s I've heard of people tying their head to their rear fin then dropping them in the water and stuff like people breaking they're jaw with a rock so they can't eat and then releasing them
Nasty nasty nasty.
I fed one of my large gold fish to my schoolof piranhas. M y 9 year old daughter was pissed off by this.2 days later... All of the 9 piranhas were dead in a cardbox box next to their aquarium.Courtesy of my daughter.I bought that fish as a feeder gold fish years ago.She had known that goldfish since she was 3.I should have known better....
You've only got ya self to blame for that one Billy 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lesson i learned today: never underestimate the power of a 9yr-old with a grudge and a cardboard box.
@Billy-qv7dc yeah that wasnt too bright feller
Interesting how each fishes life and fate was at the hands of a human.
One human puts a fishes life in danger to feed piranhas. Another human is angry at the act and then puts those same terrorizing fishes lives in danger by taking them out of the water to suffocate.
And as The Old Testament of the HOLY BIBLE KJV (King James Version) says from The Old Testament God: “An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.”
Dude💀💀

You watched a live feeding video, and predators might like it better if they can eat their prey alive. I know you feel bad for the shark, but remember. The predator’s gotta eat too.
As we like to keep predatory fish, also we need to care our pets to stay sharp and stimulating their instinct. I think it happens to all pets not just only fish.
I agree but u have to remember these people get off on watching this 😂

Beyond cruel . I wonder what horrible things God may have in store for people that do this ...What a horrible fate to end up into the hands of the person who threw this fish into that tank .
Get a life and change the channel if you don't want to watch.
I mean it’s nature
Then don’t watch
Go watch a documentary please
The feed fish was already unwell and weak, this is exactly what nature would have had happen. Its own tank mates would have done the same to a weaker mate, this was probably faster and more humane than being eaten slower by less able fish in its own tank.
Corny!!!
Thanks
It was sick that it still could swim after losing half of the body.
It can be quite startling to witness the resilience of animals in such situations. Nature often showcases incredible survival instincts, even in challenging circumstances. I strive to showcase the natural behaviors of predators like piranhas while being mindful of the impact on other species. It's a testament to the adaptability and strength of these creatures. Your observation underscores the incredible abilities animals possess, even in the face of adversity.
I agree. It doesn't look very healthy in the first place. It seems like it would be more of an act of kindness...end the suffering. It's sad, yeah, but watching a fish suffer is sad too.
